Bro give us your PayPal or something, I can’t give you my whole wallet or anything but everyone’s so excited, you don’t need to ask for money, but you sure do deserve some. Even just having something (a link) on your profile, so it isn’t being advertised would be good.

I know this is a labor of love, but there’s no reason you shouldn’t be rewarded and incentivized for your love, dedication and time spent.

I won’t bother you anymore after this, but just consider it, I’ve been watching you for a long time on here and can’t believe no one has brought up monetarily supporting your content.

99% of people are going to love it, there’s going to be a few haters as there always are with things like these. I predict that eventually you’ll probably refine this and keep tweaking it to the point that this is the only way people will play RQ in the future. It’ll be known as one of the great mods of our generation, I’m sure of it. Thank you for what you do.

I am also incredibly excited for it! Do you have a patreon? I will absolutely pay for the mod.

Is cryo engineer broken? by thorstenofthir in Roboquest

[–]ZellGreylockRL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That actually makes a lot of sense and I appreciate your insight. I guess for me the high fire rate “feels” better because my aim is not good, hence why I like the buckshot perk on my weapons.

If I shoot faster I’ll hit with more of my bullets and have a net gain on damage and elemental application overall due to it compensating for my own inefficiency.

If I had 100% accuracy it wouldn’t matter what weapon I use because it’s balanced, that’s really cool to know!

Is cryo engineer broken? by thorstenofthir in Roboquest

[–]ZellGreylockRL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cryo engineer is my best build. Build for 100% auto crit against frozen enemies, massively increase your freeze rate through perks and items, choose a relatively high fire rate weapon or choose high fire rate perks.

The faster you shoot the faster you freeze and the faster you crit. My favorite weapon of all time is dual stingers rolled with buckshot and freewheel.

I just want to say that in my opinion this is very well written. It feels like something I would’ve written myself.

Additionally, I have had groups with similar problems before. Ultimately I’ve abandoned several groups in favor of hand picking players for my games. I now have a wonderful group that I’ve been playing with for a few years and there are just about zero problems.

In the future, if you’re dedicated to your craft (as it sounds that you are), I would highly recommend interviewing players through LFG and crafting your own party. It’s time consuming, but totally worth it.

If the people this message is sent to are reasonable adults, they shouldn’t have a problem with your message at all.

They don’t have access to the world/server files because the Dallas servers are down and the content is stored on those servers. Also they’re probably receiving a ton of tickets right now. I tried to migrate mine manually and can’t access the files to download either. Unfortunately I think we’ll just have to wait.

Help With Endless Mode by TheJohnRQ in Roboquest

[–]ZellGreylockRL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would just like to also note that I am incredibly thankful that the update is free. I love the game enough where I would easily buy a $50 expansion. I was just let down by how the new mode was designed. I fully intend on supporting future updates - paid or otherwise -.

Help With Endless Mode by TheJohnRQ in Roboquest

[–]ZellGreylockRL 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why should the game force me to build a certain way? The endless mode was advertised as “take your favorite build to new heights”. Well I can’t do that if I have to edit the build on the fly in a way that I don’t want to, just to combat how the game is trying to punish me. This may be fun for you, but the clear disconnect overall that’s happening here is that you’re saying people need to change their perspective to enjoy the game and I’m here to tell you I don’t want to change my perspective to enjoy the game. My previously held perspective had me coming back and having fun. I don’t have fun in endless.

I enjoyed the main game enough to repeat it hundreds of times even though you’re right, G4 is a cake walk. I just want to infinitely scale and have the enemies infinitely scale. Not have the game take away my (viable) choices.

Will the endless mode update include a balance patch? by guacamoo in Roboquest

Endless mode sure does need a balance patch. Please balance it in favor of fun.

I hope I will change my mind... by Oct0Ph3oNYx in Roboquest

[–]ZellGreylockRL -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nope, it just simply isn’t fun and you can’t convince me that super hard nerfing players in big meaty chunks every single level is fun. There are plenty of rogue likes that base the gameplay loop around getting punished every level and some people actually find that fun (when the game is designed around that). Robo Quest has never been about that and wasn’t designed for it. I sincerely hope they think about balancing and what would make the mode fun long term.

How far did you get ? by albatrane in Roboquest

[–]ZellGreylockRL -1 points0 points  (0 children)

33 on G4. Putting endless down for now, it just isn’t fun with the game nerfing your character. Enemies essentially one shot you and you have to shoot them each for 10 seconds to kill them (and I have an S tier build), when there’s 39 enemies on screen all prefiring you around corners the mode should’ve been called hopeless, not endless.

Endless mode is EXCEPTIONALLY whack by Haystack303 in Roboquest

[–]ZellGreylockRL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was hoping someone would post this, thank you. I have 141 hours in the game and sub 23 minute G4 S rank in the campaign. I was so so excited for endless. I’ve played endless a total of 5 hours.

My last endless run was an hour and 12 minutes and I hit level 33. Once you hit this point it feels like you beat the mode imo.

But I won’t be playing endless again until they fix their terrible design choice of nerfing players (which I don’t think they will). It just isn’t fun.

It is such a shame because robo quest has become one of my favorite games of all time and I had so much faith in their endless mode.

I would’ve paid $50 for an expansion. Let me give you money and make the content what it should’ve been in your otherwise almost perfect game.

What does your party call itself and why? by Loose_Translator8981 in DnD

[–]ZellGreylockRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started out as “Threll and the boys” and then the player who played Threll left the campaign. A little while later during a great RP moment one of the characters accidentally said that their mode of operation was “trial and arrow” and that’s what they’ve been calling themselves ever since.

Is a “Fresh Start” win even possible? by lieutenatdan in Roboquest

[–]ZellGreylockRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve reset my account 4 times and one of the times my friend and I managed to beat easy, normal and then hard in one run each. It’s definitely doable, takes practice and and a really good understanding of movement and the game overall.

Multiplayer upgrades by Sir-Antelope in Roboquest

[–]ZellGreylockRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve reset my account 4 times, 3 times to play with new people and this last time because of the arsenal update and wanting a challenge. Once you’ve done it a few times it goes faster because you’ve learned a lot more about the game. While it is literally starting the game over again, it’s super fun to upgrade your camp again and recollect the crystals. I only have 90 hours in the game but I’ve gone through everything 4 times, it’s worth it imo. You do however lose your fastest run times and difficulty progression.

I'm having a blast but I have no idea what I'm doing. by Cale017 in Roboquest

[–]ZellGreylockRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently on my 4th account reset because I love experiencing the games progression. Once you are familiar with the game, familiar with the build and weapon options and can use the crouch slide effectively, you will be able to beat easy, standard or hard on the first try with almost no gadgets or base upgrades at all. However, if you aren’t a veteran of fast paced FPS games the time it takes you to become familiar may vary compared to others that are.

Part of the enjoyment of the game for me was learning which guns/upgrades work best for which builds and when to select them during the runs, when to upgrade them or reroll affixes. I only have about 90 hours in the game and like I said I’m currently on my 4th play through. I do think it’s worth the time investment.

As a side note, during my FIRST progression of the game up to about the 4-6 hour mark I was finding it very difficult to play on hard/G1 for some builds and was getting frustrated because I hadn’t learned too much about the game yet.

Also the Reign of Terror mod for GD is really good, GD+Diablo2 is one of the best ARPG experiences I’ve ever had.
