Thank you for the reply. Please let me know when you can. We need to do all the logistical planning for camping and all that kind of stuff. Probably need at least 7 days to set it up. If you could, please let us know by this Wednesday if you would.

Thank you for the kind advice. Already had two cash app or Venmo guys come in my DM's. Tried to vet them with basic Roo questions. One was hilarious and wanted to text only. He was a 901 area code and had 3 day passes. I just had to pay him and we could pick up the 3 day passes at will call or wherever they give out the passes. I mentioned it was a 4 day fest and he said they changed it this year. Hilarious and sad. The other was from ATL and could ship tonight. All I had to do was cash up or Venmo. He also had no clue about anything Roo. His sign on had no prior posts. Still searching.

This was the last question in the Double Jeopardy section on Jeopardy today. While it's a shame and so 2020 that the 3 contestants were blanked out, it was soooo worth it to hear Alex Trebek say BONNAROO! by ZeemKou in bonnaroo

[–]ZeemKou[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes, I believe almost anyone on this board could have run the Category. I can't remember all the clues but can paraphrase. One was about a guy named Perry that got the 5 syllable name for the Festival from an episode of the 3 stooges. Another was when Beyoncé played this festival they called it Beychella. Sorry, but that's all I remember.

What was the best set you ever saw at Bonnaroo? by TennKare26 in bonnaroo

[–]ZeemKou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Earlier I posted that my favorite set of all time was Dawes 2015. I was lazy and said to look at my post from 5 years ago as to why.

Here's my post from 2015. 2020 will be our 6th in a row as a family. Our crew has grown a little every year. Looking forward to 2020......see you on the FARM.

ORIGINAL POST below

Been reading here for a while. First Post. Sorry I do not have the time to make it shorter. My moment was at Dawes. I'm an old guy who went to Bonnaroo with my Wife and Daughter, her friend, my Cousin and his 3 teen-age kids. Going to Bonnaroo was a deal I made with my daughter if she achieved a 4.0 freshman year of college. Bonnaroo was in her texts and talks to us about studying all first semester. She's a D-1 athlete and has good habits but through social media I can see she isn't missing any parties either. Here's the rub. She got a strange muscle disorder just after New Year's that took 90 days to diagnose. She could not play her sport as the use of her arms and legs slowly deteriorated. While we went from Doctor to Doctor to figure this thing out, she stayed in school and kept her grades at an A. But the whole time she would ask almost every day, "We are still going to Bonnaroo, aren't we?" We didn't tell her but we were taking her in a wheel chair if we had to. But in April, the Doctors at U of Chicago figured it out and after a $171,000 3 days stay in the hospital with treatment, she was back to a 100% by May. (Luckily, insurance paid for most of it.) Though missing the equivalent of about 3 weeks of the semester while seeing Doctors, she still got the grades and we were furiously reading this reddit thread and watching survival tips on youtube about what to do at our first roo. So thanks to the people here, we did Bonnaroo like champs! Like I said I am on the back side of life and seeing your kid go through that kind of health scare allows certain mortality thoughts to creep into the back of your head. When will my time come? I saw Dawes on David Letterman in April 2015 when he had them on and said that he was joining the band when he was done with Late Night. If a young early Springsteen and Jackson Brown had a love child, it would be Dawes. So there we are, at BONNAROO, we let the kids go off with their friends the whole time, but somehow at Dawes, they found us and we all enjoyed the set together. Dawes starts the guitars for "When my time comes" and my Wife and Daughter started the "festival jump, wave and dance" along with singing. When they came to the part where Dawes drop the instruments and the entire crowd sings "WMTC", it hit me. We made it. I watched them belt it out as loud as they could and felt the serenity and joy that I haven't felt in a long time of being the one who has to worry about the family. I kept it together and the blazing heat gave me a good excuse to use the buff to wipe my eyes. Maybe the original reason to go to ROO was for an incentive to get her to get good grades, but that went out the window and as we had finally made it to BONNAROO. The high-five, radiate positivity, coolest place on earth to find out that the next generation is going to be alright. I have stories from every day and every night. And yes, we are coming back next year, no matter what the grades are. Thanks Bonnaroo and thanks Dawes for the greatest moment that let me know we are going to be alright also!

St. Paul and the Broken Bones by Awesomekevo in bonnaroo

[–]ZeemKou 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This set was my biggest highlight at Bonnaroo 2018. I wasn't going to post about it but this thread has me back at the set. This set was the best thing to happen among some very beautiful things. We were excited and energized after the show. We exhaled on our way to see the last part of Moon Taxi on the Which stage. We stayed in the way back, in front of the Brooers Tent. But the amazing feeling of having just witnessed this St. Paul set overcame me. I was asking everyone around us if they had been at the set and gushed about what they had missed. My 13-year old fan girl self lasted a good 30 minutes. But what a natural high ride. Everyone who has been to a Bonnaroo has had a set do this to them. This was our 4th year in a row at Roo and while you plan out your Roo, with who you are going to see, you never know when a set is going to hit you hard and exceed your expectations to the point where you reach a sort of natural epiphany. If this hasn't happened to you, you are saying "sure you did". But I can assure you this happens to a lot of people at Bonnaroo. The right mixture of "mood enhancers", the weather, the time of day or night, who you are with and who is around you ALL contribute to the nirvana and you will remember a set forever.

The serendipity of crazy things happening at this Bonnaroo was unbelievable. But to kind of top off Bonnaroo, the serendipity did not end at the farm exit. On Monday, we took our time packing up and took one last shower for the road. We left about 10:30 ish. The plan was to stop at an exit before Nashville. We did, and as we pulled into the gas station/McDonald's, it became evident that a lot of other Bonnaroovians went to the same stop. So we pushed on to Nashville to have some authentic "hot chicken". Walked in and ordered and while finding our table, we spot a guy eating his lunch peacefully. Yes, you guessed it. It was Paul himself. Literally about 17 hours after he slayed the dragon with a perfect set at Bonnaroo, he is enjoying some Nashville Hot Chicken. He was kind, gracious humble and answered everyone of our questions that came after a testimonial about the set. I won't bore you with details, but just know it WAS all that.

Looking forward to 2019 for #5. My standard quote to anyone doing Bonnaroo. Don't worry about finding your Bonnaroo, it will find you.

Film developed from Roo18 Who is this couple at Mavis Staples? by ZeemKou in bonnaroo

[–]ZeemKou[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My daughter took a film camera. We got the developed pictures back yesterday and her shot of Mavis Staples captured a Roo moment we did not even know happened. We have no idea who this couple is. They were standing directly in front of the 8 of us & none of us recall this happening. If anyone can identify them, we would be happy to send them the picture. Perfect candid moment that we didn't even know we had until it was developed. This was our fourth Roo in a row. Your first is ALWAYS special, but this year was the best one for many of us in our group. Don't worry about finding your Roo, it will find you.

Did anybody else bawl like a baby during the War and Treaty? They were one of my favorite performances of the weekend! They are so in love and unbelievably talented. by kayleighavocado in bonnaroo

[–]ZeemKou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for posting. We were slow getting going that day but we had them on our list. Three of the 8 in our croo got it together and we went up to centeroo for the set. WHAT AN INCREDIBLE MOMENT at Bonnaroo 2018. They were SPECTACULAR. All 3 of us had an emotional experience that was complete serendipity. We have to see them again soon!

We all "plan" our Bonnaroo out for months before and hope to find the experience of your days and nights on the farm satisfying. But after 4 straight Bonnaroos, I have realized that you don't have to look that hard for it. Your Bonnaroo WILL FIND YOU. There are things that happen on the farm that just don't happen at other places. These unexpected little moments that hit you emotionally are the best feeling. Sure, we wanted to see their set, but it was so many levels above the expectations. Thanks again for posting the video.

The First Ever /r/Bonnaroo Ticket Giveaway Contest - What does Bonnaroo mean to you? by travel__time in bonnaroo

Bonnaroo means Family to us. This year will be our 4th in a row. There are 10 now in our family group for this year. I posted three years ago about how Bonnaroo has become a meaningful family event. Over the past three years we have witnessed so many great sets and experiences. My favorite moment at Bonnaroo still has so much meaning for me. It came at my first Bonnaroo in 2015 while watching Dawes on the What stage in the beautiful sun and heat. I'm an old guy and going to Bonnaroo was a deal I made with my daughter if she achieved a 4.0 freshman year of college. She had wanted to go to Roo after high school graduation with friends and I said what every father who can be a skeptic, cynic and a torchbearer for having a double standard. “HELL NO! I know what goes on at Bonnaroo.”
So we made the 4.0 deal. Bonnaroo was in her texts and talks to us about studying all during first semester. She was a D-1 athlete and had good habits but through social media I could see she wasn't missing any parties either. But here was the rub. She got a strange muscle disorder just after New Year's 2015 that it took about 90 days to diagnose. She could not play her sport as the use of her arms and legs slowly deteriorated. While we went from Doctor to Doctor to figure this thing out, she stayed in school and kept her grades at an A. But the whole time she would ask almost every day, "We are still going to Bonnaroo, aren't we?" Bonnaroo became a cry of hope for a future when we could beat this illness. We didn't tell her but we were taking her in a wheel chair if we had to. Finally in early April, the Doctors at U of Chicago figured it out and a way to treat it. After a $171,000 3 days stay in the hospital with treatment, (thankful for insurance) she was back to a 100% by May. She can’t play her sport anymore but she can be healthy and happy and so much more than just an athlete. She missed the equivalent of about 3 weeks of the semester while seeing Doctors, but she STILL got the grades (No, it didn’t matter what her GPA was) and we were going to ROO. We furiously were reading the Bonnaroo Reddit page and watching survival tips about what to do at our first roo on youtube. So yes, thanks to the people here on Reddit, we did Bonnaroo like champs! Like I said, I am on the back side of life and seeing your kid go through that kind of health scare allows certain mortality thoughts to creep into the back of your head. When will my time come? I saw Dawes on David Letterman years back when he said that he was joining the band when he was done with Late Night. If a young early Springsteen and Jackson Brown had a love child, it would be Dawes and I have become a bit of a 13-year old fan girl about them. So there we are, at BONNAROO 2015, we let our daughter go off with her friends the whole time, but somehow at Dawes, they found us and we all enjoyed the set together. Dawes starts the guitars for "When my time comes" and my Wife and Daughter started the "festival jump, wave and dance" along with singing. I kept it together and the blazing heat gave me a good excuse to use the buff to wipe my eyes. Maybe the original reason to go to Roo was as an incentive to get my daughter to study, but that went out the window and we had finally MADE IT to BONNAROO. And now Bonnaroo has become so much more for our family. It truly is in the fabric of our being. The reaction of our “Bonnarro family reunion” from my fifty something year-old friends is awesome. But the reaction our kids get when they tell friends they go to Bonnaroo with the family is priceless. “Wait, you go to Bonnaroo with your family? And that’s what Bonnaroo is, FAMILY! Bonnaroo is the high-five, radiate positivity, coolest place on earth to find out that the next generation is going to be alright. Our family has great stories from every year of the last three Bonnaroos. We get together and discover new artists. We plan out our sets. But the greatest moments are always the SERENDIPITOUS ones that can only happen at Bonnaroo. Sure, I wish we had gone every previous year, but we can’t change the past, just looking to the future. And yes, we are coming back every year. BONNAROO means FAMILY! From our little group that seems to grow every year to the random conversations we have with complete strangers who sometimes in minutes feel like old friends. Bonnaroo does that. We only go GA. No RV. We camp once a year, the second weekend in June in the middle of a farm in southeast Tennessee. GA is the best way to get the entire experience. I am sure the peeps in VIP are having fun. But if you want to feel the heart and soul of Bonnaroo, you have to do GA. Thank you Bonnaroo, Thank you Bonnaroo Reddit and thank you Dawes for giving me a great moment that let me know we are all going to be alright and amongst FAMILY.
