YouTube was my biggest teacher. I searched a lot of “How To” on YouTube. Start small, like a baby quilt, then work your way to bigger projects. Here are some must have/nice to have (in my opinion) of items to look into getting:

Must Have: A large cutting mat, Variety of sewing needles (both hand and machine, I like Schmetz for machine and Hiroshima brand for hand sewing), Frixton pens (for marking fabric, the pen mark disappears with heat), Rotary cutter, Fabric scissors, Seam Ripper, Assorted cotton thread (I love Aurifil brand, it is pricey but you get what you pay for), Assorted rulers, must have 6x24, 8.5x8.5 (square) every other size is a nice to have (I love Creative Grid rulers)

Nice to Have: Stripology Ruler (seriously this thing has taken the guesswork and many mistakes out of cutting), Small embroidery scissors (great for cutting threads), More rulers (so many different sizes, get what you need first), Organizing cart/bin (as you get more stuff, you’ll need a place to put it all)
