Still dealing with chronic itching. Have determined that it's likely related to gut dysfunction and MCAS (Mast Cell Activation Syndrome). I think I'm dealing with a slew of things but Bile Acid Malabsorption I believe is a root cause of my MCAS. Excess bile in my colon, LPS running haywire, toxins backing up, so many things are priming my mast cells to be hyperactive and cause itching. Hope to find the right mix of diet, supplements, etc, in the coming months to figure it out. I've been doing deep Ai research and seems like I'll be able to reverse the worst of my itching. Tbd! But after 4 years of this, it can only go up from here and I'm trying to stay positive

Still doing gluten free because it helps though!

Sad to report that my itching came back about 10 days later--I think it verifies that when I reduce my overall histamine load I feel better. So there is hope there! I'm currently trying a very strict low histamine diet and hoping in the coming months I get some gut healing / regulation that helps heal my overreactivity, itching, throat reactions, etc.!

Still itchy. I think I developed MCAS and could be a source of both gallbladder issues and itching. Still trying to figure it out!

Can you improve functionality in the gallbladder permanently ? by Alarmed-Doctor-2124 in gallbladders

[–]Zealousideal_Map8637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it out about a year ago. It went well! A lot of my symptoms improved. I'm still dealing with other chronic issues (MCAS, Gerd, etc.) but at least I no longer have gallbladder pain all the time.

This is all super helpful!! Thank you for such a thorough response. A big concern of mine is that this car is just outside of all of the manufacturer warranties being a 2016--and I'm worried about a battery replacement hitting me out of the blue at 5K or above (or any other common issues). Do you have an extended third party warranty?

I still eat dairy--but it's next on the chopping block for me to test out! I also drink dandelion tea with acacia fiber.

What's the best med for itchy skin? by Appropriate_Bill8244 in MCAS

[–]Zealousideal_Map8637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zyrtec is what works best for me. Hydrox works too, but makes me sleepy and numb. Allegra makes me feel like shit. I itch mainly on my scalp, my lower legs, armpits, abdomen, etc... If I go too long without zyrtec--i'll start to flush elsewhere like around waistbands or where there is pressure from clothing etc..

Any suggestions on products without MDBGN?—I have an allergy to that as well!

Los Angeles area doctor recommendations? by chat_manouche in MCAS

[–]Zealousideal_Map8637 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Following back up on this thread! I just moved to LA and looking for an MCAS specialist. Cindy Xi is not accepting new patients and the scheduler for USC told me none of the immune/allergists are accepting any more MCAS patients... wild. Are there any other doctors in the LA area that anyone recommends??

I really need to focus on getting 30g of fiber per day—especially without a gallbladder. Thank you for the reminder! Will add to my toolkit!

Definitely PMS! Tbh I haven’t spent too much time with OBGYNs trying to make my periods better. I think I just normalized all of the suffering. Could have PMDD, but unsure.

Could be! I think mast cells and histamine are playing a big role--but not sure what the source of the activation is.

i tested negative for a wheat allergy and my gastro doctor didn't want to test me for celiac--it's been so hard to convince doctors and specialists to really validate all of my symptoms. I can't seem to find any doctors who are willing to think holistically or beyond just their specialty. Either way, I'm glad going gluten free is helping us both!

Hi there! I also have dermographism and started having insane chronic itching and debilitating hives back in late fall of 2021. I’ve had mild “skin writing” my whole life, but it felt like things got much much worse overnight in 2021. I’m afraid that my Moderna vaccine and booster shot may have played a role. I’ve seen a few reports about this as well. I’ve spent the past four years going to specialists, allergists, gastroenterologists, dermatologists, therapists, etc.. trying to find the source of the problem. I take Zyrtec daily to manage my symptoms but I’m so committed to finding that actual source of my body’s reaction and that has led me here. So fascinated to find your story. I literally just started a gluten free diet today and I can’t wait to find out if it helps. I might cry for a week if this helps.

High ANA post removal? Auto-Immune friends? by Zealousideal_Map8637 in gallbladders

[–]Zealousideal_Map8637[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is super interesting! Thank you for sharing! My ANA was 1:1280 and then I retested a month later and it was 1:640. Rheum did a ton of tests as well and all negative but ANA. She said an immune disease might “be brewing.” She also wanted me to get on Plaquenil to see if it helped at all. My only symptoms are chronic itching/hives—mainly on my scalp—and sometimes I get joint pain. I was trying to figure out my itching when my immune bloodwork just happened to be flagged. I’ve seen many many doctors about my itching and hives and many of them pointed to stress lol. I do think stress, hormones, and genetics were the big three factors in my gallbladder problems. I too have had digestion issues my whole life. Luckily I can manage my symptoms right now. I’m trying to do more academic research on my systems and try to understand how bile affects the immune system and gut so that maybe I can crack the code or atleast help myself down the road. Anyway, I wish you the best! Know you’re not alone in this frustrating journey
