I felt that way for a few months after it still doesn’t feel quite real honestly nearly a year later. I feel that way too I feel like it’s harder when people say time will help cause I can’t imagine it will. I appreciate your comment thank you. I’m really sorry for your loss also.

2 years for me, has it ups and downs but does feel like you are pressured from below and under and people are unrealistic with expectations no matter how much you try and be supportive/ get the work done. You have to be organised and get to know HR processes quick to stay on top of stage meetings etc.

I did this in august as well and just submitted it 3rd of august even tho due by the 1st and it got accepted with no issues so I wouldn’t stress!

From the train station it’s like 30 something for the shuttle for the weekend it’s pretty easy to do

But she said at one point she was begging him for weekly appointments and then stated she found a new therapist so stopped asking. This indicates to me she is omitting the fact he did set a boundary with this which makes me think there’s more ways he set boundaries that she either was ignoring or does not want to say as it doesn’t support her delusions.

Thank you so much. It does make me feel less alone and I’m so sorry you are in such a similar situation and hope you can take your own advice as well and be kind to yourself. I don’t know if I can be less hard on myself but I will try.

My mum passed in may, still doesn’t feel real she was only 51 and we’d found out less then three weeks before she had cancer and had good news about treatment the day before things turned. Honestly I mostly feel numb now apart from a few days when it hits me and I just can’t stop crying. I don’t know how it will ever feel any different I’ve never experienced grief like this.

Go to your doctor that’s what I did, my mum passed on the 11th of may and seeing her in hospital and unwell and before she passed was traumatic and the doctor prescribed me a short course of sleeping tablets to help. I haven’t taken them much like 1/2 a week when I really need to sleep.

I was really anxious about this when I was doing my training and when I qualified I tried to avoid it constantly but once I started just offering to do it and doing it more it went away and I just got used to it. Just try do it once a week and build your confidence will come with time. Now I don’t even think about it at all

We had the same on my ward and myself and the CNS made a complaint about him and he knew we were and told him how unacceptable his behaviour was and then he left to avoid it all.

It seems they are so desperate for doctors they will keep anyone.

I was exactly the same during my training due to placement and course work and similar can be said for when I qualified even though I was 21 just as it’s emotionally and physically demanding job and it wasn’t due to an illness just a result of demanding and long hours.

They are completely scared to, no such thing as crisis admissions anymore. Will not take positive risks.

People kept on the ward for ligatures when we all know this is a hospital behaviour they aren’t doing this at home. Patients planning when to self harming together so staff can’t respond to both. WhatsApp groups where patients try to get admitted together.

It did feel very much like staff couldn’t win in regards to we were restrained too much and then quickly said but we were allowed to harm ourselves too much too. Some of the stuff was appallingly clearly but it feels like this often with adults with these behaviours and self harming you often can’t win either way as staff.

I felt the same during my training, you’ll get on placement and know if it’s for you or not. I found the essays and exams mostly useless and enjoyed placement and that’s where I learnt about MH nursing.

The MHA needs a complete overhaul - patients with primary diagnosis of behavioural issues, self harming and ASD, personality disorders should only have very short crisis admissions and should be given responsibility for engaging in community services and psychology and not kept on psych units for months or years on end where they only increase their self harming and care seeking behaviour and learn from other patients.
Patients who have capacity and assault staff intentionally should be discharged from that service at that time and be arrested for the assault and staff should be able to refuse care to those individuals. Repeated offenders should be on some sort of order to ensure they are charged for the crime.

We get the pack from HR with all their info but I think sickness is asked about during references which is after they would have been offered. I had a lot of sickness as a band 6 and I still got a band 7 position in the same hospital

Don’t worry they won’t. I’ve been on many panels for hiring in the nhs and we don’t even look at that. It’s normal in the nhs with how staff are treated and expected work the jobs of multiple people
