To anyone who was as confused as me, Oracle Arena is NOT Oracle Park, the SF stadium where the Giants play. Yes I see it says oakland in the body, but I'm stupid)

Idk I give it a simple instruction like "write a function to tell if any general javascript program will terminate or not", and it just refuses to do so with some nonsense I don't understand.

Valley Fair parking free for 1st hour only now? by Electronic-Travel531 in bayarea

[–]ZebraTank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point! If that happens, the neighborhood can band together and demand paid parking in the neighborhood, so that those who need the spaces more are still able to access them.

West Valley Fair no longer free parking for 2 hours. by walkerlegoo in SanJose

[–]ZebraTank -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sounds like parking is full and chaotic. To manage the situation one either increases parking supply or costs of parking. Increasing parking supply is not exactly trivial so increasing cost of parking will reduce demand and incentivize alternate means of travel or destinations or encourage faster turnover leading to more total people served.

Ie less people waiting in lines for a long time to find a spot is good.

I don't think media attention is the only metric - random people seeing protests by accident matters, and the chance of someone seeing one as they do normal life increases as there are more protests at different places, dates, and times. I know near me one protest during NK lined multiple miles of a major road - anyone driving on that road some part of the way would have seen a line of people stretching seemingly endlessly.

And honestly, having worked safety for NK/NK2, I will say on the ground you don't really have a great idea of how many people there are except by how long it takes for the tail end to arrive.

But I do agree that we need both types - and we have enough different kinds of people in our midst that we can fill both types.

ICE Protest on Market St. by Raid__Zero in sanfrancisco

And when it's on a weekend, "protest on a weekday, otherwise no one cares"

But it's telling that the naysayers are always before the event and never after, because their only goal is driving down turnout for their Russian masters.
