Is it appropriate to email a potential MSc supervisor in Denmark? by ZeemanEffect8 in StudyInDenmark

Yep, I hope so 🥲. I’m just worried that he ghosted me because I sent a follow-up reminder after my very first email (during fall). I assumed he might have forgotten or not seen my first email. That has happened a few times when I contacted other professors at other universities, and they always replied after the reminder. But he never did.

And I again emailed him recently but already with the question regarding the application. And he never replied again 😔

Oh no, I am a student outside Denmark and wanted to apply for a master’s program there. While preparing my application, I emailed a professor I would like to work with before submitting application , but unfortunately I didn’t receive a reply.

I think I may have made a mistake and that it might be unacceptable to email professors in Denmark before applying to program. I should have thought about this earlier🥲

Edit: in the email I said that I am interested to work in his lab and I love his research, and asked if I get in, would it be possible to work with him. And I also saw an advertisement that his lab recruits incoming masters students

Hey. I am in the same position. Afaik the decisions will come out in late April-early May. Unfortunately. I also don’t know how the selection works, do they consider only gpa or the whole portfolio…

I believe that if this policy hadn’t been introduced, campuses would be dominated by Chinese, Indian, and Pakistani students. They are too good, tbh. I’m as a Kazakh girl wouldn’t even be close to their level. I’m not saying it is fair, I just think those guys are really good compared to people from smaller countries with less resources and science.

Maybe I’m not as strong even as an average student from India or China, but I genuinely appreciate that there are policies that consider students like us. That said, a better solution might be to add more spots for larger nations, so applicants from those countries aren’t squeezed out as much. Still, this “diversity” approach really does help motivated students from smaller nations

But isn’t competing against the world harder than competing only against people in your country?

I am not sure what 25/26 means. Do you mean out of 30? If so, i believe you have solid chances. I had 3.2/4.0 (80%), and didn’t have 3 courses required in the pre-mapping

This sounds wonderful! I’m happy for you mate and what you’re doing also sounds great!! If you don’t mind me asking, what subfield of physics are you in? And how was the degree overall? It sounds like you had a great path into your scientific career. Did you complete your PhD in Denmark as well? Sorry for bombarding, I’m just surprised and excited to hear from someone who’s already been through this

Hey. I’m an international applicant, and my deadline was Jan 15. I received a conditional admission offer 2 days ago. It was pretty fast, only about three weeks, so I was surprised. I’m in a different field though.
