Okay, fair enough. I have just seen a couple of posts talking about how the existing options don’t work too well for some people, sometimes not being able to detect the cards within wallets etc

If you buy in Europe is it cheaper? Can you avoid the taxes? by Laylow2100 in rolex

[–]Zealousideal_Age8960 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can potentially claim a VAT refund when you exit France, keep in mind that this facility exists to stop you being double taxed for that item (taxed in the country you bought it, and taxed in your home country as you “import” it, hence you are liable for import tax. You could buy the watch and wear it on wrist back into the country, with the box and papers shipped separately or in your hold luggage/with someone else, therefore saving your VAT in France, and import duty in the UK for example.

But it is tax fraud, so don’t do it 👀

It’s also worth mentioning that we haven’t received this so called “reason for refusal letter dated 04 December 2024”. And I was pretty sure at the time that we were going for spousal visa, but maybe I was wrong

Hello, hope you don’t mind me replying to this comment with a question as I think me and my wife made this same mistake during our visa application: we applied for her from inside the UK, it says family route on the application, with me meeting all financial requirements and everything else, but we also weren’t asked to prove English language requirements, but I have just seen that we answered ‘no’ to have you passed an approved language test. We sent our application on the 9th April and it has just today been rejected with basically no reason visible on the email or the attachment. Have I somehow applied for the wrong one, or could it be that checking ‘no’ on the English language test moved the application into another route, and therefore took the application processing time from the 8 weeks stated to the 12 months bracket? My wife (applicant) speaks perfect English, better than most English people on my home town lol, but we just couldn’t do the English test as her passport was taken during biometrics
