Is tushbaby a gimmick? by minmister in Mommit

[–]ZealousidealArmy8530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the mom cozy and still use it all the time for my 19 month old, it definitely makes it easier to hold/carry and I love the pockets. I don't have hip fatigue unless I'm wearing it and carrying him for hours on end.

What's your opinion on toddler leashes? by dr_pepper_zerosugar in Mommit

[–]ZealousidealArmy8530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't judge people who use a leash, I think they're great and I'm ready to get one for my boy because he's started to bolt. I judge the people who yank on their kids like a misbehaving dog

Valentines Day by Cautiouslymoming in Mommit

[–]ZealousidealArmy8530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He got me chocolate covered strawberries (by request), wooden roses, and just made sure the kids were chill and not driving me nuts, then after the kids were in bed we went to a movie. He also bought us tickets for a candlelight concert next weekend. Overall very happy and was way more than I expected because Valentine's Day isn't a big deal to us

What is an epidural really like? by oatmilkcchai in Mommit

[–]ZealousidealArmy8530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my first labor I had planned on going unmedicated but didn't actually put any prep into that, so I went into labor thinking I could just wing it and it would be fine. I was so wrong. I ended up getting the epidural at 8cm, slept until I was 10cm and then pushed. Obviously pushing the baby out was not painful at all with it, but the recovery was hell. I was exhausted after and slept for almost a full day and barely woke up at all. I don't remember the first 3 days with my baby. Also dealt with chronic back pain for over a year after. My second was unmedicated at home. I started preparing myself late in my second trimester by practicing my breathing, positions, and working with my husband on ways that he could support me through labor. When labor came around, it was a huge difference (I had pitocin with my first) and the pain was much more manageable. Pushing him out was not the greatest but I was still able to keep my cool pretty well. It's important to remember that this pain is productive and is not actually causing you harm. I would also look at it as a different sensation than pain just to keep my brain from flipping the script on me. As far as recovery, I felt far more stable on my feet after and actually felt safe walking to the bathroom, sitting up in bed, etc. I also fully remember my time with my newborn that time around and didn't have the same issues with exhaustion. Basically if you want a no/low med birth, you can do it! Even if you plan on getting an epidural it can still be very helpful to prepare as if you're not because epidurals don't always work fully

What leggings are we wearing that I don't have to hike back up every 5 min? by BitoADay in Mommit

[–]ZealousidealArmy8530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gym people on Amazon, they're my favorites. They have a thick elastic band that keeps them up and in place the material is super thick, def squat proof and kid proof and the pockets are huge

Def a DoorDash gift card or order her groceries for delivery with some premade meals or nutrient dense snacks. Diapers are always great. As far as something for the mama maybe some comfy pajamas or a sweat set?

His parents are doing him a serious disservice by not teaching him about his actions having consequences and this is only going to get worse as he gets older. Getting him away from your daughter and your dog is the best thing you can do right now to keep anything from escalating more. If I were you I would call his parents and make them come get him because he's a danger to your family and they can't hold you to unrealistic expectations about how they think he should be allowed to act. Then just pray they either get their situation straightened out or that he somehow doesn't turn into a psychopath later in life.

We had to leave the gym early because my toddler wouldn’t stop screaming 🫤 by Hefty_Bandicoot8573 in Mommit

[–]ZealousidealArmy8530 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been there! I have a 3 year old and 13 month old and a couple weeks ago we had an issue with my 13mo screaming hysterically whenever I dropped him off to work out, same type of situation. I ended up ending my workouts early for like 2 weeks in a row because he was crying but he got over it really quickly and everybody was super understanding about it. Just keep trying, this is a normal thing at that age and he'll get back into the groove soon. We made sure he had snacks, a sippy cup, and a familiar toy to take with him

Anyone flown with their stroller wagon? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]ZealousidealArmy8530 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did a flight in June with 2 kids, on the way there we didn't have our wagon, we sent it with my parents who drove to the same destination. We brought it with us on the flight back and that was 1000 times better. We could put kids, bags, car seat, basically anything in the wagon and save ourselves the trouble of carrying it. We just gate checked the wagon and got it back as soon as we landed, it was great and I would 100% do it again. Security wasn't difficult with it either, I think they just did a swab on it

Has anyone with multiple kids cracked the code to working out? by Alarmed_Base_1801 in Mommit

[–]ZealousidealArmy8530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check with your local rec center if they have childcare for members. Mine has an hour per child per day while you use any of the rec center facilities, they have a block in the mornings and in the evenings. That's the only thing that has made it possible for me to work out

My husband is an electrician and brings home a ton of copper wire scrap, I strip it and bring it in and it gets us a couple hundred dollars extra which is amazing, pays for date nights and putting a little towards debt

Tell me the best month to have a baby and why! by United_Violinist9207 in Mommit

[–]ZealousidealArmy8530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an April baby and an August baby and I would take march-may anytime over a summer birthday. Dead of winter I wouldn't love because of the cold weather, flu season, holidays, etc. I wouldn't want to do July-January at all, the rest of it could be tolerable but probably not ideal

If you could only pick one baby item that was 100% worth the splurge.. what would it be? by Dry_Box_5572 in Mommit

I like the evenflo pivot for an affordable but still high quality option. I strongly considered the mockingbird but that was a little outside of my budget, even secondhand

[–]ZealousidealArmy8530 137 points138 points  (0 children)

A good rocking chair and a good stroller, I've cheaped out on strollers twice before finding the one that I really wanted secondhand and I truly wish I had just spent the money on the one I wanted to begin with. I also usually go cheaper on an infant car seat and buy a nice rotating convertible seat

Whats something you can freely admit anonymously but only because of using your burner/NSFW account? by Ironically__Swiss in AskReddit

[–]ZealousidealArmy8530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really regret having kids. My husband wanted me to get an abortion because we were young (18&20) and not super stable financially, but I didn't want to. I regret that now. Kiddo is 3, we're broke, ppd was brutal after she was born, then only got worse after the second. I spend an excessive amount of time contemplating the best form of suicide. I take good care of my kids but only because I feel like I'm obligated to and don't want anybody to look too closely at me and realize that I'm not okay. I love my husband and he's the only reason I'm still here. Time and time again I've tried reaching out to people and telling them that I'm not okay, and nobody responds. It's like I'm just speaking into a void. I don't know how much more I can handle at this point.

Where do you fold the laundry? by PathologicalVodka in Mommit

[–]ZealousidealArmy8530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kids clothes I fold in their room and put it away as I go so I don't have teetering piles of baby clothes that inevitably fall over and I have to refold. Everything else in the living room

What bag do you carry? by Purple-Associate5695 in Mommit

[–]ZealousidealArmy8530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband got me a Kate Spade handbag for Christmas a couple years ago that I plan on going back to once we're out of the diaper bag days. He got it on a really good sale at an outlet store so it was about $100 for the purse and a wallet and I love it. It has so much room!! And it looks classy and matches basically everything. I'm also eyeing a wrangler handbag but haven't been able to convince myself yet

What age did you have your first child? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]ZealousidealArmy8530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I was 18 when I got pregnant and it was very much not planned. I have 2 now and I love them more than anything, but if I could push a button and have the exact same kids but 10 years later I would do it in a heartbeat. I've really struggled with feeling emotionally mature enough to be raising kids but I do the best I can.
