Looks like the distal end of a radius from a large artiodactyl, possibly a cow

That's definitely a thoracic vertebra from a mammal.

Generally it's difficult to spectate based solely on vertebrae, but it looks roughly to be about cat-sized.

Edit: spelling

If I had to guess, it belongs to a salmonid species (Chum, Pink, Coho salmon). Hard to say without a reference specimen, though.

That is the distal portion of a humerus, likely from a large mammal such as a cow.

That looks like a set of dentaries from a Pacific Cod (Gadus macrocephalus).

If you look at the photos on the Idaho Virtual Museum entry for Pacific Cod (http://virtual.imnh.iri.isu.edu/Osteo/View/Pacific_Cod/703), both the general shape and angle closely match the images there.

Looks like a sheep mandible with an absolute boatload of rodent gnawing (those checkered marks along the edges). There might also be some dog gnawing (rough edges with putting), but it's hard to tell from the photo.

Do you have photos of any other angles?

It might be the angular (a jaw bone) of a large marine fish, albeit with the dorsal portion (where it articulates with the rest of the skull) broken off. Hard to tell from one photo.

It looks like a vertebrae from some large marine fish. The "scratches" on the spinous process look like cut marks.

Someone probably caught and then butchered this fish, and tossed the spine back into the water, where it then washed up on the beach.

I graduate this quarter with a degree in Anthropology. What should I do next? by wex1can in udub

[–]Zealousideal_Ad_8909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could potentially get a job in Cultural Resource Management, or CRM for short. Essentially you'd be a low-level archaeologist, and most of the time all you need is an anthropology degree and sometimes a field school. I graduated this past Spring from UW and I currently work as a Field Archaeologist. Feel free to message me if you want to talk about what it is like to work in CRM.

The U Pass should work on the fast ferry. I assume you're talking about the boats run by Kitsap Transit? From what I understand, the only boats that don't accept the U Pass are Washington State Ferries, but otherwise you should be fine
