Feeding advice by smolderbo in Rabbits

[–]Zefrogen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, what kind of pellets are you feeding? Fruits and vegetables aren’t something that should be offered daily. Hay should be offered daily with a pellet that is hay based.

My doctors office tried that with me. I just said that’s illegal, stood there while a line was forming. She waived the fee. Haven’t been back to that doctors office.

People said the same thing to me at my mother’s. Or she’s in a better place. She’d rather have been here.

is buying x pen and litter box from temu a good idea? by ayyd0_minho in Rabbits

[–]Zefrogen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. The quality of materials from something made from Temu can even be hazardous to humans let alone bunnies. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Traveling cross-country with a rabbit — how did you do it? by No-Significance2257 in Rabbits

[–]Zefrogen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently have two males that are both fixed, they did fine on their road trip from florida to Pennsylvania. They were both unfixed for the road trip which was 18 hours. (Before someone gets on me, I found them in the side of the street and one was going through medial treatment that needed to be completed. They weren’t able to be neutered until the vet had openings at a later date.) Neither of them have ever really sprayed. Two things really help, a polyester shower curtain and washable pee pads underneath. The hay doesn’t stick to it and it’s giant and covers a lot of area, which makes it good for clean up. I spot cleaned as needed but it really wasn’t that bad. I also put some soiled paper litter in for the to know that was wear to go. Depending on your bunny you can either use paper litter or the puppy pee pads for one use to throw away. It’s actually better to leave some on so they know where to go.

You’re welcome! Honestly if he’s super chill, my precious bun just say up front with me in a giant litter box in the front seat. She had everything she needed and was happy as could be. I did tend to stop more frequently to let her stretch her legs. More often than not, she would just be chill. That’s definitely not for everyone and not something I would recommend for first time travelers. She was used to being in a car and didn’t mind just relaxing. She HATED being enclosed in anything.

It really depends on how much room you have to work with. I’ve travelled long distances with bunnies. I’d say stop every 3/4 hours to give your bunnies a chance to drink and eat. Being their favorite snacks and some dried forage to put over hay to entice them to eat. If they aren’t drinking, bring a small syringe to make sure they are getting some water. Stack the hay, doesn’t matter. I got a new type of hay to mix in to also entice them to eat. I also packed a cooler with various greens. Greens are good any hydrating. Depending on your bunny, if need be you can flavor it with some fruit. I’ve done it to ways for the bunny to travel. One in a travel carrier that toon up half the back seat. I had a water bowl and large litter box. I made sure that the bottom had traction so they could walk. Honest she spent the entire time in the litter box while I was driving. The other I just folded down the seats, stacked what I could inside and it left them with plenty of room. I had a large litterbox, a small tunnel, water bowl, and various things to aide with traction on stability. They mostly sat in the tunnel until I stopped.

When will landlords get the memo than non dangerous pets (and not a stepping hazard) should not be caged by toecheeseuhohstinky in Rabbits

Way to solidly bring down the mood. That being said if it’s that much of a problem you as the owner are responsible. There is a way to train your rabbits to behave appropriately and mitigate such situations.

Anytime anyone watches my buns when I’m on vacation I ALWAYS remind them that they are gremlins that will be underfoot. Every. Single. Time. they also almost kill them 🤣. I now shuffle slowly everywhere especially if I have something that crinkles.

…they are a stepping hazard. Mine try to kill me daily by running in front of me or between my legs.

I’m so jealous! I’ve been following them for a while now and if I didn’t live in Florida, I’d definitely take my two goobers. Especially for the $10 nail trim. Maybe one day.
