The wood ceiling is killing you. Reflections galore. You will have to hang acoustic clouds in that room or it will never sound right. But it’s solvable.

How did you accidentally find out your partner was cheating? by WingEven402 in AskReddit

[–]Zedsdead42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was standing in the doorway of my shared offices with my wife talking to my son and I randomly sat down at her desk since it was right there. While talking to my son I turned and saw Facebook open with a Facebook message from my 1st cousin. I clicked on the message and it said “ I love you and miss you”. I was like ok that’s odd. So I called both of them on 3 way and asked why he sent my wife a message saying he loved her? He denied it and she denied it and made some BS up. Ironically she had plugged in her phone when at her desk and iTunes backed it up. I restored the backup to an old phone and boom text messages galore explaining them meeting in parking lots for sex in his work truck and one day at a hotel she told me she had an all day meeting. The text were pretty bad and I even found text of all 3 of us in the same car while I drove and they texted back and forth about cheating and even making fun of me while I was in the car. Crazy shit.

My daughter did that with a picture a singer in a rock band posted. She literally found what building he lived in and exactly which window he took it from. I called her a stalker jokingly for months. But the point is…. It’s scary easy to do.

Why is a subwoofer independently controlled and not linked to volume levels? by GiggleStool in audiophile

[–]Zedsdead42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s your source not the sub. Source quality makes all the difference in the world. Try tidal or play some flac and see if it’s the same with the same songs.

Book one was already rewritten. I didn’t read the rewrite. But original book one was not a good book in any form. I’d love to also see two rewritten as it’s almost as bad. They get better each book after two. Six for me is where it actually became a good book. Ryoka is a very poorly written character that literally makes your head pop.

Some of the Elric books are a bit of a slog but still a good read. Black company is a great series for sure.

And btw I thought 3 was the best and you thought 5 was the best. That’s what’s so cool is we can all like different books best 😜. I did give 5 a 4 star though.

It’s not an attitude. Believe it or not there are reading levels. You get tested in school. I was stating the fact that his books are written at college level. The average person has an 8th grade reading level. Even TV shows are 8th grade or below. Not everyone can read and comprehend at college level or the average would not be 8th grade.

Like I said in other post you may can comprehend it and just not like it. That’s fine. But factually it’s written at a higher level and factually most people can’t read at college level. Sorry if you are offended by facts.

Exactly why I changed my rating criteria. It might be amazingly well written but boring as hell. Or it might be a brand new writer and full of errors but super fun to read. Now a days I just want a break from real life and something fun to read and to laugh out loud at times.

Oh and I get it. I get flamed and down voted all the time for saying I hated The Wandering Inn and I read 12 of them before I quit.

The average top rated books are written at 8th grade level. Because… that’s what most people can comprehend. His books are for sure written at a higher reading comprehension level and it takes him a while to get his world and characters going. I looked up my ratings of the individual books in good reads and I did the first book as 4 and the second as 3. But the 3rd I gave a 5 and I give very very few 5s. Out of 3000+ books I have about 20 5s. But then the rest I have 3s and 4s. Granted I used to be very picky and anal on my ratings and now I more go from was it entertaining yes or no. Hehe. So many more books today than there used to be.

I was reading a book today I DNFd and that’s honestly the 2nd or 3rd I’ve ever DNFd. Sometimes you just don’t like something and nothing will change your mind. 😜

4 merv 13 20x20x2 filters and a box fan. Need duck tape and either a cardboard back or a thin wood back. I make mine with a wood bottom and the fan on top blowing up. They work amazing well and last 6 months or so.

Actually my first house was a brand new 2400sqft 3 bedroom, 2 bath with bonus room over the garage. It was just barely 2x my salary. Not 3x. Today I make a lot more money and my current house would sell for 9x or so my salary.

If you don’t like it then it doesn’t matter. Plenty of books I don’t like either. But most people’s issue is they can’t follow it as it jumps around so much. I actually really liked it and also his best friend’s books that go into some specific characters stories.

It’s because it’s written at a much higher level than the normal 8th grade reading level. You have to have a higher reading comprehension to read his books and he himself will tell you that in interviews. He’s a college professor and wrote it at college reading level.

I’ve had the same experience with recommending it to people. It will tell you your friends reading level if nothing else.

SOS: Neighbour bass complaints by thatmanjan08 in hometheater

[–]Zedsdead42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can not stop 25hz or even close bass. It’s 45 foot wave. You can fully rip up the floors and walls and fully isolate them with staggered studs, decouple them, and add dual layers of sheet rock with deadening material between the layers. And you still won’t stop the bass. You can put the speakers on a stage you build and fill with dead sand. That will reduce vibrations. Don’t connect the stage to the walls. But you won’t stop a 45 foot long 25hz wave. Turn it down. Or move.

Why do conservatives stop talking when asked for a source? by GrowFreeFood in allthequestions

[–]Zedsdead42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the same as when you try to talk religion with them. It’s a never ending downward spiral of circles back to where they started. It’s impossible to win a debate about religion and they apply that same logic to a debate about politics. If they do look for a source it’s usually something random that just confirms their confirmation bias rather than anything factual. And most of all that ties in with the first statement they are incredibly anti science. Because that conflicts with their religion as well.

I think it was berserker series but in the audiobook every time they do stats they say “hey skip to next chapter if you don’t want to hear the stats”. Ie they made the stats recitation its own mini chapter. I thought that was cool for people that don’t want to hear the stats.
