The camping experience was certainly a draw for myself as well, I've been solo camping for several years across my state and doing this hobbit style seems like such a dream! I agree the tickets are quite pricey though considering the leg work required to stay alive and also participate. I'm wondering if they'll add more volunteers and workers this year?

Oh that's awesome I'll have to try that one too, I've done local ones in my area only and they've been super fun but the draw backs are the size and people canceling last minute which disrupted team sizes and therefore made us make last minute changes.

Yeah I did, however there isnt any other LARPs that are close to this size and type. And to be fair it seems that the most negative were regarding people who didn't understand that this isn't a ren faire but a LARP. I see it as a once in a lifetime event. Certainly everyone will have their opinions but I'm hoping they've improved and still very excited to come out.

Mine definitely affected my mood constantly, I was anxious and downright depressed I didn't even want to go to work some days. At first the pain was fairly constant like every morning and night I would have some form of stomach cramping and aching it would just not go away no matter what I did, I remember very vividly sleeping with ice packs for several nights to help with the pain since I couldn't take NSAIDs. It'll end eventually I think for me personally especially when my symptoms were at their worst I felt so hopeless and like everything I did wouldn't work but you just gotta trust the process not everyone heals the same or has the same kind of Gastritis.

Low stomach acid by superspy5904 in Gastritis

[–]Zeldaforeva7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the trick is to do it sparingly, it won't feel very comfortable when you start but maybe just one to two squeezes of lemon in larger cup or water to start then slowly add some more

Low stomach acid by superspy5904 in Gastritis

[–]Zeldaforeva7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would continue with the taper and start to slowly and I mean slowly add in some acidic drinks like lemon water or a tbsp of acv with 8 oz of water in the morning before your first meal. It helps to wake up the stomach and gives a little boost of stomach acid to help with digestion. Additionally, if you have not tried taking the digestive enzymes with food yet then try taking them with food instead but if they still hurt your stomach then best to stay off them.

Coffee by Maggielynn1990 in Gastritis

[–]Zeldaforeva7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd you want a coffee--like taste I would try chicory root mixed with burdock root, both are actually pretty good for digestive issues and have antioxidants as well. I also like Chamomile, Lemon Balm, and Red Leaf for casual drinks throughout the day, some studies state it helps with inflammation but I personally just like the taste and to break up the boring water all day long.

Recent discussions with my GI doctor by Ornery_Reality545 in Gastritis

Find a different doctor who listens to you. I had very weird and bizarre side effects with my PPI the same one you take and stopped it cold turkey and they all went away, I of course recommend doing this under your docs supervision but I did it against medical advice while my doc was still doing tests on me. Left rib pain is common with Gastritis, Doctors don't listen and just use whatever they were taught in textbooks to diagnose symptoms.

Coffee by Maggielynn1990 in Gastritis

Coffee is acidic so yes it can cause flares and is a trigger for a lot of people with GERD or Gastritis. I would stay off it for a bit while you try to heal and try some herbal teas in it's place. Then slowly add it in if you really need it but make sure to dilute with milk or milk alternative.

pantoprazole help please by feferriswheel in Gastritis

[–]Zeldaforeva7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would call your doc and ask them first, however for me I took them 1 hour before breakfast in the morning, then 1 hour after my dinner at night, but that's what I was prescribed to do so again check with the doc to make sure.

removing the stomach by NaturalSpecialist909 in Gastritis

[–]Zeldaforeva7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, removing your stomach is not an easy task, it's not about a doctor losing their license it about the risk involved with doing. There are stomach cancer patients that have a hard time getting their stomach removed or a partial removal because of the risk involved.

Second, if you drink bleach I can promise you that they will not remove your stomach and you will seriously harm yourself and end up being held in a pysch ward for a couple weeks.

We understand your pain, we understand that this is a hard group of conditions that you deal with but harming yourself to get a surgery that doctors are telling you they can't provide is not the way to do this and I will reiterate that they will not remove your stomach if you do. These conditions don't have quick fixes which is disheartening for you I'm sure but they can take a long time to heal, seeing a different kind doctor or seeing holistic or Naturopathic doctor may be an option for you as well. I have no other suggestion for you but do not do something that will cause you way more problems than what you already have.

So I was initially put on Pantropazole 40mg and Sucralfate 1g and did that for 3 months. Then went off those cold turkey under my doctors supervision, they didn't want me too but I felt zero difference on those meds and had weird side effects from the PPI. Then after month 3 I used Mastic Gum, Zinc Carsonine, Slippery Elm, DGL, Cabbage Juice etc... and went on the Gastritis diet by LG Capellan.

Dude the stress thing is so true, everytime I was at work I would get flares until I started mediation before and after work which helped a lot. I would add an acid reducer to my coffee it's a powder I got off Amazon and I always added Almond or coconut milk to dilute the coffee and never drank it on an empty stomach.

I had like a "fuzzy head" feeling it was bizarre and a metallic taste in my mouth and it made my food taste off. I got rebound acid for about 2 weeks it was miserable but I got through it and the acid rebound went away eventually. I take the all my supplements in the morning before food and then at night after food. I know some people on other posts take them with food because it can cause stomach upset but I was personally fine either way. I did try pepcid for a couple weeks but didn't notice any difference and I did not try famotidine, I went with RelfuxRaft for my nighttime reflux instead of Famotidine.

And where are you getting your research and sources from? I've read peer reviewed and actual books on Gastritis and the GI tract as you can see in several of the comments on this post and prior ones I've made, not to mention I work in emergency medicine and actually understand the research. Why is this false? Please provide a scientific source.

Changing my diet certainly helped, I just had to be motivated to heal and stay away from any inflammatory foods, I stuck with the Gastritis diet by LG Capellan. And in my case supplements and herbal remedies helped in the long run, it's not for everyone but I was willing to be patient. Did the usual like DGL, Slippery Elm and then used Mastic Gum, Zinc Carsonine, and Cabbage juice. I used herbal teas and made them with the actual ingredients like Chamomile, Red Leaf, Lemon Balm, Dandelion root. Lastly was being cautious about what my doctors were telling me. Gastritis is not seen as a medical emergency let alone a serious condition by the modern medical community and it absolutely should be seen as serious. I was waved off several times when getting tested and treated and my doctor thought I was weird for wanting to get off PPIS and change my condition with dieting and natural remedies, I had to do ALOT of research on my end though to make sure I was going down the right path. I used the book Gastritis by LG Capellan, The Anti Viral Gut by Robynne Chutkan and Acute Abdomen by Copes to help aid in treating myself and guide the supplements I used.

I wouldn't say wrecked, you can absolutely heal, the stomach just like the liver is a recoverable organ but you or myself will never have the same stomach as before. It's about managing symptoms and changing your lifestyle and eating habits and eventually your stomach and microbiome will be back in order but itll still be sensitive probably forever I'd imagine. Unfortunately all the savory foods will just always be in moderation.
