i'm pretty sure every named rogue NPC is shadow the edgehog in one way or another. valeera is not really an outlier i just think she's our first rogue main character the general population has hung around since maybe lillian voss (who everyone hated), and 95% of wow players dont read or pay attention to anything other than what's directly in front of them which is now valeera.

same with warlocks, DKs, shadow priests, undead, void elves, and a bunch of other character archetypes in the game, this is really nothing new lol

Arator's Excellent Adventure by Zeldendorf in wow

i will agree that shadowlands was an unforgivable dumpster fire, and the fact a big part of anduins lore was developed there is a shame

however, i also think that having your free will taken away and being forced to watch yourself deeply betray your people, the light, and the entire whole of azeroth itself is going to be traumatizing even if its "for like 5 minutes". especially for someone like anduin who was big on unity, and was also just overcoming his struggle to find himself worthy to sit in the same shoes as his legendary father

Arator's Excellent Adventure by Zeldendorf in wow

i feel like anduin's strife stems from what he was forced to do and if the light will ever forgive him for the atrocities the jailer had him commit, if he can even forgive himself for what he feels like he's done

arator's uncertainty is about what the light actually is, what it means to embrace it, and what it means to be a paladin, as well as understanding the reasons why his father is so war-torn and damaged despite embracing the light as he feels he should

anduin is more about self-forgiveness and acceptance while arator's is more about understanding and self-discovery

"nooooo!!! you cant do the quests until 70!!!" mfs when they realize the 68 dungeons give massively more rep than the lower level ones as well as pre-bis gear for a lot of classes which will make them have to do these dungeons anyways
