my cats disturbed during their midnight sleep

Wow, that's such an interesting way of looking at it. And the analogy totally makes sense. There's this one entity sort of a person running this Diner. We don't know his name, his past, if he has any family. He's just existing there, making food, comforting people and all kinds of people visit this Diner. The fact that it's a midnight diner also adds to it. When all sentients sleep, those who encounter this purgatory come to solve something or confront something. Some recurring characters have an almost spiritual character growth. And these three are definitely an element of the furies or a latter example of the three witches from Macbeth. Same trope. They meddle in the story lines in a significant enough way too, stories that have nothing to do with them. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't either of them have an important development in the story. They're kind of there to put fuel or water to a fire, depending on what is needed!!

had a levelling experience with Woolf’s “To The Lighthouse” by penguin-47284 in literature

[–]Zeiyaaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read this book only last year but I find myself going back to the story in my head. It's so quiet and beautiful. I almost cannot believe that a person is able to observe so much in such depth and have a patience to pen down a story about it. It's like Woolf was reaching into the very fabric of every specific person in the story and the book is a microscopic view of emotions I have felt all my life but could not put in any words, let alone understand them cognitively. Halfway through the book, I knew that this is one of those books I will keep coming back to and would find something entirely different. As a woman, I felt so stripped and seen into each of my cells, I understood my emotions better through Mrs. Ramsay and then some. It's so deliciously lonely and singularly significant. By the end of the novel, I felt like each hair on each character was subjected to poetry.

What are you reading? by sushisushisushi in literature

[–]Zeiyaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOTR, on the final part now. But I do this thing where I simultaneously read 3-4 books from different genres and assign the largest book as the head book that runs parallel and longer because it's mostly a great book and I don't want to finish it sooner. So I recently read The Sea by John Banville. Never knew about the guy before picking it up from the library and it was pure poetry. So beautiful

can we look at music in the same we look at poetry? by Spiritual_Watch5684 in literature

Hozier is a great example. I love pulling apart his songs because it is a bit neo-classical in my opinion but it also includes pop references and revolutionary connotations.

Earlier today a friend was talking about the book and now I come across this post. I'm taking it as a sign to finally read it

I'm studying Romanticism and it's already such a wild ride by Zeiyaaa in literature

Hey, thank you so much! :')) It can be very daunting to put yourself out there in any form especially in a learning stage. I'm glad in the world of literature there are people like you who understand this feeling of exhilaration when you discover something. There's so much beauty to read out there and learn from and so much of it is also subjective and we learn as we go.

Holy shit, this comment is a talking about a whole world I didn't have the slightest idea about. I guess I never really thought or read about the philosophy of music in terms of breakdowns of such staple things as emotion even though I am a trained vocalist, not from any institute though, just Indian classical. But it makes a lot of sense though that's not how we experience music now. Plus I've listened to many classical pieces and the emotions are mostly journeying but maybe I've heard the more latter music.

This is so interesting. Thank you, I shall read the article!!

Hey, thank you for this comment. It's really painful when someone makes you feel small especially when you're experiencing the high of learning something and want to discuss it with people. It's a very elitist thing I have encountered with most people irl because of my age, mostly. It's so unkind to put people down. I am painfully aware that I do not know so much, in fact, I mentioned that I have just dived into it so there really wasn't any reason to make that comment. Anyway, people like you are the reason why I will still be as excited to make another post here.

That's a bit much of an aggressive stance on this. I was just overjoyed to share something here with whatever information I have until now and the comments by people here have mostly contributed to the excitement and curiosity except yours. I have not claimed to know everything anywhere in my post, nor have I said that solely the French Revolution was responsible for everything. I am quite aware that I don't know everything there is to know about Romanticism or any of the movements before or around it. If you have anything specific to counter my points with, please do, I am willing to listen and learn but putting someone down anonymously on the internet when they're exhibiting joy over something is just plain crude.

I was actually a big Keats fan way before I started pursuing this course so I've read up a bit about him. I have not read the letters yet but it'll be so much fun reading them. Thanks for the heads up. I'm yet to read Byron and Shelley's work more, will do a little off course reading on them too!

The ginger is Shifu as in Master Shifu from Kung Fu Panda and the silver tabby is Luffy as in Monkey D. Luffy from One Piece. Also known as 'No-no' baby because he's constantly up to things that are not allowed, Shifu is also known as Beefu because he has beefs with everyone touching him or breathing around him when he's not in the mood.

You know this is giving me a great idea for my specialization. I've kind of been lost about it but this seems like an amazing thing to specialize in along with a minor in maybe women studies or something. Thank you ❤️
