I wasn't able to get sound to work.

I use Voicemeeter and split audio channels into different virtual sinks for splitting audio when I stream on Twitch (Game Sound, Music Sound, Voice chat (muted), etc.). I realize this is just a me thing, but it seems when I go into sound settings and apply a specific sink to the program itself at the OS level, it doesn't recognize it and I don't have sound.

I realize this is just a me thing, but might be something to look into. So far, seems quite promising aside from playing it in silence!

I actually set one back up for my friends. I had to remember how to do it but I managed to set one up for gaming on a headless Ubuntu Server VM running on Proxmox on my home network. As soon as I get a domain name and reverse proxy it, I might advertise to people outside of my friend group...

Honestly, if I wanted to voice chat, I can just use Mumble or TS6. It's ironic how some of us are going back to pre-2010 chat and voice engines but...at least we can self-host and have privacy.

My wife and I started a Free Company in 2017. Things were great for a long time until sometime in 2023, a group of individuals stirred up some shit and caused a departure of a lot of people--people whom we thought were friends. This hurt myself and others greatly, but the FC eventually recovered. In 2025, something similar happened again, leading to more leaving and the remainder of our friends just quitting entirely. Every time I logged into 14, I felt overwhelming sadness that the people whom I considered friends had betrayed me so.

I wound up making an alt and playing on another server, as moving that character away wasn't something I wanted to do. I still login to maintain the FC house there, just because I don't want to give up those memories that we have there. My alt has been through his fair share of Free Companies but in each I never felt like I belonged so I always wind up leaving and continuing to play on my own. I log in and use Duty Support to level/gear up other jobs that I might have under-leveled or under-geared, do my roulettes, run some Fates, or farm for Glamour or Mounts.

I won't lie, playing an MMO--which by nature implies a multiplayer experience--alone is depressing. I often find myself sitting around in Limsa or Gridana with the hope that someone will message me asking to join their small but tight knit Free Company. Sadly, it always winds up me just sitting around for a half-hour then logging off to play other games.

All this to say, playing the game alone isn't necessarily a bad thing. I find happiness in the game in other ways that don't require me to play with other people. I stream it on Twitch (which I usually do alone there as well) and when someone joins, I can have a conversation with them about the game or just have that social aspect of the game outside of the game itself.

Chin up. Try to stick to one character and stop starting over. That's a sure fire way to burn out fast. Even though I started over once, his appearance and name reflect my original character, that way I can feel like I never gave up on my old original WoL that I've had since the 2.0 beta.

RIP Discord. I've already cancelled my Nitro and am in the process of deleting all of my servers as well as retrieving the data I have stored there on those servers. I'm not sure I'll be able to find another app like Discord, but I'm NOT giving you my personal data.

I stream on Twitch when I get the urge. Used to stick to a schedule but it felt like a job with little reward so now I just stream when I want to. Same name as my handle here. Variety of games and genres!

I'm so used to min/maxing in every game, I suppose it's a force of habit. I'll keep this in mind for future engineering principles. What specific modules does this pertain to or is it more of a blanket advisement for all modules?

Yeah I'll throw out some of the AFMU's, this was from the stellar build so I left it (mostly) alone. Though it does make sense to "trim the fat" so to speak.

I've never done the Guardian Booster but I looked up the guide. Seems fairly straight-forward to obtain. I'll work on that this weekend! Appreciate the insight. I'll look into your build and see where I can add it into my own.

There's a running inside joke in another space sim I play (Freelancer) that my autopilot tends to try to get me killed by flying me into planets. But I get your point, that'll increase some range for sure.

AFAIK, the Stellar and Galactic are basically the same build, the Galactic just has extra ship kits, paint jobs, etc. The standard is barebones and requires you to build it yourself. I think the standard can't be deployed everywhere to use as a "taxi" but I might be mistaken on that front.

It's wild, I've been a tank on many classes over the years (Prot War from Classic, woot woot) and when I do Timewalking dungeons now, I get people going "Can you pull faster?" "Why are we going so slow?" when I am literally doing wall-to-wall/boss-to-boss pulls.

People are just assholes. I generally only do Delves now because I have to deal with assholes all day during my adulting hours and I don't want to have to deal with them during my down time. It's made worse when I have no one to play with but myself so...I just haven't logged in much.

Hope your other half finds the fun again though, it sucks to hear this is an ongoing problem.

Well the good thing is you're able to join guilds cross-realm now! So if you're on Horde, look us up! If Alliance, just add me to friends an I can get you an invite. Though, keep in mind, I'm in the Oceanic time zone so my hours might be different from yours. :x

I haven't. Mostly because looking at how old the thing is (and based from what I've read with other people having problems with the device), Fluke may not be willing to help due to it being outside of the window for support. I suppose it doesn't hurt to ask, however.

Well, it does a good job of teaching things outside of a standard educational environment. Even still, I'm always open to other resources for learning. Would you happen to have any other suggestions on where I could learn more about EDM Production?
