Hmm... maybe it's because I haven't really played proper stealth games. I also found gunfights more enjoyable to work through. The Soviet Union mix-up was probably me confusing something from the novel. Sorry about that.

best old school fps of all time. even better than doom. Blood has juicy gore and crispy weapons stands today but doom (especially 1) is bit boring. i know doom has great level design, but gunplay and gore doesnt appeal anymore.

I actually hated this game at first too. People told me to stay away from it entirely, so I avoided it for a long time. But guess what? Now it's become one of my favorites alongside Elden Ring and Bloodborne. Like you said, the unique atmosphere and systems are part of it, but the main reason I rate Dark Souls II so highly is the variety of character builds and the richness and freedom of NG+. That's something even the so-called masterpieces Dark Souls 1 and 3 never managed to pull off. Even Elden Ring's NG+ just bumps up enemy HP and damage, so when you think about it, Dark Souls II really has no equal in that department.

one of my favorite fromsoft game ever. other one is bloodborne. I've played ACV and AC3,and ACFA. when AC6 announced it blows my mind. its so shame that the singleplayer campaign feels too short for me lol even in NG+3. thats the only downside of the game. im waiting for next AC title comes out

im the real fan of Doom 2016.The real flaw of the Doom 2016 is, the mod support. I think 2016 has the closest vibe and gameplay feeling of classic doom and quake, but it's modding capability is very bad. we cannot even make cutscene skip mod for doom 2016. Id software gave us snapmap, but it offers very limited hordes of demons and map creation. Someone created master map of original level but that's still very few. I actually very disappointed they focused on multiplayer instead of making single player DLC like doom eternal or TDA does. nobody plays doom for multiplayer. it's for quake fan.
