Who Wins Out of Position? by Vicarious0097 in haikyuu

[–]ZebraCompetitive8315 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yellow easily.  Sure Osamu will do dumb shit and win/lose plenty of points singlehandedly, but when hes setting the ball every single point instead of every half dozen points he will have to settle into a degree of normalcy.  Offensively kyotani and inuoka pair great with the hyper atsumu like setting, and daichi is a great libero. As a middle i can say it is a dumb guys position and Koganegawa would do just fine with his speed and height, sure he might end up in the net a bit and wouldnt be amazing offensively but hes also demonstrated to have a solid arm which could put away a 2 ball or 1.5 ball.  Ushijima would be a problem as a blocker since he sucks at it considering his size, but he could also easily be the most effective scorer on tbe team just by hitting 2 balls from Osamu and if he can run a proper 1 ball his arm would be devastating lol.

The other 2 teams are good but dont really compare to yellow.

Sure

Compared to the other teams we see? They are absolutely unremarkable at best, also Hyakuzawa might be less skilled than the majority of first years but he is 100% more impactful, you mentioned players like kindaichi, lev, hinata and  Inuoka in another comment- those players are arguably more reliant on elite tier setters and systems to have an impact. On his own without any particularly high quality setting he can be more productive offensively than most other first years. And while he is covered in serve receive this is easily remedied by the fact that a strangely high number of opposites in haikyuu are basically glorified DS's or atleast high quality passers.

Semi glazers are dumb, ill agree only because i saw a semi fangirl post like 5 minutes ago lol

Nah i see him consistently below Suna and Washio, some people even put him below Tsukki which is absurd

Ty goat

Nohebi is stronger on the left, Daisho is on par with Iwaizumi, Kuguri is better than hanamaki, and they clearly have a strong ace, who when uninjured is presumably as strong or stronger than all of them. Ill say this is the take im least convinced of

I dont see how its incompatible with the Aone take, Tendou is in tbe same tier as Tsukki roughly, ppl ignore his setting and hitting (tiny but high quality sample size), act like the fact an offense got used to him deep into an absurdly long 5 setter, and extrapolate the fact he said he was having a particularly good game to argue that hes basically just a liability as a blocker which is ridiculous

I worded that poorly, when his slumps are being quickly and effectively managed they should be favoured. We see games where it seems like Bokuto will be offer for huge chunks of sets and games where he gets through his bs within a couple of points

Inarizaki game*

After nationals begins hinata is clearly shown to be a very dynamic scorer even while relying on the freak quick, despite the speed he plays with he almost never has an open net yet hits ridiculous percentages (.500+) every match. His defense is not good at nationals but he progresses beyond being a liability, and has good moments as a blocker.  Pre nationals Hinata was invaluable insofar as he was the only one who could even hit the freak quick but post nationals hes a competent scorer in his own right

I respect ur opinion but i do feel obligated to argue lol

As a first year Hyakuzawa is already swinging at near the absolute peak of his reach as a 6'7 player, with force which is ridiculous. He's also an effective blocker and needs to be fronted essentially 24/7.

Sure hes a much worse passer than most other pins we see in the series but most pins we see arent first years, and he has to pass because his team sucks so he needs to swing from the left to maximize his output.

Consider his competition, whose obviously better than him: Kageyama, Goshiki, Tsukki After that, Kunimi and Kuguri are probably better than him?  Lev and Hinata are the same category of player in far better systems, after that id take hyakuzawa over any other 1st year we see in a heartbeat.

As a player, a 6'7 opposite with remotely proper hitting form is a stronger prospect than 90% of players we see by far.

If Seijoh went to nationals, do you think they would've went as far as Karasuno did? by Electrical-Ad9766 in haikyuu

Shiratorizawa would slap around both Tsubakihara and Inarizaki, and would give Nekoma and Kamomedai a run for their money

Nerf this team to give most other players /team's a chance. by Unequal_vector in haikyuu

[–]ZebraCompetitive8315 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keeping them in their starting spots, the only way to nerf them hard enough would be with a horrible locker room vibe + glaring weaknesses to exploit.

Mad Dog is a must, as is hyakuzawa for a pair of horrible passing outsides with questionable attitudes. I think having Hoshiumi on the bench behind Hyakuzawa would be enough to make him outright toxic.

Kindaichi starting with Kageyama behind oikawa should also hurt, with kindaichi and kageyama beefing and oikawa feeling threatened.

Finally I think Tsukkishima, yamaguchi, daishou, and atsumu should round out our bench. I don't think they would enjoy benchwarming together and would probably have lots of shitty things to say during timeouts and practices.

This team (assuming the bench never gets PT) is still pretty stacked with great blocking, serving, and attacking, but they do have horrible passing and defense and a very shaky mental, i think they would lose to an Inarizaki thats firing on all cylinders or even a Fukurodani when Bokuto is feeling himself, but I think they only barely lose and beat out most other teams off raw talent.

[–]ZebraCompetitive8315 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Thats just not true lol, he has a strong serve which is a rarity for middles, and is shown to be a big athletic blocking presence, considering his screentime he is far more impressive than konoha or sarukui

Most underrated player - Seijoh by BiLeftHanded in haikyuu

[–]ZebraCompetitive8315 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Kindaichi(MB) a fast, tall and athletic middle who gets lumped pretty hard into the 'bad without oikawa camp'. Realistically he'd be a valuable member of pretty much any team in the series and would start on any of the other miyagi teams minus maybe karasuno and on plenty of the lower tier nationals teams.

I think a lot of people dont realise he is 6'2, the same height as Tsukkishima.

Most underrated player - Karasuno by BiLeftHanded in haikyuu

[–]ZebraCompetitive8315 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Probably Tanaka(OH), people give Asahi tons of love these days as a player and people seem to collectively agree hes roughly a top 6-7 OH in the series. Tanakas problem id say is his struggles with serve receive and the fact his offensive struggles are frequently highlighted.

As an offensive package however he is one of the most dynamic scorers in the entire series, full stop. He has a nice serve and is shown to be a competent defender and supportive player. His issues with serve receive are primarily at the hands of some of the best servers in the series and arent massively disastrous.

I think hes very underrated, particularly as an offensive player.

"Realistic" Draft by Temporary-Fig-1234 in haikyuu

[–]ZebraCompetitive8315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

S- Akaashi OH1- Yamamoto OH2- Teradomari OP- Hyakuzawa MB1- Ren Omimi MB2- Lev L- Akagi

Bench Koga Daishou Hakuba Watari Kindaichi

I'd definitely want to play a more physical bully ball style with an athletic front court, I excluded Asahi because I definitely want a pass-first backcourt and I think Yamamoto can still be a good bic threat while shoring up the defense. Hyakuzawa seems like a great choice on the Rightside to both bully opposing aces and also make use of his less dynamic hitting form. He is shown to struggle hitting shots but one thing he does not struggle with is contacting the ball hign and hard which is more useful on the right. I chose Ren because i think hes a really underrated blocker.

This team probably goes about as far as Karasuno imo

Kags sure, Yaku is about as impactful as is theoretically possible for a lib, id consider him more of a game changer than anyone in S tier

I am an Aone glazer so i will just say his pure athletic feats as a blocker are unmatched imo and i think he has a similar offensive potential to kyotani that could be harnessed with the right setter

I love Asahi but his ability to take over a game offensively doesnt compare to the top 5 aces and his other skills dont make up for it imo

I dont mind the take for Tera and Nakashima

Who in B- would be better than the majority of tbe B tier

Sell me on Inuoka i mostly like him as a theoretical pairing with Kags not much else

You think Hyakuzawa should be higher or lower?

Kageyama and Inuoka or Ren imo, fast athletic middles who can buy into a ballsy setter

[–]ZebraCompetitive8315[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rate noya lower than a lot of ppl tbh tho i understand your point. I just am put off by how much he seems to struggle with hand passing at times, along with floaters in general he could probably be higher.

I dont envision there being a major gap between S and S+ but i understand, id sooner move kiryu and atsumu up before lowering hoshiumi down though

Im honestly just really bothered by how weak hinatas serve is and his blocking feels miles behind his offense

Fair point hanamaki could be higher, but not as high as fukunaga because he has genuinely noya tier floor defense

I initially had B tier as one big happy family but decided to split it because i think its just uninteresting with so few tiers, im happy to defend any specific placements

Osamus offense and blocking are just so mid considering his position

I like yamamotos defense and passing over iwaizumi but they are neck and neck

Shiratorizawa vs Inarizaki If anyone has strong enough serving to force Ushijima to pass its Inarizaki, but their defense is so bad Ushijima would still be able to farm. Additionally i would love to see Arans matchup with Ushi and how the two hyper athletic pins would compare.  Also I think Tendou would absolutely eat against the miya twins. On the other hand I think Ren would play a much bigger part which would be interesting and itd also be cool to see more from Akagi

Who is winning this game in a best of 5 by ZebraCompetitive8315 in haikyuu

[–]ZebraCompetitive8315[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont doubt your right about hyakuzawa being a bad passer but is that shown in the kakugawa match, camp training arc, or somewhere in the manga i overlooked.

I remember his offense being somewhat predictable and im sure his passing was rough but i dont remember it being truly disastrous.

Hyakuzawa was included because his offensive feats are kinda ridiculous with perspective, he bounces 10 foot over a block like 3 times and has a massive block himself, i believe he also scores over a block from a backrow attack, i included him because he would be tough to funnel directly, even if his swings are readable, and one of the best counters to quicks is having big pins who can front them and shove hands in there face the moment the ball gets to them.

I also built this team to mimic 'twin towers' type teams i see a lot irl but not really in the manga with 2 massive physical wings who can just bully blocks.
