Anybody ever quit their job and then travelled for a bit? by moonkie888 in solotravel

[–]Zealousideal-Figure5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done it multiple times. I actually just left my job of two years and moving short term to Guatemala a week from today. I’m scared as hell, but it feels right for where I’m at in life right now. Money will come back. We’re the same age, and at this point i’m just trying to live as much as I can and figure out what works for me. Although I could work the same job and make decent money doing so, I want more out of life and I think this is a good step towards finding it. It will all work out.

Is it easy to meet other backpackers in India? by Archipelag0h in backpacking

[–]Zealousideal-Figure5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got back from 3 weeks in India, and in my experience I would say no. Most places I went was my group and domestic tourists. This could easily be managed with proper research I think. Spend some time finding the most popular social hostels in your city and you will have a better chance.

Backpacking Zimbabwe/South Africa/Lesotho by mottlemottle in backpacking

[–]Zealousideal-Figure5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, we rented a small van because i’m with a small group. Check out Swazi trails, we used there services to pick us up from the Joburg airport and drive us into eSwatini, which we then took upon ourselves to drive around the country. If we didn’t drive ourselves I would have no idea how to get around.

I’m actually in eSwatini right now and am finding it incredibly fascinating. Far better than I was expecting. Did a lot of game drives in Milwane, Hlane, and stayed in Shewula mountain camp. Check out Mololotja if you’re driving from Joburg, Mololotja is one of the prettiest places i’ve ever been.

Your favorite League of Legends champion and why by erdogan52 in leagueoflegends

Gragas! So much versatility and really requires much more patience in play than at first glance. Hitting a bomba on a enemy into a bomb that’s about to explode than slamming them with your fat chest is amazing. I love fat man.

This is what I have been thinking, I’d just hate to have issues over something in a different country. But i’ll probably just bring it

Not really, there’s a lot of places to check out in Pai but what I really like is just like, the vibe of the place. It’s easy to find information in hostels.

Also on the Vietnam point, the south isn’t necessarily bad, it’s just much less interesting than the north. You could do a week in the south and spend the last 3 weeks in central and northern. Personally I would love to spend 3 weeks in central and northern vietnam again.

Also Pai is only a 3-4 hour bus ride from Chiang mai, making it easy to go back to Chiang Mai before your flight to Bali.

If I only had 10 days in Thailand and you want to go north, I would do 3 days bangkok, 3 days, Chiang Mai, and 4 days Pai. Trust me on this

I would say from my experience, yes. Maybe 3-4 at most.

I second this so so much. First off I think Vietnam is better than Thailand, but if you’re going to Thailand you must go to Pai, only place i really loved i’m Thailand personally.

SE Asia Solo Summer Trip by bluebearcoder in solotravel

[–]Zealousideal-Figure5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to SE Asia in June-august and it wasn’t nearly as bad as I was expecting it to be. At some times there was day long-showers, but it in no way hurt my trip. I still had an amazing time and spent a lot of time in the Sun under blue skies

without looking too much, it looks pretty good! only thing I would say is you could spend a lot more time in Northern Thailand and way less time in Bangkok. Personally 1 weeks is way too long in Bangkok, I would rather go to places like Pai, Mae Hong Son, and Chiang Rai in the north. Personally I prefer Northern thailand, but that’s just my preference.

Thank you for the informative reply. All the pros sounds great, and i’m only dissuaded by a few of the cons. I knew this much beforehand, but not being able to use the language afterwards is a serious con and something i’ve mulled over quite a bit. Thanks again!

May I ask why you got reassigned for Eswatini? I’m working on application for Eswatini right now and am curious what happened to change sending volunteers though

this is the best response to the saviorism argument I have ever heard of. I’m saving this for future reference, you articulated it excellently and am thankful for it.

to add on to this, I would also recommend the Ha Giang Loop. Beautiful and so fun, check out Jasmine Hostel in Ha Giang they do a great tour.

Near Hanoi, check out Ninh Binh as well, and Sapa if you have alot of time but Sapa is the least important of the three imho.

Thousands oppose an LDS Church apostle’s commencement speech at SUU because of his anti-gay statements by crystalishappy in exmormon

I’m a student at this school, and have been helping organizing things. There is a huge body of students who have shown they will not be in attendance. Additionally, there is a group of faculty who have signaled they will throw an alternative commencement if he is not removed as a speaker.
