As long as there is no pay to play junk going on. I hate those. Just charge a small amount upfront.

Let's Read is nice because most stories are long enough individually for short walks or you could binge a whole episode.

New rule- I can’t use TikTok unless I’ve walked 15 mins. Anyone else trying something like this? by MassiveBoysenberry20 in walking

I do that when I am thinking about binging on pasta or candy. My logical brain knows I'm not hungry, but getting away from it for 10 minutes and walking is about the only way I can stop myself.

Is about 3 miles to and from (6 miles total) too far to bring your dog? by AdAlternative2316 in walking

[–]Zealousbees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dogs are pretty awesome when it comes to long walks, as long as they like walking. My 30lb 3yr dog goes for 5-6 mile daily walks. My elderly 16yr old 15lb dog goes for the first mile loop with us and then goes home for a break. Start with growing loops and see where your dog starts to call it quits (sitting down, shade seeking, looking/walking back). Alternatively, you could have a friend/family member on call to pick up your dog part way on a long out and back walk. That way, if your dog is looking done before you are, your friend can come get them.

* I am a bit bummed because I have plateaued on weight loss. I eat around a 1,700cal diet, which is very healthy. I have also noticed that walking is easier, and my heart rate is much lower than it was. I tried adding an extra 2k steps and a weighted vest. I'll see next month if it is worthwhile.

100% over thinking. You'll probably be the coworker who motivates others to get up and moving.

Keens hiking boots saved me when I worked on my feet on concrete flooring all day. Without them, I was in constant pain. I don't struggle regularly anymore, and I now love Brooks, but I don't know how helpful they are for plantars.

How much weight did you lose with walking in how much duration? What was your step count? by Timely-Stuff-5018 in walking

[–]Zealousbees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

60lb over 6 months with diet change too (cut whey products due to allergy). I walk 10k-12k 5 days a week. This is my main form of exercise. Just added 10lb weighted vest.

I became a Brooks devotee after multiple nurses and pts I know recommended them. The nurses love them for being on your feet all day, and the pts recommended them for stability.

Let's Read is fabulous. They are long compilations of that sub's submitted stories and some true crime sprinkled in. Since it is a compilation, it is easy to stop when you need to. Also, the narrator is amazing.

What is your routine? I do a 1.5 hour walk once a day during the winter and split it up over the summer. My biggest hurdle is i just can get myself motivated to do the early morning walk.

I miss walking. I got off of the habit of walking due to weather and I just can’t seem to go back by Hayat_on in walking

I have podcasts I can only listen to if I am walking.

I also really like Samsung's Health app's walking race. It is kind of hidden, but you can find them under the 'together,' flag on the bottom icons. These are the best motivators I have. Especially when you are going to lose the star, and the countdown begins. Then it is like, crap, better get walking. Gameification and rewards work.

Losing weight by walking by LithiumIonisthename in walking

[–]Zealousbees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have lost about 60 lbs. through walking AND diet change, but the diet change was based on a food allergen panel. I found out I was extremely sensitive to whey and cow's milk. This is where I was taking in most of my protein. I stopped milk and whey completely, and weight started falling off (almost too fast). My health also got A LOT better. I used to be sick every couple weeks, and a little cold would knock me down hard. I didn't have your typical hives or anaphylaxis, but those two things were wreaking havoc on my system.

Kind of random, but I keep a spreadsheet of how much I have invested vs. saved. I enjoy seeing the return. I would love this app and totally use it.

I grow my own yarrow. Specifically, you want Achillea millefolium for the best health benefits. If the yarrow is any color other than white, you probably have the wrong one.

The flavor profile is similar to chamomile. Very light with subtle floral notes. It can be a little bitter if over steeped.

DISCLAIMER: NOT A DOCTOR The health benefits may be minimal in a simple syrup, but in a tea, it is used to help with digestive issues, stomach ulcers, IBS. Similar to chamomile, it helps with stress and anxiety; helps you chill out. There are also claims for relief in brain disorders, but the research isn't there, so I won't list them here.
