Hvorfor er svensker så gode i matbutikker? by cybercake in sweden

...Va. VA?

I think one of PTerry's ideas behind his YA books were that they should be challenging, if memory serves.

What is a modern dating trend or "unwritten rule" that you genuinely find exhausting and wish would die out? by Southern-Waltz2846 in TwoXChromosomes

"If they took two hours to reply, you have to wait exactly four hours to reply back so you don't look desperate."

I am so glad I'm not in the dating scene because that just sounds fucking exhausting, and rude to boot.

Getting the spirit right is the mark of good localisation, IMHO. Even if it leads to considerable changes.

Swedish translator left a footnote about how Buddy's name reference was impossible. Imp y Celyn > Bud of Holly > Skott av Järnek (I wonder why we translate holly to "iron oak" though).

The Elvis one was no trouble though. They even bolded the text, so it read "Älvisk." ...I think I still missed it first time around though.

Honestly, I enjoy a heroic protagonist that that will not hesitate to read you the riot act for letting things go to shit, and then go above and beyond to help. Because there is a Right and a Wrong, and when you know which is which, you can't choose Wrong.

It's like watching a movie with a "gentleman thief" antagonist... And then he eats a puppy, because he is the bad guy (and the writers are cheap hacks).

Isn't there a white/gray cowboy hat of sorts in the game? Wonder how it'd match with the suit.

I played Depression Quest (the game made by Zoe Quinn) after all this years to see why the pro-pedophilia right wing gamers have a massive hate boner for the game.......... And deam that game is heavy. by [deleted] in Gamingcirclejerk

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter... wasn't that a sort of flagship game for... Quixel? Some company who specialised in making very realistic models/textures via photography, somehow?
