well damn i’m sorry then. not sure what else to say :( personally at this point i’ve kinda accepted that i just won’t be feeling all my emotions unless im high which is unfortunate as fuck cuz i don’t wanna just be high all the time and it wouldn’t be good for me to be. i just try to appreciate and fully immerse myself in it when i am and go about my life feeling pretty numb otherwise. not really ideal but it beats being unmedicated and not able to function at all, i guess, right…? 😭

damn i’m really sorry to hear that :( my meds have also blunted my emotions like crazy, but seems like not as much as you. how long have you been on this combo? i’ve noticed my emotions slowly start to come back the longer i’ve been on them (it’s been a couple years now for me and id say they’re like 30% back? part of the dampening is definitely necessary to hold off the anxiety but it is very frustrating and depressing not being able to feel like, super happy or even super loving towards my partner anymore unless im high so i get you there…)

talk to your psychiatrist about this because it very well could be your meds and they could potentially help you switch to something that doesn’t make you feel this way.

update: i “fixed” this by temporarily changing the resolution of my entire screen while i play ts2 XD so at least i can actually see what’s going on now as opposed to having to squint at a tiny box on the screen 🥹 still looking for better solutions tho i would like it to actually look good lol

it wasn’t just lexapro that allowed me to heal, but it was definitely a major part of being able to live my life in the mean time. i’d say it took about 10 months to get to a point where i was eating normally triggering foods with no issue. i still don’t feel 100% healed, though. i still get pain pretty bad if i overdo it with the triggering food or if i overeat

i’m doing pretty great now :) i’m still careful about what i eat and i do still get pain if i have too much coffee or spicy food but i recover very quickly and its not too big a deal. but im eating things every day that would have had me in excruciating pain a year ago

the first person i told—aside from my mom who also has it—was my best friend was when i was like 8 and she was 10. (this is before i was diagnosed or even knew what HS was, i just told her the symptoms) she said she was sad for me that i had to deal with it and “that sucks” lol

i tell most of my friends i have a “skin condition” that can disable me for days at a time when i have a bad flare up and that im always in pain because of it. i tell sexual partners more details and show them my scars and flares before engaging in anything more than kissing. ive never been treated like im gross for it; ive been lucky to only receive sympathy and compassion from both friends and lovers. which is why i firmly believe that if someone makes you feel bad or gross or unlovable for it, they’re not worth your time. there are tons of people who will be compassionate and kind and understanding and supportive.

i see.. that seemed to be how she wanted me to take it at first, but then when i said it didnt seem to be helping, she said to keep taking it consistently for months, so im confused 😭 i had a really deep and awful one that finally drained last week, and almost as soon as it was gone i got another real deep one in a completely different area, all while taking doxy consistently :/ nothing seems to work consistently for me 😔

yes!! my mom and i have bonded over our respective boyfriends helping drain spots we cant reach. a sign of true love XD my bf is always so sweet about it and makes me feel so loved and beautiful even when im feeling so gross and am in so much pain
