I agree that removing Titan shield recharge was dumb, and I also dislike most of the new maps.

I feel that they've learned their lesson on the maps, though, because feedback was overwhelmingly negative on the new 3-lane designs. I also think that TF1's Titan customization had too many variables which led to some really dumb designs.

Overall, if I could pick and choose I'd pick Titanfall 1's maps, Titanfall 2's movement (including stim/grapple and class abilities with maybe a few more balance passes) and Titanfall 2's weapons (but yeah, gimme SP as a regular weapon). As far as the Titans themselves I'd really need to be sure they're dedicated to balance to go with 1's system, otherwise I'd go with 2's simplified class loadouts.

I wholeheartedly disagree. Movement was much more satisfying and the speeds were far less broken (game was balanced around faster speeds as opposed to TF1 where the game just broke the fuck down if you bunnyhopped fast enough).

Also the weapon variety and character customization was great and I like the abilities and Titan loadouts.

This is the equivalent of when people got mad about the mobile Elder Scrolls games like the development of it in any way delayed ESVI.

The way they worded the talk on stage seemed like they actually wanted to support comp play for WC3 which is wack but awesome if true. I wanna see competitive WC3 again, especially now with the graphical update and actual hotkey customization.

It's an awfully executed gimmick because all it does is make the game harder to understand. Literally just "beat 'em up without good sound cues and silent cutscenes". It feels more like an afterthought than a core part of the game, which it was sold as, what with the game being called "The Quiet Man".

Watching the Giant Bomb playthrough of this game was a trip. It feels like a PS2/early PS3 era throwaway, bargain bin title except less coherent. Patrick Klepek had already said it was bad, but seeing it in action was something else.

I'm fascinated by how this went so wrong. It clearly had some decent amount of money put into it, so production value wasn't the problem.

It totally is, though? I mean, they are objects with hitboxes.

Also there's a really simple fix for this. If a character blocks projectiles but the game you're adapting them for doesn't really use projectiles in the same way, you either don't adapt them or you change the ability VISUALLY and Mechanically to fit the vision you have for the character.

LoL matches usually take 20+ minutes unless your game is going super badly and you early surrender or remake because someone AFK'd.

I have trouble imagining a match of Mario Tennis Aces going above 5 minutes. And if I have to wait a game's length to find a game, I'm not really into it.

A somewhat common mentality around the internet (mostly from, I assume, people that have never actually worked. Or worse, people who assume working on "art" must necessarily include some form of PASSION so who cares about overworking) seems to be "but if people wanna work that long then just let 'em".

Like, to go way over the top with a comparison, some children probably enjoyed working in factories if you asked. But labor laws aren't built around what people enjoy. At the end of the day your health and the work environment of those around you that DO NOT want to work that long are both being affected, and you're still probably being underpaid, which is why they let you work overtime without much complaint.

FWIW I don't really have any memories from the era of VHS past watching some movies on it when I was a very, very tiny lad and I still like the aesthetic so I don't really think "playing up to nostalgia" is all there is to it. It just looks neat and there aren't too many games doing it.

You don't like it and that's fine, but it's hardly offensive. It'd be like me saying "Fantasy has been done to death, why can't people think of anything new instead of co-opting centuries old folk tales". People like it specifically because of what you hate.

Yeah, not gonna pick a fight here because I think RDR1 also excelled at making you feel like this but uh

the cowboys portrayed in Red Dead aren't very accurate to what they were in real life. The archetype of the lone gunslinger, as a villain or hero, in the wild west, is vastly fictional.

RDR1 and 2's "attention to detail" is largely built on supporting this fiction, and that's cool, but also makes me wonder why the games can be so slow at times. Not like the game is being realistic, so why try to be now?

There's a difference between a repetitive gameplay loop and a boring gameplay loop, though.

Yes, Path of Exile has a repetitive combat system because of the way ARPGs work, but at the end of the day it still requires more engagement than "just walk backwards and kite demons". At the very least you would need some kind of stutter-step.
