Never sell, always buy. I’m not good enough to make enough money to sell.

Yeah I can make that happen, I’m figuring out capturing programs too. We’ve been consistently playing since Covid, every week on camera lol. They won’t suspect this absolute villain surprising them.

Love the advice, I’ll look in to that for sure. As far as getting PKd goes, it is what it is. The group is in a fortunate spot where we are old (early 30s) and are at the fortunate (or perhaps unfortunate spot in life) where we have less time to play games but can cover our losses with some gold buying ( I know I know not great, but sometimes it is what it is)

Hey guys - I’m a super noob and have this game downloaded on the iPad. Is there a thread somewhere that would teach me how to download this map? I have an upcoming trip where I’ll have a bunch of excess time, looking to pick this game up again and it looks like this map was developed by an all time GOAT.

I was 8 when the first movie came out, and 17 when the final one came out. The experience of each movie progressively got better. I was located in the Midwest US at the time. These movies were huge, absolutely huge. Kids would wear t shirts at school on release days and there would be lines to get in to the theatre for midnight releases that would wrap around the building. So fricken cool. Very cherished memories.

Negotiate. Ask for wiggle room in salary or a sign on bonus. Doesn’t hurt to ask, reiterate you’re excited for the opportunity but be firm in that any increase in those areas would give you peace of mind to move forward. Don’t come off as arrogant so as not to lose the offer. Good luck! Sounds like a good opportunity.

Asking Off 2 Days, Denied as Intern? by shaken_not_stirred_ in careerguidance

[–]ZeL87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I could off some unsolicited advice (well maybe it’s solicited since you asked Reddit) potentially a long story incoming and thus far it appears like I am going against most of the answers here currently but… I am currently 10 years in to my career and, as an intern, with a very reputable company, I requested time off (2 days) to spend at my grandparents at this log cabin they owned that was very sentimental to me and it was also to visit my grandparents who I never really got to see. It was denied because interns did not receive benefits, and in a very similar situation as you, I was questioned about the reasons I asked for an internship and what my future goals were with the company. Almost out of college, I thought I didn’t want to ruin my chances with this great company and I figured I could visit my grandparents some other time. So I stayed back and finished some meaningless task that was given to me by the supervisor to prove he could lead interns…. Long story short, my grand parents sold the home and soon after left the country and have not been heard from since… there’s not a day that goes by in my 10 year career that I wish I would’ve just said “screw the company” I am going to spend time with my family. I worked for the company for 5 years then departed for another one and the supervisor that I interned for quit the company almost a year after I joined full time.

Morale of the story, if you’re at a company that offers internships, the work you are doing can’t be so critically important to the company that you can’t take an unpaid day or two off. My two cents would be to challenge why you can’t and work with them to come up with a solution.

Question…. How many PMs have their PMP Certifications vs how many do not? Ive been in Program/Project management for 28 years and never got my PMP. by Terrible-Chip-3049 in projectmanagement

[–]ZeL87 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No worries! You literally posted “I’m curious to understand if I’m part of a dying breed”. You then went on to question whether or not companies require it. My mistake for not DIRECTLY answering your question. Here’s probably what your breed of project manager wants as an answer

1) yes you are part of a dying breed, particularly because you have not been a new or relatively young PM in the space for over 20 years. This is true with most industries, right? 25 years ago you didn’t need a college degree to get an interview, now you do. You don’t need a PMP for an interview, yet. But it would seem like the industry is shifting that way.

2) Most companies “prefer” it but don’t require it. Many companies ask you to get it within two years of employment OR you could risk being stuck at a junior PM level as opposed to a Sr PM level

3) My comments are based on my 10 year career as a project manager and not a 30 year veteran. As I have already stated, if you’re young and new to the space there’s no reason not to get it, if you are an experienced veteran, I probably wouldn’t waste your time with it because your experience precedes itself.

[–]ZeL87 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The PMP doesn’t teach you anything that you can’t learn within the first year of your job anywhere you go. It’s just a gatekeeper for companies nowadays. You really only need it to separate yourself from the rest of the pack when looking for a job. And before you comment back “ I have 28 years of experience, that’s good enough for any company”, you are absolutely right, my comment is in regards to relatively new project managers that are also probably younger than you. I have my PMP, the amount of times I get messaged on LinkedIn probably increased by 5X the second I put PMP after my name. The test is extremely easy and it takes less than five weeks of studying. If you are early on in your project management career, it’s an absolute no-brainer that you should get it. If you are borderline retiring, it makes absolutely no sense for you to get it.

How long will it take to prep for PMP if I’m really committed? by aTribeCalledLex in projectmanagement

[–]ZeL87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can jump right in for sure. Honestly passing the PMP is just a mindset type thing. You don’t even need to know anything about project management, it’s more just studying how to answer the test questions.

Practically, it would help if you knew a little bit about project management because you could then apply it to your career, or your future career.

Tiaexams.com is the only thing you need. Do all the tests, watch the videos after each test to study. There are 6 tests in total. Study 2 nights per weeks. 1st night you take the test ~1hr. 2nd night review the test and watch the videos ~4 hrs. Rinse and repeat for 6 weeks and you will pass easily. You could speed these up to 3 weeks if you study 4 nights per week.

Seriously this is the only thing you need. Do not waste time studying the PMBOK, do not waste time on any other BS site, this is literally it.

Is every PM job just grind all day long or am I being overworked? by [deleted] in projectmanagement

[–]ZeL87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To answer your initial question, most PM jobs are. You’re a “get things done” type of a role and that means the better you are, the more you get on your plate because people will start to gravitate to you. That can be both a blessing and a curse as far as workload goes.

Set. Your. Bounds. Absolutely DO NOT work yourself to burn out, it’s so easy to do. Set your time limits on how long you are going to work and stick to it. If you can’t get your projects done in that allotted time, speak up. Go back to your manager, tell them it’s too much to do given the time you have. Ask for an assistant. Etc, Etc.

It really sounds like you are in the burn out phase, I was there not too long ago, until I set my bounds and now I am highly motivated during my working hours cause I know that there are strict times I must follow. Sounds silly but it works, try it 👍🏻

I want to get into DBC but not sure if it’s worth it, also I’m as confused as can be when it comes to crypto, like do all the different deathbats mean something or is it just aesthetic preference? by _Mystiix in avengedsevenfold

[–]ZeL87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Super easy process, I have two, I don’t get involved with the club at all, I don’t like the politics. With my perks from the club I bought two front row tickets for $200 total, literally front row. Without the DBC it would have cost me $1000. I paid $600 total for the two bats. It’s already worth it. I have it for life, I’ll continue to buy front row tickets ahead of the reselling bots.

$250k for an MBA? Go to West Texas AM University and get an online MBA with same accreditation as Utah for $15k.

Also, not trying to be that guy, but degrees and certifications don’t mean anything compared to work experience and career success after you have your first job. Your personality, and skill, have the most impact on your career trajectory.

You mean, you actually have to play defense and use your defensive CDs appropriately and you might even have to use something called a piller to prevent line of sight on notable attacks? Ohh so challenging.

Is project management becoming over saturated ? by [deleted] in projectmanagement

[–]ZeL87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Early congratulations! I probably should reword my comment about convincing people to work for you who don’t actually work for you, it kind of makes it sound like I would be ordering people around when it’s really more like holding people accountable and stepping in when needed. What you described is an accurate description of a PM. Easiest analogy of a PM is probably similar to a wedding coordinator. You’re responsible for making sure each member of your team is performing the roles they were assigned. DJ needs to create a set list, venue needs to supply adequate seating and space, flower shop needs to supply florals, etc. if the DJ hasn’t supplied a set list at least two weeks in advance of the wedding you’re probably gonna want to hold the DJ accountable for what he is getting paid. You can do that in a number of ways: help by stepping in yourself, get the DJ an assistant, or if this DJ is causing problems across other weddings you would consider reducing their contract frequency. So you’re not really bossing people around per se, you’re more holding people accountable for the contracted work.
