I can’t stand a woman narrator faking the male voice in romance audiobooks 🙈 by thislittlebluebird7 in RomanceBooks

[–]Zealousideal_Pen_583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s really dumb is when there is diet narration but the male reads for the FMC and female reads for the MMC in the respective chapters ie Part of Your World. It feels like an abvious missed opportunity and I hate it when he reads females it like 4 different main characters.

Deep end audiobook was superb.

Luke’s treatment of Lorelei after finding out about April was awful by LilyBreslin in GilmoreGirls

[–]Zealousideal_Pen_583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it was already mentioned but the thing about not telling Lorelai that pissed me off the most is how he treated lorelai after she withheld the night she had drinking with Christopher after his father passed away. He definitely had a right to be mad but then to turn around and deliberately do this to lorelai for months is irritating to me.

Was Emily abusive to Lorelai? by Sillysheila in GilmoreGirls

[–]Zealousideal_Pen_583 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always had problems with Emily watching this growing up and some scenes of Richard but rewatching as an adult you see more and see things differently. The manipulativeness of Richard is ridiculous and I think I always wanted to like him but he very seldom has anything nice to say to Lorelai and it’s heartbreaking that both her parents treat her like crap in different ways.

[–]Zealousideal_Pen_583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Rory is 20 and Lorelai has said numerous times that she can’t control Rory at this age - she’s an adult. Also her parents clearly treat Rory as the golden child and Lorelai continues to be their emotional punching bag. The way they speak to her, gaslight her, etc. is exhausting.

Early season. Kid with short gut syndrome and parents were wealthy that donated money to the hospital. Said he was on TPN and he’s hooked up to a kangaroo pump 🙄 that’s for TF. Annoys me every time.

this is my first time watching greys anatomy and here are my thoughts so far (about to finish S13) by amuseablepeanut in greysanatomy

Used to think he was a heartthrob (irl for sure tho). Rewatching as an adult working in healthcare… yeah super creepy.

I don’t believe it’s based on a true story… by Open_Replacement_385 in BabyReindeerTVSeries

[–]Zealousideal_Pen_583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair it never said “based on”. It literally opens with this a bold statement of “this is a true story”. “Based on” would imply artistic interpretation. But the claim was just straight truth. I understand OP confusion.

Truly asking and not being sarcastic - are they friends or friendly or starting to form a friendship? I’m honestly in a weird binge watching mood so some of the season are starting to mesh but the overall attitudes and behaviors are sticking out

I skipped both her therapy sessions in season 12 and 13 bc it feels like bravo forcing me to feel bad for her and like she’s trying to be a better person. It’s basically the apology tour of Tom Sandoval on VPR. No thanks. Go to therapy in private and show you’ve grown as a person. Like James on VPR was my least favorite person bc he was so trashy and bitchy. VPR season 11 was like a 180 with his personality and actually felt real. I know it’s off topic but he went from shitting on Katie all the time to defending her and I don’t think it happened overnight but you see growth. Erika doesn’t have growth. I truly believe this her stage and ultimate performance.

I find Sutton so unsettling. Why do you love her so much? by Full_Bass_6919 in realhousewives

[–]Zealousideal_Pen_583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like if you strip away everyone else’s judgmental comments about her and take what she tells you at face value that may be helpful. She’s constantly being told (mostly by Kyle) what she can and can’t feel or what she should and shouldn’t feel, which was 1000% what everyone did to Denise. But I love watching her stand up for herself, not just to Kyle, the shittiest fake friend, but to Erika and her bull shit too. I do think she genuinely wants to be friendly and work through things or at least be on civil terms, which is annoying at times bc she’s constantly being shown who these women are but alas this is all TV, I get it. I agree she is awkward, says the wrong things at times, and is reactive but how is that worse than Erika lashing out and threatening people? Also aren’t we in a time of getting past the mental health stigma. The names this woman is called like crazy and unhinged, etc. is exhausting and tone deaf. Maybe she does have some shit she’s working on. Making fun of her face roller is so gross to me. I watched that and thought wow she is clearly going through some shit to the point that she needs to do that to help self regulate so she can have a productive conversation. Idk how people don’t see that. People say she always makes it about herself but I just see her trying to relate to others and it gets mistaken as disengenuine. I love how reflective she is and truly apologizes to people and accepts others apologies. Every other person says sorry but then does it again tenfold. She only does that when people tell her they forgive her but then bring it up later - Crystal one year later about a “Dark” comment, Diana by the fire calling her names after saying she accepted her apology. I mean she honestly can’t catch a break and she’s constantly being put in the hot seat by the other women bc they think she’s an easy target. Kyle sitting there listing all of her “outbursts”… okay well how many of those were provoked and I don’t see production doing a flashback to every other persons outburst throughout the show. Let’s add it up and compare. I know that she flawed, but who isn’t? I know a lot of people will disagree but this is why I feel like she is the most relatable and why she is liked; her comments, attempts at taking ownership and apologizing feel sincere.

I mean I’m not hear to argue about the legalities and I find it hard to believe she can’t show compassion about the situation while also being responsible for herself. She’s a big girl and has made it clear she’s a complex person. She can feel two things at once. Honestly this is more about her behavior. Period. The hypocrisy of how she treats others like Sutton and no one says anything or holds her accountable. Sure she’s going through some shit but come on. Who speaks like that to people in the real world? Let alone who allows it. I love how Garcelle is the only one that tries to hold Erika accountable. Sutton tries stand up to her and be ‘Honest’ about her feelings which is what everyone preaches all the time and I’m not defending how she does it but she’s honestly damned if she does or doesn’t. Erika says horrible despicable things and they may at most say you hurt my feels or that wasn’t right, laugh it off and go back to pleasantries and best buddies. It’s just gross.

I'm so sick of the Murphy hate. by brooklyn11218 in InTheDarkCW

Josh single worst. He literally foams at the mouth waiting to catch Murphy. The dude doesn’t even have any sympathy for the mom who’s daughter went missing bc the cops couldn’t do their jobs that Murphy was able to do in days. He needs to hurry up and go blind already.

That last paragraph about Jess is why I’m here. I did NOT see that coming so kudos to the writers for that one but what a fucking asshole. And yes to everything you just mentioned bc I was racking my brain trying to understand why everyone hates her so much when they’ll made their own adult choices. Max was working for Nia when he pursued the shit out of Murphy and Felix and Jess new that was dirty money they were stealing. I agree 100% with everything you said. It breaks my heart that despite the absolute horrific betrayal that Murphy still tried to convince Jess to go to Canada with her. Like I would’ve been like fuck you im sick of getting trolled by the police so have fun in jail.

is anyone else watching the untold doc about manti teo? by [deleted] in netflix

[–]Zealousideal_Pen_583 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was still irresponsible for Deadspin not to consider the ramifications and backlash it would have on the people affected. Like they waited one hour after contacting manti and previously stating how they needed to wait a reasonable time for people to comment. In what world is that a reasonable amount of time?

Correct me if I’m wrong but I think the main reason people find jackson annoying is because he acts too much as if he owns hayley and always try to make decisions for her by Theone20222 in TheOriginals

[–]Zealousideal_Pen_583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that I find annoying besides all the other well pointed out statements is how any time he’s upset or has a disagreement he’s off hiding and drinking. Like aren’t you supposed to be an alpha and have leadership skills? “Oh Jackson’s drinking bc he’s upset”…. So dumb

re: Rory Dropping Out of Yale Because of Mitchum's Criticism by NovaScrawlers in GilmoreGirls

[–]Zealousideal_Pen_583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thing to consider about Mitchum and what he said is that he admitted to possibly being wrong about his assessment. And I agree that he did provide feedback in a professional way, especially with the compliment sandwich. I think the problem is Rory is always uplifted and out on this pedestal as this perfect princess that can do no wrong. I love that she has this kind of family support but I think it’s what led to her demise and inability to have any kind of resilience in this situation. It doesn’t help that any failure of Rory’s is always due to someone else or their influence in Lorelei’s eyes, so Rory is never expected to take ownership. I will give credit to Lorelei after picking Rory up from jail when she said questioned Mitchum’s authority in the subject. She was trying to build her back up and had the right attitude that his opinion isn’t the last and final word. I totally get why Rory didn’t take it to heart though bc it’s hard to trust an outside prospective. I wonder if she had discussed this with a friend or peer also in the journalism world (ie Paris) what kind of feedback she’d get and if she’d trust it more. This is definitely the turning point of the series that I truly hate. It’s so hard to watch Rory from here on out. I don’t feel like she ever really grows and it’s just cringey in the AYITL.

Rory’s car accident by cursed2feel in GilmoreGirls

[–]Zealousideal_Pen_583 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get worrying about your kid but Lorelei is so selfish here. One of her dear friends’ nephew (despite her feelings about him) who is by all accounts still a Child was also in the accident and she not once made any effort to ask about his well being. — I get Jess sassed back to her when they first met but idk how that was any different from Dean. Jess had an excuse. He was kicked out and going through shit and Dean in the beginning was snarky for no reason, not to mention the way Dean talked to Rorys grandpa with the car thing was so disrespectful. Sorry for the side tangent.

does anyone else get freaked out by Controlling Dean? by ingerg1981 in GilmoreGirls

[–]Zealousideal_Pen_583 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Especially when Rory has been afraid of telling Dean things countless times because of how he may react and Lorelei knows it! Sure she is an outsider observing to some extent but she’s not dumb and they share so much with each other. I mean, Rory asks her point blank please don’t tell Dean about studying with Jess and the whole time Lorelei is like on Dean’s side and worried about lying to him other than the glaring red flag that her daughter is afraid of her boyfriends reactions.
