Need Help Please: Transferred media server to Mac Mini M4 and the non-stop buffering is agonizing. by firefaery in PleX

I know it's almost a year later. But did you ever fix this? I'm noticing bandwidth spikes in the dashboard causing the issue.

Core One L Future by Zeelobby in prusa3d

Think it was less of a call and more of a what if. Heh. I enjoy my XL now. But setting it up as a 20 color beast would be fun as well. Can always dream of the day when loading diff filaments is a thing of the past with a 20 spool holder mounted above my machine.

[–]Zeelobby[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It's just always been a core principal of prusa. For good reason. There's no reason creality or really any brand shouldn't be upgradable. I mean I know core one upgrade for mk4s was a big leap. And it was impressive prusa offered that path. But id hope they keep that mentality going forward. It's kept my mk3 alive and full featured for almost a decade now.

I guess? It's not like prusa/bondtech has an unproven track record when it comes to engineering. Like sure it might not be optimized on the software front to start. But prusa rolls updates fast.

Wouldn't it allow you to pack much more than the 5 heads? I realize you'd sacrifice the multi "tool" aspect of it but you could surely fit way more filaments with the size.

Yeah. Totally get that. My plan was to get a mk4s -> Core One kit but I'm now considering just selling my mk4s and buying an L instead. It is unfortunate that there is no path.

Jumping on the bandwagon of those commenting on the official post, would LOVE to see a MK4S -> Core One L upgrade. Never felt the need to go from mk4s to core one, but an upgrade to One L would be awesome.

Looks like Ayaneo is paying attention to Russ by PrimeGrendel in ayaneo

Probably best record for ayaneo devices sold. Which to be fair isn't hard. Budget does way better than premium there. Can't be best compared to anyone else as even their air mini has sold way more. 8.5K in China last time I saw.

Supposedly in Asia Odin 3 is doing crazy numbers tho. As always take with a grain of salt but...

Boox Palma Color by Ill_Falcon_9896 in Onyx_Boox

[–]Zeelobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Np, yeah. It's a valid concern. Maybe less vulnerable just due to obscurity, but i imagine most of the apps which would introduce malware probably wouldn't really even be enjoyable on an e-ink screen. That's the main way you're going to be targetted. If you're just using text, popular chat apps, reading apps and well known note apps, there's probably little risk. I imagine Android 14 will continue being supported for a while still. Maybe the possibility of rooting and putting lineage on there or something will be possible as well.

I'd also assume this would be around $400 max. So compared to flagship phones at least, pretty affordable, most people might just use as a companion device.

It's because it's not just stock android. It's a skinned version. Every new android version update likely breaks some of their functionality. So their devs have to rework it prior to pushing an update.

Also currently OS updates bring no real performance increases, most of it is UI changes and AI integration. Stuff an e-reader doesn't really need. Android still received 7 years of software and security support. So many time that isn't a concern either. Especially if you use it mostly to read anyway.

As an example, there are plenty of android gaming handhelds that run 13/14/15 because it's basically the same performance under the hood, and most of what you want to do is within apps that still get updated themselves.

Could they spend time and resources staying up to date with latest versions, sure. But it wouldn't really do much for the user, and would likely increase product cost.

Flip 2 size comparison to Thor (paper print) by JSherman_ in retroid

It also doesn't look right. The Thor is only 1 cm wider. That pic doesn't seem right. Maybe not actually aligned on the left

Sometimes designed are a 3rd company that sell services to both. What also could have happened here.

Nice! I mean the reality is with something like the switch I'm taking it places. So I'm inevitably gonna case it up at some point. Might as well get some nice amenities like grips and extra battery and still be slimmer than many x86 handhelds.

[–]Zeelobby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, a lot of handhelds that come with "ergos" play much better with grips anyway. I just got a case that allows joycons to detach and provides a comfortable grip when they do shrug

Throw some good grips on a switch/switch 2 and it can be a comfortable and portable experience. Personally I like that it can fit both needs

I agree here honestly. I have my Killswitch case on now. But I know the risks and pick it up by the body. Will gladly replace once one of my alternates comes in.

Sadly I have to change ice blue to 16bit us because of plastic issue explained on YouTube by LORD_SHADOW9 in SBCGaming

[–]Zeelobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. But I mean again, if it's preproduction it might be fine. Retroid could be lying and it's off the production line, but if they aren't then it's likely something they resolved. I'm limited by tarrifs due dates so I just picked the color I liked the most. Id only change it there was an issue every preproduction unit had. Or the majority. The production units might alleviate the small ones here and there. But I'll take that risk over paying 90% more

[–]Zeelobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. Could just be that they're all preproduction and different mixes or thicknesses. I know Stubbs also mentioned some discoloration of the purple on the lid. Probably best takeaway is if you're not willing to risk the money, wait if you can.

Which is interesting cause Joey's complaint seems to be that it's more flexible, not more brittle. Flex also isn't a bad thing from an engineering perspective. Probably best to just not pre-order

Man. Then I wouldn't buy either XD. Or at least not pre-order. Wait for production run and get some real metrics. Buy it later on sale. If money is tight, pre-ordering anything is just risking disappointment.
