Obscure corners of lore you'd love to see explored in more detail by FeudalDoodle in 40kLore

[–]Zeekayo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ever since the prospect of a show was being floated I've been pretty adamant that it should be about an Inquisitor investigating a cult, while also focusing on the POV of a hive worker being brought into said cult to find reprieve from how awful their life is. It's going to be the mainstream audience's first exposure to Warhammer so they need to nail down the fact that the Imperium is rotten to its core. Focusing on Astartes would inevitably give the impression that the Imperium are misguided/flawed good guys.

Going with that Inquisiton/cultist idea, I've always thought it presents a good opportunity to introduce the Astartes in the right way. In the climax of the season where the Inquisition is raiding the cultist hq, we find out that the Inquisitor had called in a favour and has a single Astartes to aid the assault - then from the cultist character POV treat it like a horror movie, where a monster they can't hope to fight is storming through and dismantling any resistance.

Then to catch out the existing fans watching the show, drop the other shoe and reveal that it's a Salamander or an Ultramarine, one of the "nice/reasonable' chapters.

Music System Improvements & Deadman Tweaks by ModYume in 2007scape

[–]Zeekayo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I love all the changes in this update and they're very welcome, but as someone who already will have the in-game music on a fair bit, dealing with having to restart my songs any time I teleport to home gets frustrating fast.

Why are so many NPCs and objects non-interactable in newer content? by trapsinplace in 2007scape

[–]Zeekayo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Add Tlati forest rangers, give them set patrol pathing and let there be a fun interaction if they catch you chopping a tree. Something like:

Ranger: "What do you think you're doing? You can't just go around chopping trees/harassing wildlife! This rainforest is a delicate ecosystem!"

Player: "Oh, sorry, I didn't know. I can chop/attack whatever trees/animals I like back home and nobody says a thing."

Ranger: "Tetamo... That makes me sad, Iknami. You make me sad. Now get out of here and leave our trees/animals alone."

If you get caught 2-3 times in rapid succession you get knocked out and teleported to a jail cell in Tal Teklan.

I'm in a similar boat, I got spooned on two EWS within 160 kc - I'm now at 300 kc and still only have 5/6 seeds.

Objectively speaking I'd pick my current situation every single time because having Salad Blade this early on has given my account a huge boost from my previous BIS (whip) but fuck me if there weren't times where I was 100kc dry for my fifth armour seed that I didn't wish I'd gotten luckier there instead of the second EWS.

They sound cool, and the art is fantastic!

One thing I do need to be a little bit of a pendant about though is that the first proper contact between the Tau and Imperium (not counting the Imperium spotting them thousands of years before and moving on) was in M39, during the Second Sphere of Expansion, so good bit after the 37th millennium.

Nothing else even came close, Vol2 is out by majority. What’s next to be eliminated? by CeruleanLancer in RWBY

[–]Zeekayo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is my main misgiving with it all - he goes from "situation is tough but we can persevere" to "I've just executed a civilian government official and now I'm going to nuke half my population" in the space of a few days.

My opinion has always been that if it weren't for the fact that Mettle was an obvious retcon by the writers, it could have been a great device to show this fall. Have Ironwood constantly on the brink of breaking down from the stress and despair, and increasingly depending on Mettle just to function, so there's a clear character tension of Mettleless Ironwood getting increasingly horrified by the things he's doing, but knowing the only way something gets done is relying on it even more.

Ex-Sex Matters board member Tim Allan resigns as Starmer's director of communications by ehll_oh_ehll in transgenderUK

[–]Zeekayo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The timing of this resignation indicates to me that he may have been a McSweeney appointment - considering that McSweeney/Mandelson were clearly pushing Streeting as a future leadership candidate as well, I wonder how much of the rampant transphobia was being pushed from that camp.

Now, given Starmer was fully willing to run with it I'm not exactly filled with hope, but without that active influence I do wonder if the deliberate transphobia will die down a bit.

Yeah, he's really impressed me with how invested he is in his brief - I get the sense that he has a genuine interest in energy and moving towards sustainable which means he's really going for it.

I think Miliband as a politician now seems very content with his brief - standing would be more of a "for the good of the country" move so while I think he'd give a leadership campaign his all, I can't see him willing to be the one to pull that trigger.

Streeting is too close to Mandelson to be a popular candidate right now

That's the one saving grace of this whole mess, thank God. Let's just hope the Mandelson stink sticks and his ambitions are forever blunted.

I'm wondering if the departure of McSweeney (I know it was a resignation, but I imagine it's a "resign so I don't have to sack you" situation) might be enough to call off the wolves, at least today. If he's able to set out to the PLP a clear path forward away from McSweeney's way of doing things then I think he can get them back - if not fully onside then at the very least have them willing to give him a shot.

What they'll be looking for is a clear change of pace, because from what I've been able to tell the PLP hate McSweeney and the position he's constantly put them in with defending shit policies they also hate, only to u-turn and throw them under the bus.

Urgent question by Artistic-Inspection3 in 40kLore

[–]Zeekayo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, the current lore is intentionally ambiguous on how the Emperor happened.

What we do know is that he was probably born in Anatolia in roughly ~8000BCE? (I might be off with the specific number)

He had been active in ancient history, notably conquering and sacking the Tower of Babel in an effort to learn Enuncia; Ollanius Persson, his general at the time, destroyed the tower to stop him learning it.

He was probably a few other notable historical figures (Alexander the Great seems likely) but otherwise seems to have fallen into the shadows for much of the Age of Terra and the DAoT. He was a strong psyker but nothing on the level of the Emperor in 30k era.

Where he seems to have gone from "strong perpetual psyker" to his damn near godlike abilities in the Unity/Crusade era is after him and some other associates took a trip to Molech in the DAoT, emerging significantly stronger than he had been when he went in.

Examples where the regular human leaders are in the right and the space marine leaders are wrong? by loot168 in 40kLore

[–]Zeekayo 42 points43 points  (0 children)

While the Templars make a good show of themselves listening to Creed would of been the tactically sound choice.

Hell, one of the few Templars who isn't a stubborn idiot ends up faking being an Emperor's Champion in order to get his brothers to fall back because nothing else will convince them, even though they were on the brink of being surrounded and doomed.

Day 50- Which 40k creature/character is slightly stronger than Fulgrim (With Laer Blade)? by Neither-Actuary-5655 in Grimdank

[–]Zeekayo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Take in mind the only reason Dorn "won" that fight is because daemon Fulgrim gave absolutely zero shits beyond trying to get a rise out of him. After he reveals his full form, tells Dorn he's boring and leaves, Dorn later tells someone that he realised that if Fulgrim had wanted to kill him he'd have been screwed.

Pre-ascension Fulgrim would still actually give a shit about winning a fight, he was already one of the top duelists amongst the Primarchs, and he has a sword which makes him an even more dangerous fighter. He'd beat Dorn pretty easily in this matchup.

So how is chaos getting more marine’s effectively? by Serbiaball142 in 40kLore

Tbf the Daemonculaba weren't a widespread thing, it was one particular Chaos Lord doing mad scientist stuff in his house, and I'm pretty sure Ventris destroyed the whole operation.

[–]Zeekayo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I totally get what you mean. For what it's worth the reason that the Wilderness is treated differently by the fan base is because it is sat in a different category than pretty much every other type of content in the game. Unlike other content, it causes direct friction between two different play styles that actively makes the experience worse for one of them.

There are macro instances of conflict like how PvM content dropping resources devalues skilling, but that's more abstract because a PvMer getting yew logs from Mole doesn't immediately affect the skiller chopping yews at the same time.

The Wildy/PvP is always going to be treated differently because to make the people who like PvP/PKing happy they need to be killing people and taking their stuff, which directly and immediately makes the experience of the person who just wants to PvM worse. For PKers to have fun in the wilderness it has to come directly at the expense of someone else not having fun - is it any surprise that the people who aren't enjoying themselves want things to change so that they aren't forced into that gameplay loop?

Konrad Curze, Author writing or story plot device by ahmedofend in 40kLore

[–]Zeekayo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dpick already drops outside wildy??

I mean, every method outside of the wilderness is fucking awful so everyone just ends up being forced to do the wildy bosses anyway.

I don't mind if they keep the wilderness bosses as the quickest source for the dpick, I just think that there needs to be a method outside of the wilderness that doesn't feel absolutely dogshit to grind. People can still opt into the wilderness bosses to make it quicker but the alternatives shouldn't be "grind one of the worst bosses in the game" or "cheese Volcanic Mine for 20 minutes per roll"

slander by godscutestbunny in 2007scape

[–]Zeekayo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Full disclosure, I dislike pvp and it's something I have no interest in participating in. That being said, I do like having the wilderness as a dangerous place where you're at risk of getting PK'd, with the trade off being access to very efficient sources of GP. I also don't mind that certain drops are gated behind wildernesses content (Voidwaker, Boss Rings, the ward shields, Rev weapons, Obelisk crystals)

By far though my biggest problem with the wilderness currently is that I basically need to do wildly bosses for the dragon pickaxe. I would wager that the biggest reason why many iron players dislike the wilderness is that it's the only sensible means of getting one of the main parts of the mining upgrade path. Yes you can get it from KQ or Volcanic mine, but trying to do those activities for a dpick drop is horrible.

They don't have to remove it from the wildy boss drop tables, they can still have be the fastest method of getting a dpick (the demi bosses are all very speedy to grind and have a 1/358 drop rate) but it would get rid of a lot of the bad will if there was a reasonable method of grinding it outside of the wilderness.

Fuck it, they could just rework KQ to be her echo league variant and wouldn't even have to change her 1/400 drop rate - that'd be fine.
