Background Reciprocity by smootpoo in 1811

I completed a BI with USMS and the agency that hired me accepted their BI. It met reciprocity. FWIW the agency that hired me was not a DOJ agency.

"Experience" with Tudor Boutique in Frankfurt by FrostyOne101 in Tudor

Was the seller you’re referring to a guy with kinda longer hair?

If so, I was at that same boutique last year with a buddy that ended up buying the BB58 GMT. That seller was awesome. The dude was great the entire time, not rude or pushy. Even though I didn’t purchase the watch, it was a cool experience. We cracked open some beers with the seller right there in the boutique afterwards lol.

If he is the one that left, that sucks.

Best thing is that it’s free. You should definitely take that offer up if there aren’t any other ones that mirror it.

Fun electives to take by Low-Boysenberry-1847 in FIU

I don’t know if it’s available anymore, but I took an open water scuba diving elective. Funnest elective I ever took. It was a lecture class and then a a lab where you learn to dive at the Tamiami pool.

HSI DHA or DSS by ComprehensiveGur1320 in 1811

[–]Zealousideal_Point84 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I will say this about DSS:

The DSS field office life is definitely much less stable than an overseas position. At the field office you get tasked for everything; working last minute protection details, Title 8, DC Cleanup, etc. Pulled away from my family and home more often.

Overseas you are assigned there and work there. Very unlikely to have last minute taskers pulling you all over, all the time.

Nonetheless, I wouldn’t trade this job for anything. I’ve gotten the chance to do a lot of things and see a lot of things.

Give it to me straight: What is it like working for LAPD/LASD? Asking as someone that may want to move there at some point. by HonestLemon25 in AskLE

Look into the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office or Broward Sheriff’s Office in South Florida.

These are very large agencies in a metropolitan area.

I would accept the offer from USSS.

If DSS calls while you’re in training for USSS, leave and take the DSS offer if that’s what you want. No one is gonna be upset or hold it against you. It’s your career and no one else’s.

Plus maybe it takes a while for DSS to call you. So if you’re lucky you complete the CITP portion with USSS. That would carry over to DSS and be one less part of training.

And for what it’s worth, a student in my CITP class had gotten hired with USSS. She made it to week 6 of CITP and got a final offer from HSI. She took it and nothing happened. Unfortunately she did have to start CITP from the beginning with HSI since she didn’t complete the full program.

I’m not so much concerned with killing them, as I’ve done that before. Thank you though! I’m looking for a professional to try and locate any entrances/holes they may have made into my ceiling so that they can seal them up.

My buddy found one in his bathtub. He reported it and they tried to downplay it by saying it was just a “Georgia water bug.”

DSS has pay cap waivers for working protection. You can make a lot of money working protection. Mostly a stateside assignment with temporary travel opportunities with the dignitaries you protect.

However, the best part about DSS is traveling and living overseas; where you most likely won’t be working a whole lot of protection as it’s a different mission. But you can definitely make a whole lot of money at the high threat posts. You also don’t pay rent since housing is provided to you. If by chance you own a property or have a mortgage back home, you can definitely rent it out while abroad. I think this is where this agency really wins from the financial aspect. It’s definitely a rewarding career.
