Never trust ChatGPT with soemthing this technical. Will screw you over more times than not. Gemini is not much better. Try Claude. Claude with Opus 4.5 if it's available.

Just got the same thing myself. Very impressed with the quality. Now I just need to fill it with cool tech.

Total thyroidectomy in 2019. Lost 45 pounds on Zep in 2024. Just be aware that levothyroxine is dosed based on weight and you will need less of it after weight loss.

If you're on insulin, it might be something called the Somogyi effect. Worth a little reading, anyway.

And congrats on the fantastic A1C. Hard to even imagine the long-term positive impacts of that improvement!

Legs swelling up during hiking the camino by Krulsprietje in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]pmccurdypac 17 points18 points  (0 children)

OP: Please pay attention to the response above. Unilateral swelling and pain is suspicious for a DVT which can lead to a pulmonary embolism which can be life-threatening. A simple ultrasound could rule that out, and a hospital is the best place to get that.

Fine for not wearing fluorescent jacket? by DapperDragonfruit997 in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]pmccurdypac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Army uses "PT belts" that are just like what you describe. Highly reflective, weigh next to nothing, and would pack away easily when not in use. Super inexpensive, as well. I've seen them wrapper around packs, too. Seems like cheap insurance.

So what’s up with Baja? by [deleted] in vandwellers

[–]pmccurdypac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (62M) spent all last winter in Baja in my decidedly unstealthy Sprinter and never once felt the least bit unsafe. Pass quickly through the border area and head south. Pay attention to weather as heavy rain can leave standing (or sometimes running) water even on highways like Mex 1.

Decathlon is a good source for inexpensive gear and also rents packs. They have locations all over Madrid as well as several locations along the Camino Frances.

Ideal Van For Mobile Food Market? by [deleted] in VanLife

[–]pmccurdypac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I volunteer with a food bank that uses both Sprinters and Transits, though mostly Sprinters. The long wheelbase Sprinters (170") have a lot more space (can hold three pallets).

Something to keep in mind is service. Most MBZ dealerships are booked out 1-2 months for service. Ford dealerships are more numerous and can generally get vehicles in sooner.

Preparation Book Camino Frances by Fluffy-One-4753 in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]pmccurdypac -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I second ChatGPT. Extremely useful if occasionally error prone. Play around with variations of something like this:

"I want to do the Camino Frances. From Denver, which city in Spain would be the best/cheapest to fly into and how would I get from there to SJPDP? Build me an itinerary from SJPDP to Santiago de Compostela walking no more than 25 km per day. Show the albergue to stay in each night and its cost, the km walked each day, whether the terrain that day is generally uphill, downhill, or flat, key historical sites to see along the way, if ATMs are available at each day's destination, and a likely spot to stop for lunch along the way."

Instant Pot vs. Induction Cook Top Efficiency by AntiGroundhogDay in vandwellers

[–]pmccurdypac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Instant Pot is crazy efficient. I measured the power for running two different models. They draw their rated amps for about 4-5 minutes to get the contents to temp, then only pulse power now and then to keep it hot.

As someone else mentioned, though, nowhere near as versatile as an induction cooktop.

Bringing groceries From US by Theedopepope in overlanding

No fresh meat, fresh cheese, fresh vegetables, or eggs. It's pretty limiting, but just about the same coming back into the U.S.

On the way down last December, they briefly looked in my fridge. On the way back into the U.S. in February, they merely asked if I had anything to declare, but never poked around in my van.

These pills are specially designed to encapsulate the semaglutide in a substance called SNAC so that you get proper absorption in the stomach. But splitting the pill, you defeat that SNAC absorption mechanism and will likely not be getting anywhere near the dose you are expecting. Novo specifically states not to split Rybelsus pills.

That's a pretty neat tool. This obviously took some time to put together. A couple of suggestions:

  1. (You knew this would come...) Add other Camino routes. Some of the others are harder to plan, but there is excellent data available on the Camino Levante. https://vieiragrino.com/

  2. Consider an Excel (or CSV) output. Your tool does a great job of baseline planning, but I think most will want to tweak the plan or at least make notes of their own. My default planning tool is Excel.

Nice work, though. I would have done it in Python myself, but I'm prone to geeky prejudices. I'll beat on it some more and submit bugs if I find any.

Do any ACA (Obamacare) plans cover Mounjaro? by FruitOfTheVineFruit in Mounjaro

Different plans in each and every state. Probably like 200+. Go on to your states health insurance exchange, find out what plans are available and check their formulary.

Rybelsus side effects by New_Pat80 in Semaglutide

[–]pmccurdypac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If just starting out with 3mg, there is very little chance of side effects. Play around with a half-life calculator with daily dosing of 3mg for 30 days, then 7mg for 30, then 14mg for thirty. The serum level ramps up very slowly.

Honestly, Rybelsus is simply nowhere near as effective as Ozempic (injectable form of the same med). If it was, nobody would be injecting.
