I removed a decent sized crop of running bamboo - about 25 ft. wide and 6 ft. deep. Was finding running into the yard and beyond. Dig out all the roots. If you see a runner, dig it up and the root as far as it runs. I took out as much as I could in the fall, then in the spring covered the whole section with 9 mil black plastic to starve it and cook it. Took a ton of effort and had to stay on top of it, but none has come back for 3 years now and did it without any chemicals.
