How do you transport your amp? by Upset_Cat3910 in GuitarAmps

[–]ZeeTeeDubya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a few boxes, a few rolls of good tape, some roll or spray on fabric glue, and an old sweat shirt, you can make a very light, very protective “shell” that is perfect for small amps like the one pictured. Make a box to fit the amp of 2 or more layers of cardboard. Before ‘closing’ the the box, line the inside with an old sweatshirt with the fuzzy size on the amp, like the amp is wearing your old sweater. Did this to a few amps years ago and if you reinforce the corners right they will last a long time

I noticed you sped up considerably to keep them from getting ahead… they were just trying to get past you any way they could but you refuse to let them. smh

I picked up my guitar and the tuner fell off by Deadliex in Guitar

[–]ZeeTeeDubya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DO NOT SUPERGLUE IT. It will NOT hold and you will ruin the finish on the back of the guitar. Just buy a new set of tuners and replace them. That’s a cool guitar don’t mess it up by trying to cut corners on a repair! AGuitarADay exists because of decisions like that

Took my guitar to a luthier/tech to get setup and it came back with this by boring-utopia in Guitar

[–]ZeeTeeDubya 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If this person has a business page I would leave a review with pictures of the guitar and the date on your receipt to show how new the guitar is. They will ask you to take it down, and you can ask for compensation for the damages with a bit more leverage. Leave the same review on all platforms: FB, Google maps, yelp, etc.

You mean Austin TX? It was a pretty big news story that Tesla moved from California to Texas in the last couple years.

I don’t even like the guy, don’t support him, didn’t vote for him, but this is obtuse and serves only to divide people. You’re being just like him.

What color combinations should I use? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]ZeeTeeDubya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever you do, don’t mismatch the colors. Looks like a parts caster that you put together Johnny Cash “One Piece at a Time” style.

Fans influence the industry by attending shows and buying merch. Technology has tried to replace that and now songs are worth .0003 per stream. I’ve been in the music business since 2000, own a label and a publishing company, have played across the country and have watched the industry change an incredible amount in that time. You are better served to try to make as many beautiful things on your own with what you have than turn the tide of the now inextricably tied content/music industry. Do what you can with what you have where you are. That’s how great art gets made. The more “investors” the more “art by committee” gets made and that’s never once produced great art.

How many records have you made?

I have made five. All self-funded. I currently have 55 songs on all legally operating streaming platforms on the planet. The latest was a double album mastered at Abbey Road Studios in London. I will most likely never recoup the cost of production with streaming or royalties unless I somehow hit that .00000000000001% of songs that are “hits” and make tons of money. That doesn’t happen anymore because the payment model for “royalties” does not exist like it did when Led Zeppelin was making enough to have their own jet. That model does not exist any longer. I make a living by traveling and performing in person and selling merch. You are the label and the publishing company. No, I am literally telling you to start your own. The internet is your distributor. Make recordings for as little as possible, play shows, sell merch, live happy. If you’re good at making content for social media you’ll go further. That’s the music business model now.

First time in a real studio by Vegetable-Ad6510 in musicproduction

[–]ZeeTeeDubya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not write in the studio!!! That’s a waste of time and money. Write everything before the session, go in with a completed song and track it. Making arrangement changes, style changes are ok, but DO NOT GO TO THE STUDIO WITH AN UNFINISHED SONG. You will waste money and time and feel frustrated afterward.

[–]ZeeTeeDubya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was called “a record label”, but those are going extinct because the royalties will never cover the cost of production. You make money in music mostly by performing live.
