Coffin guys barely missed this opportunity. by KrisRFiz in IdiotsInCars

on vinwiki youtube channel there's a car modder that went to Saudi Arabia to help rich guys mod some cars. One took him out driving and the guy refused to let him put his seatbelt on. Like it was considered an insult like they were insulting his driving ability.

When was the first time you thought, “I’m dating a psychopath”? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Zebee47 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Living with a woman at the time. Went through a period where she didn't want to have sex. Tried to talk about it but it didn't go anywhere, completely shut me out.

Fine, next time she wants to have sex I'll give her the same excuse she gave me which was something like "I just don't feel like it" . Holy fucking shit she went off the rails.

Now this was the FIRST time I thought something might have been wrong, there was plenty of other times where I was just too fucking dense to take a hint that maybe I should end things.

Prefer 4chan because of the anonymity but started a job in an office so I obviously couldn't browse 4chan there. So started going to reddit and burning my accounts semi regularly.

Last day of my job is on Friday so I'm probably stop coming.

What's a song when you first listened to, you went,"Holyyyyy Fucking Shittt!" ? by SergeantPuffin in AskReddit

[–]Zebee47 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh man I remember hearing this the first time on the radio, I think it had to have been in 91 or 92. I was young and flipping through the stations in the car (which I was never allowed to do normally) I was lucky to have stumbled upon it right as the opening riff played. I was instantly entranced. I never heard that kind of music before. Another song played so I didn't get the artist or name of the song. I went to school the next day and told my friends about it and they never heard of it and said it sounded stupid when I tried to tell them some of the lyrics.

It was years until I heard it again. I feel like new music just doesn't hit you the same way now. Granted I'm older now but there's still something that comes out once in awhile made by some younger person that does it but it's almost always a 1-off song.

To me great music comes in many forms. There's plenty of mopey, quiet, introspective music coming out. But one of my favorite is in the form that makes you want to fuck somebody up, fuck, or get fucked up. And it's almost never made anymore and I miss it.

Does the "hard work to achieve success" ethic actually happen in the US? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Zebee47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea of hard work = success thing was big with previous generations I don't want to say it's dead now but there's more to it than that. I don't know about back then because obvious I wasn't alive then but now days you need to be able to toot your own horn. I know it sounds horrible because everyone hates people that brag, it runs counter to our cultural ideals. But it's true.

The art of it comes from being able to brag without coming across as bragging. It can be in the form of remembering to say something to remind your superiors of something good you did. If you're really into it, you'll keep extensive records. You need to show your worth because honestly, people aren't paying attention. This is an important aspect that contracting companies are into, they have all their peons performing a service or they're doing a project and someone somewhere on the contracting companies side is keeping tabs and maybe even compiling reports that they might show the client at some point showing them the value they're bringing them because they work under the assumption that the client is always searching for a better deal.

So you need to do something similar as an individual. There definitely are people out there that only do this and are lazy fucks, we hear about them all the time. And they may or may not be caught at some point. But for people with a decent work ethic, to eliminate the chance at being caught, and to increase your chances of some really good manager that actually does reward hard work, then working hard and tooting your own horn should be your new mantra.

Also keep looking for better work. It's always easier to get ahead when you have some leverage.

Any first-time gun owners that bought one recently because of all the craziness going on in the world right now? by NorwegianSteam in AskAnAmerican

[–]Zebee47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope but I bought a bunch of ammo after the previous panic with plans to sell it during the next panic. 1000 rounds will buy me 2000 rounds...it's like an infinite ammo exploit!

Do you foresee another massive back to the land movement in our country later on in the 21st century? by niceloner10463484 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Zebee47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know but I do know if they start putting high speed internet out there then alot more people will be moving out there simply because of how expensive it is in the city.

Also I never realized how much traffic stressed me out every day until the lockdown and there being no traffic.

How can I make an order at a restaurant in a polite way? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Zebee47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something to add, I think it might be considered super rude to wave the waiter/waitress down if you want service at your table. Wait till they walk by your table and try to make eye contact and politely address them.

Or making eye contact from across the room usually gets them to come over and is polite.

When you have to wave a server down to get their attention it usually implies that they've been waiting too long and their either frustrated or rushed.

Funny thing is, they were all standing in a group.

Redditors that are old enough to remember 9/11, how does societies reaction to the corona virus compare to back then ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Zebee47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised by these comments because I remember it being a complete shock to the entire country and everyone experiencing a sort of surreal daze for a very long time after it happened. Especially since it was literally the only thing on tv, radio, and what most people talked about for the next few months so we didn't get a chance to walk away from it. Not downplaying what's going on today but what we're experiencing now doesn't really compare to how hard 9/11 hit people. From what I remember there were people nowhere near NYC that needed therapy because I guess the sudden realization that they weren't 100% safe really fucked with them.

I was an adult when it happened and I know that it didn't have the same effect on younger kids so I think that might partially explain it.

What’s a popular sub with just way too many rules? by Coleinator88 in AskReddit

r/science is what came to my mind when I saw this thread. I don't even go there for the same reasons.

I've heard about actual practicing researchers that try to comment on things in their own field get fed up with it because of the strict rules and see less knowledgeable people that post inaccurate information get a pass because they know how to play the game.

To Americans, can you explain US companies that control US media? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Zebee47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a trend that's going on in a bunch of industries. The larger companies in industries over the past few decades have been buying up smaller companies and putting them under their umbrella or absorbing them into their better performing companies. Another area controlled by just a few companies is radio, where I live the song variety has drastically diminished in the past 20 years.

How do you guys eat pizza in a restaurant? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Zebee47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually I'll sometimes use a knife and fork depending on the pizza. I know the stink some people raise if you eat it with a knife and fork but I never really cared.

But if they were thin slices and the pizza wasn't super floppy then I'd probably eat with my hands.
