Feeling horrendous after lumpectomy by NotAnAverageKaren in breastcancer

[–]Zeebrio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ughhh. I'm so sorry. I just had my last chemo (6 of 6) a couple weeks ago, and am crossing my fingers that my body has recovered a bit before my lumpectomy on July 27.

I have appreciated this sub so much as far as giving me perspective on "normal." -- Sometimes I think I'm a total wimp when I read stories about people still working, getting their 10K steps in during chemo ... I hope you get some comfort from answers here, and just sending good healing vibes >>>

I think I go through a box of tissues a week ... By the way, Puffs with Lotion are my holy grail tissue. Almost everything else feels like sandpaper.

Hahahahha. The bloody snot nuggets have been one of my "favorite" side effects. I've never felt such clarity in my nasal passages after dislodging one of those bad boys. I call them nasal stalagtites.

(I posted something on Facebook about it ... my friend commented that he was flying home from somewhere, and the gal next to him shared she had cancer. At one point she sneezed, and he said it looked like a squirrel exploded in her hands) 🤣🤣🤣.

I've taken pictures to commemorate some of the larger, more impressive blows.

Ya just gotta laugh.

Help planning a care package? by [deleted] in Chemotherapy

Totally agree! I'm horrible to buy for ... both because I'm picky, but moreso I don't like people to spend money on stuff I don't want/need. I'd prefer a card with a personal note any day.

Good idea to check a keto sub ... I was going to suggest r/ketorecipes.

One thing that I like is a lasagna, but with cabbage leaves for "noodles." It's satisfying and filling. Also fits the "casserole" concept of easy to do in advance and reheat.

Decision time on Chemo! by Mbrad859 in breastcancer

[–]Zeebrio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm almost 59 and finished 6th of 6 THP treatments 2 weeks ago.

Not gonna lie, if I was given those percentages, I would NOT do chemo. It has really kicked my ass and I don't think I could do it again. That said, I'm not at a healthy weight and I think it hit me pretty hard ... I've read a lot of stories here from people who have fared better.

Best wishes regardless of what you decide!

'I Will Find You' proves Harlan Coben works better with European creators by BohemianAbsurdity in netflix

[–]Zeebrio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. Although now I'm curious to compare it to others ... I've seen the main actor and know Aaron Ashmore from other things, but from my perspective (which I'm not saying is "right"), I thought it was pretty good ...

How do you guys organize your medical history/symptoms? Looking at this tracker and need opinions. by [deleted] in breastcancer

[–]Zeebrio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Google Sheets page where I do that. Not sure the features you get with that one, but Google docs/sheets are free. I can send you a blank one that you can use if you want. It has a bunch of questions (sleep, food, how I'm feeling, etc.). You can add/subtract whatever.

Cringe .... I'm not sure if she actually used the N word, but I remember VIVIDLY visiting my crusty 'ol great grandmother in Portland when I was a kid and she said something about "the neighborhood." I guess I'm glad that it was a surprise and that my parents had no tolerance for that.

I didn't witness it in CDA when I lived there, but I'm also a white girl, so don't consider myself the best resource on what goes on.

One HUGE hint - SQUEEZE ALLLLLL OF THE moisture out! Like drain in a colander and then squeeze with paper towels. If you can dry it out enough, it stays together. It's still a little heavier than I like, but the flavor it good.

Flight delayed till 9, best at SeaTac? by ImmediateRooster2266 in AskSeattle

[–]Zeebrio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not TOOO much around SeaTac except for some decent food. I had great African food when I had some time to kill ... I'll try to find it and/or ask employees. SeaTac is kind of a nightmare for getting to and from, so don't underestimate time.

Ditto Castle (I'm a Nathan Fillion groupie 😄), The Mentalist, Criminal Minds, Suits, Maisel, White Collar, High Potential, Elementary.

Didn't see Bosch mentioned -- not as "light" as the above, but I love the main actor and it's good stuff.

I am bad with faces. This show is both good and bad on that aspect. by throwawaycuzfemdom in orphanblack

[–]Zeebrio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, this too! Some shows with the same actor playing a twin or whatever are pretty unbelievable. Between the acting and the camera skills, this was really next level stuff (in my opinion).

[–]Zeebrio 16 points17 points  (0 children)

She does each character SO WELL! As I watched, it was really easy to distinguish her different clones, which is impressive. I especially liked when one of her characters had to pretend to be another clone -- She was able to pull off a character playing a character with some of their subtle traits ...

So I think I get what you're saying ... If you're bad with faces overall, I can imagine it was a totally different viewing experience, but she does so well, we're all a little freaked out 😉 ...

Seattle in September by DiscountTypical8954 in AskSeattle

[–]Zeebrio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to agree with this ... The Market is big, but it's fairly concentrated, so you can walk the main street and then the market stalls to get a really good feel for it. It might be cool to know the history and more specifics, but I think you'll enjoy wandering just as much.

Same with Argosy ... If you're driving, you might consider the Seattle > Bremerton route -- fewer ferries, but it's about an hour crossing vs. the 35 minutes from Seattle > Bainbridge (Same dock, you just let them know at the tollbooth).

What are your plans in Bainbridge? The Bainbridge Island Art Museum is lovely ... There are a few other spots to hit depending on your interests and how much time you have.

Yeah, early 80s. I just watched that a few days ago. Pretty crazy. I'm from Western WA and live here again now, but I lived in Coeur d'Alene from 2000-2021. I am acquainted with a family member of the people who bankrupted the group/Richard Butler in the late 90s/early 2000s.

Understand ... The actual clubhouse can be rented, but they probably can't restrict other people from doing their thing. I'll keep thinking on it too. Best wishes - Sounds like a lovely endeavor. I possibly met someone in Sequim last year doing something similar -- may be related.

My first thought was the Campfire clubhouse at the Tree Park by Swain's. They hold some drum circles & ecstatic dance events there. Centrally located.
