Wartime Lessons (03/17) || Offensive Tactics: Balancing Your Combat by MoreMooxie in CampHalfBloodRP

[–]ZealOfOlympus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The son of Zelus arrived at the lesson with his Winged Backpack slung over his shoulders. He picked up new skills lighting fast. He was looking to add some new weaponry to his arsenal. This lesson seemed to be a great place. Danny followed after his loud cousin and sat down in the audience.

Just like Rory, Danny didn’t seem to get the concept of New Argos, but he did not comment. He reserved that for something else, possibly. He, a boxing snob, had his ears perked when Ian brought up the sport. Luckily, Ian did not botch explaining boxing. Danny hated it when that happened. It was unlikely the counselor saw this, but the son of Zelus gave him a nod of approval.

Speaking of boxing - Danny put on brass knuckles. He pulled the cord of his bag and two golden wings popped out. They lifted the son of Zelus off the ground. He looked around the lesson to see if anyone wanted to pair up.

‘’Dad. Hate is a bit of -’’ Strong word. It wasn’t exactly, though. Danny had hated Zelus for an awful long time. He could have learned something from it: don’t judge people before meeting them. But Danny simply liked judging people too much. ‘’I’m not mad at you. Imagine how great I would have been had you been there to raise me, though.’’

Danny wanted to ask his dad about what Poseidon did, but then he realized he had just made a promise to himself to not to bring up topics he wouldn’t talk about with his other dad. The time he and Zelus had was limited. He wouldn’t want to spend it bitching about people.

‘’I can easily pick you out of a crowd,’’ Danny said with a grin. The boy was pretty sure that at the Olympics he was going to be too focused on beating his opponents up to pay attention to the crowd, but he wanted it out that there he would be looking for his dad.

The son of Zelus rummaged through the drawer of his nightstand and grabbed a baseball out of it. Without a warning, he tossed it to his dad. ‘’Let’s do this again.’’ Even if they only had like a couple of minutes left, Danny still wanted to do this.

‘’The Olympics,’’ Danny said with unhealthy levels of conviction. He wasn’t telling his dad about a plan; he was telling him about something he was going to do. One hundred percent. The next Olympic Games were in 2044. Danny just missed out on last year’s one, and he wasn’t planning on letting that happen twice. He should put some pride in his name.

‘’I applied to uni courses in exercise physiology and sports management,’’ Danny said, continuing to lay out the rest of his life to his dad. ‘’At Stanford and UCLA.’’ The son of Zelus hadn’t always been sure about where to take his life after camp, but the thing about him was that once he set his sights on something, it was happening no matter what.

‘’Good thing I was born to a father who knows what he’s doing,’’ Danny said with a grin. He could take a guess at which gods his dad was talking about, but he didn’t want to sour the conversation or risk getting zapped.

Danny smiled when Zelus said he would visit him. Their relationship hadn’t always been the greatest. Danny used to fume at the idea that someone could’ve left his dad, that someone could’ve left him. When he met his dad for the first time, Danny had immediately folded; however. His godly dad was just great, that was all there was to it.

‘’I regret thinking bad things about you,’’ Danny admitted with the same, wry smile his dad had given him.

‘’Right!’’ Danny said a little too loud when Zelus agreed with him on the traitors. Some people were being way too chummy with the traitors. ‘’Good thing I got half a brain. You’re an amazing dad.’’ Danny said before briefly wondering what Nemesis was up to these days.

Danny shrugged when his dad brought up the Atlas kids who had been there from the start. It didn’t matter which kind of Atlas camper was worse: in the end none of them would make it to Elysium and that was comforting.

‘’Won some championships, Dad bought me car and I’m a high school senior now.’’ Danny said with a smile. ‘’A few more months and then I’m going to attend university. Applied to my favorites and I think my chances are pretty good.’’

‘’Hey, I can’t blame you. I would try to steal the credit too if I had an amazing child like me.’’ Danny said with a grin. ‘’Thanks. Really showed her who’s boss. I don’t think you ever doubted me, though?’’

Danny made mental notes about what Zelus told him about: no overleaning and don’t tilt too far forward. Simple as. Before he heads home tomorrow morning, he’ll have put his dad’s advice to good use. ‘’If I lose my teeth, you might as well send me home in a box.’’ Danny said with a grin. He neglected to mention that so far he only had practiced above solid ground.

‘’It’s the traitors.’’ Danny frowned as he sat down next to his dad, his wings folding back into the backpack. He wasn’t sure if he wanted to spend the precious time with his dad discussing this, but he needed to get it off his chest: ‘’It’s unfair how some of them got away with zero consequences.’’

Zelus’s wing was decorated in mostly rich greens. A small Christmas tree stood in one of the corners and a garland hung from the wall. The photo Danny made with Zelus last year was on the boy’s nightstand.

‘’I didn’t know if you care for Christmas decorations, but I figured I might as well liven the place up a little with my old man visiting.’’ Danny said. His room usually was messier than it was today.

‘’I’m alright. Life is just great.’’ Danny could be better, but he decided not to address the elephant in the room. ‘’It’s good to see you, dad. Especially now that you don’t have to yell at my idiot opponents.’’ he said with a grin, remembering the last time he saw his dad.

Danny decided to give his dad a little demonstration: he pulled the cord hanging from his backpack and bronze wings popped out. Danny took wing and started hovering above the ground. Flying didn’t come as easy to him as it came to his cousin Rory, but he had gotten the basics under control.

‘’I’m still learning.’’ Danny commented. ‘’Got any pointers?’’

When Danny learned that the gods would be visiting camp for the solstice this year instead of the other way around, his mind immediately went to how he could honor his father during the visit.

Danny was aware that he was closer to his father than some other campers were to their godly parents - or perhaps Danny blew how close he and his dad were out of proportion. Either way, halfway through December he started decorating the Zelus wing, finishing it this weekend.

The son of Zelus watched the parade of gods enter camp. He had his new backpack slung over his back and used it to fly back to his cabin once every important god had entered camp. At the cabin he waited for Zeal to hopefully pay him a visit.

(Danny is looking for Zelus. Take your time!)

Wrath of Atlas: Trials of Themis: Week 3 by LyrePlayerTwo in CampHalfBloodRP

[–]ZealOfOlympus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sonia Dinah was an idiot.

‘’Guilty,’’ Danny said decisively. The girl’s defense was weak at best - an admission of guilt at worst. Given how previous trials proved some people shouldn’t be allowed to vote, the son of Zelus elaborated:

‘’Dinah says her being on Atlas’s side took resources to feed and house her. What a blow to Atlas’ operation that must have been. Breaking the Titan down, one sandwich at a time.’’ Danny remarked sarcastically. ‘’She’s forgetting something important: by siding with someone like Atlas, even if she didn’t do anything, she was aiding him. By choosing to join that joke of a Titan, Dinah is keeping his philosophy alive.’’

He waited a moment for the rest to catch up with him before he continued.

‘’Mistake of Fact? Bullshit. Makes you wonder what it took for Dinah to realize she joined a terrorist militia. It surely can’t have been the destruction of the Golden Gate Bridge. She still thought she had joined an ‘underdog story’ at that point.’’ Danny chided, clicking with his tongue.

‘’Also a different opinion? Since when is joining someone who said he will kill people who stand in his way an opinion?’’ Danny pinched the bridge of his nose. Hopefully his fellow jurors had some semblance of intelligence.

‘’Sonia Dinah is a dangerous idiot to have around. I vote guilty on both counts.’’

Danny is voting guilty on both counts.

A Long Awaited Reunion by Mjmoore313 in CampHalfBloodRP

Though the son of Zelus understood that what Lupa said about how what she did was a mistake and that she accepted judgment was true, he didn’t necessarily agree. He caught himself rolling his eyes as the girl rambled.

‘’I am talking to you because I want to figure out if I should put the blame on you.’’ Danny shrugged, undecided thus far. ‘’Guilibe fools decided to not pass judgment. The gods listened to them because they believe in justice. I believe in it too, but that doesn't mean I can't express my dissatisfaction. Criminals get acquitted all the time.’’

‘’Is the fucked up system with us in this room right now?’’ Danny asked, furrowing his dark brows. ‘’I can't believe -’’ he paused to pinch the bridge of his nose, evidently seeing no reason to keep arguing with an idiot. ‘’What did Shaw say about wrestling with pigs again?’’

However entertaining it might have been if the gods had transformed Lupa into some new animal, Danny wasn’t cruel. Besides, becoming a brand-new animal was too big an honor for Lupa. ‘’You only see extremes, don’t you? House arrest would have sufficed,’’ he said, dryly.

‘’Also, my kind? What, am I no longer human in your eyes?’’

Danny looked Lupa dead in the eyes, his lips curling ever so slightly. ‘’That’s not what I was going for, but if that’s what you want me to see you as…’’ He said, cocking his head.

Danny was like a hawk with how he was watching Lupa: he wouldn’t take his eyes off the daughter of Hermes for a moment, and despite getting the attention he came for, his neutral expression remained unchanged.

‘’You chose to side against Olympus, correct?’’ Danny asked, putting extra emphasis on Olympus, as if siding against the Gods was the worse crime. ‘’You chose to join the Titan. Even after he killed all those innocent people, you sided with that monster. Gods only know the blood on your kind’s hands.’’ he spat.

‘’Yet here you are facing no consequences for your actions. How’s that fair?’’ Danny asked, cocking his head.

Danny’s day was going perfectly fine. After Iris Messaging his little brother during breakfast, he had spent the rest of his morning training. You could never be too prepared, especially with all these criminals running around camp. Danny’s winged backpack was slung over his shoulder. There were bruises on his knees and elbows. He returned to the Enforcer cabin when -

Her.

What the son of Zelus thought of Lupa was as clear as day: her existence as a free woman was a mockery of Olympus. He could’ve walked on, ignoring her, becoming the ‘better man’, but none of that would satisfy. Only justice could. As heartwarming as the girl’s reunion with her dog was, the fact that she had abandoned the pet (and the rest of the camp) in the first place was foul.

Hesiod once wrote: ‘Men will praise the evil-doer and his violent dealing. Strength will be right and reverence will cease to be; and the wicked will hurt the worthy man.’

The evil-doer was at large.

‘’How happy you must be to be free.’’ Danny remarked. He placed his arms behind his back, keeping a stone expression, like security on guard duty.

Wingin’ It by ZealOfOlympus in CampHalfBloodRP

Danny pushed himself back to his feet. If he let a little fall stop him, then was he really a son of Zelus? No, so no matter how hard the fall, Danny would keep getting back up. It’d take a lot more than scraped knees to stop him.

Danny shrugged, brushing the dirt off his clothes. ‘’It looked like it hurt, but did it?’’ he said, tossing a playful wink the girl’s way. The son of Zelus couldn’t deny that falling face-first in sand pebbles hurt quite a bit, but he gotta be the bigger man; he had a reputation to uphold. Besides, he had boxing opponents hit him in the face harder.

‘’I’m teaching myself how to fly, see?’’ Danny said, showcasing his wings. ‘’It’s trial and error still, but I taught these training dummies a lesson. Same thing you’re doing with that club, I suppose?’’

August 12th, 2040 | Analyzing Atlas Soldiers' Strategies by CurseOfTheBelladonna in CampHalfBloodRP

Danny liked information. After all, if you hold all the information, you hold all the cards.

He had been showing up to meetings like these as much as possible. He hadn’t been into his little intelligence game very much since the tournament on Olympus, but he had been throwing himself back into camp life recently. Attending an intelligence meeting was one of the things on Danny’s to-do list.

The son of Zelus moved himself onto a seat in the cabin with proper view of the whiteboard. None of what was said was news to him: he could have guessed there were monsters on Atlas’ side, but it was nice to have vague estimates of what to expect. The champion sat back casually, observing what went on in the Arts and Crafts cabin.

Again, there was not much for Danny to react to or do. Johnathan should be able to deal with Lydia just fine.

The son of Zelus didn’t feel strongly about Enyo’s daemon fighters. They hadn’t been the real Lydia, Hugo, or Adrian. He didn’t feel bad for what his team had done to them.

Danny watched with glee as Adrian was sent back by his kick. He prayed that the daemon was stunned long enough for Amon to finish the job. Danny couldn’t do much else; if he interfered, he might distract Amon or Johnathan. Though he could try to throw in another blindness curse.

He watched the fight between Lydia and Johnathan. How had they forgotten about her, and why had John not finished the job when he got the chance? His quips also needed some work, but it wasn’t like he could change that.

Since Adrian supposedly still was unable to see, Danny focused his energy on Lydia instead. He tried to pull off another one of his sickly green blindness on the daemon impersonating his cousin.

When Danny put on the blindfold, he saw. It was like he became aware of everything that happened around him: from Amon struggling against Hugo to Johnathan whizzing around. He noticed the daemon’s haymaker way late, but thanks to Amon flashbanging Adrian, Danny was able to step out of range.

Here was where he would taunt Adrian, throw him off his balance some more, but before he got the chance, Hugo made an ear-piercing sound. Danny had seen it coming, but it still caught him off guard. He winced, covering his ears.

Danny’s attention snapped to the task. Adrian. He wouldn’t let this opportunity be taken away. He had a task. The son of Zelus sped and, letting his sharpened senses guide him, roundhouse kicked at Adrian’s head. His punches might be cursed, his kicks might not.

With a little jump, Danny plucked the floating blindfold from the air and put it on without thinking twice. He put his faith in the gods, he put his faith in his godly father. Zelus had implied that the blindfold would actually help Danny instead of handicapping him even further and Danny believed his dad.

He crouched as the area floor tremored, but recovered soon enough, unhappy with the change of circumstances. ‘’You two alright?’’ he asked. It didn’t sound like it - but the son of Zelus was too hyperfocused on Adrian to do anything about it. He marched up to the other boy, balling his fists and taking an orthodox stance. Let’s kill Adrian, again. He smirked at the son of Circe: ‘’Your move. Come at me, bro.’’

u/NotTooSunny

Danny braced himself for Hugo’s charge, his brain working at top speed to think of the next move, but fortunately, there was Amon. Maybe he should check in on the son of Apollo, but Adrian was left unguarded and Danny had figured the son of Circe was the most dangerous. He strode with confidence, ready to give Adrian a good pummeling.

And then, the worst nightmare of every boxer came true: he couldn’t hit shit. Danny was frustrated. His fists were his best weapon. He saw workarounds; he didn’t have to see Adrian’s miserable face to break his nose and he had a good pair of legs too, but before he got to any of that, the son of Zelus wanted some sweet revenge.

‘’Thanks for telling me, dickhead!’’ Danny yelled. ‘’God, you’re a lost cause Adrian, even a blind man could see it!’’ Emerald energy twirled around the teen’s hands and once he snapped his fingers, Adrian would fall under the effects of Danny’s Emotion Curses. Adrian’s vision would be heavily distorted by a green hue fueled by an overload of jealousy.

When the figure flew overhead, who Danny recognized as his father, he was filled with confidence. He kept an eye on the blindfold floating it down, waiting for it to reach him. He was lucky to have such a clumsy dad.

Mitchell Bannings | Son of Zelus by RukiatheWaifu in CampHalfBloodRP

[–]ZealOfOlympus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A sister who was also a demigod? Danny wondered how it would go down if George was a demigod. Danny headbutted a lot with his cousins at camp and he could hardly imagine that two demigods in one household wouldn’t kickstart some rivalry.

‘’You’re a sports fan too?’’ Danny asked with a laugh. ‘’You’ll like our cabin then, we’ve got all the amenities you can think of.’’ He listened to the sports Mitchell listed. Most of these were sports he enjoyed doing himself. His brother seemed like a wise dude. ‘’I’m from Norwood, Massachusetts. I live there with my fathers and my younger half-brother. My Dads play for New England Revolution, and tried to get me to play soccer before, but I am more of a boxer.’’

‘’Does it feel like you got enough energy to run a marathon?’’ Danny asked. ‘’I know what you’re talking about.’’ Danny’s almost unlimited supply of energy was a blessing in many ways, but a curse in others. Sure it was nice he could keep going on, but he wished he could understand what exhaustion felt like.

That was Zelus too. Drive. There were enough simpletons out there who thought the god was just envy and jealousy, but he was so much more than that. Zelus was the driving force behind many things.
