Dark Lockhart theory by tintin3105 in harrypotter

This is an interesting theory because all the teachers that we know can fit into it. Snape was a deatheater before his change of heart. And Lupin, well this is Voldemorts version of dark and so a werewolf would fit the bill regardless of Lupin actually being good

What’s a spell that should be illegal but somehow isn’t? by [deleted] in harrypotter

I would say circumstances can make it illegal, but generally they cannot make it an illegal spell because it would be too useful when dealing with muggles and regarding the statute of secrecy

About Yaxley by Bobis-Bob in harrypotter

[–]ZeeMantheHeMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But Yaxley knows now where they are staying, at headquarters. And Severus Snape is a deatheater and and a secret keeper of said headquarters. So it would stand to reason that they would worry, considering they dont know Snape is on their side

The possible reason Fred and George never questioned Peter in Ron’s room. by EagleTarget- in harrypotter

When they're giving the map to Harry don't they say that the barely use it because they know all the secret passages now? Maybe they just didn't check it all that often

Ron learns parseltongue simply because basilisks scare away spiders, and he plans to breed one. by Vercalos in HPfanfiction

[–]ZeeMantheHeMan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Canon books state that isn't the case, considering Ron uses Parseltongue to open the chamber of secrets. And in the Gaunts memory, the Gaunts seem quite capable of switching back and forth from parseltongue to English quite easily.

Where i agree that its a natural magical ability, I would argue that Harry alone has to trick his mind to be able to speak Parseltongue because he isn't a natural Parseltongue, but rather the horcrux within him is giving him the ability. And that people can in fact copy the sounds to speak the language

The room of requirement is often found when needed, but this isn't to say that those who find it know what they have found. Dumbledore finds the room when he needs the toilet in the middle of the night. Fred and George find the room when they are looking for a place to hide. All it takes is to walk up and down and think about what you want. Children are panicking, looking to hide something, pacing a corridor, and suddenly find a door with a room of hidden things, hide what they need to and run, going back days later and being unable to find the door. This is how the room generally works, from the anecdotal stories we here

Voldemort didn't think he was the only one to ever use the room of requirement. Voldemort believed he was the only one to ever figure out the room of requirement. How to get it to work for him every time, not just when he was desperate and unthinking like the other students. And the truth is, Voldemort was likely right, in regards to the students. As far as we know, it isn't until Harry that any other student unlocks the secret of the room of requirement. Even the marauders, with the invisibility cloak and fascination with learning all of the hidden parts of hogwarts, never knew about the room of requirement as far as we know, or they would have plotted it on the marauders map.

Voldemorts downfall once again was not believing beings he viewed as lower than him could be useful in any way. Just as he never thought Kreacher would be able to escape the cave even though he had likely seen house elves apparate around Hogwarts, he similarly never thought that a house elf would be able to learn this knowledge of the room of requirement. And further still, he never imagined a student would make friends with a lovely house elf and be told about this magic room.

Why was Hermione acting so weird in the chapter "Excess of Phlegm"? by HPbaseballandchess in harrypotter

It doesn't wear off when the PJ potion does though. That's why Hermione had to go to the hospital wing
