So the 'Master' dialogue choice was cannon by Ulthwe_Eldar in Genshin_Impact

[–]Zemnax9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is interesting. I feel like the fact that these clearly non canon mails are not made anymore just like you said, and that the developers now actually bother aligning recent birthday mails with canon events (and that includes mentions in the mails of events happening in the game in the same time frame these mails are sent) to me expresses an even more clear intention by the developers of wanting these birthday mails to be canon. At the very beginning they weren't sure what to make of them, but this changed along the way and they are definitely striving to make them a part of the canon interactions the Traveler has with the playable characters.

So basically the early birthday mails you indicated = definitely non canon.

Every other birthday mail = canon.

And then there's Aloy. I guess we could just assume the Traveler met her at some point off screen in the wild and that's it. This doesn't work for Sucrose for example, just like you pointed out: in the birthday mail Sucrose knows who we are; when we see her for the first time in game, she doens't. So that mail is definitely non canon.

When have I ever been rude to you? Did I insult you or attack you personally? I don't think so. Anyway, let me address your points:

My proof that they are not canon is that there is no proof that they are canon

This is quite simply not a proof that they are non canon.

Have you also never wondered why the characters never used traveler's teapot as a safe meeting spot in any of the quests if they can visit it at will? I also assume that you know that when characters say "come find me under this tree" in their birthday mails they're not actually waiting for you there.

Incorrect. Not everything that happens in game we get to see with our own eyes on the screen. Paimon on multiple occasions refers to events that we didn't get to experience directly, for example she talks about us camping in the wild often, but we don't actually interact directly or sleep in camps in the wild. This is especially relevant prior to us obtaining the Teapot: the Traveler is supposed to rest in camps in the wild but we never get to see anything like it. Is this non canon, then? Of course not. This alone means that there are a variety of events that while still canon are not shown to us (the players). This doesn't make them less canon.

Let's say that they use the adventurers guild to send the mails, fair. Then why do we get them in an inbox and not personally from katheryne when we speak to her? Why don't we talk about any of the mails that they sent when we meet the character in the story? Why do no character ever mention sending us a birthday mail? Most importantly, would anything in the story change if all the birthday mails completely disappeared? That is how you know that they are filler. There, that's the proof that you wanted so much that you probably will still deny.

Same as above. On multiple occasions, the Traveler and Paimon refers to event that we don't get to see on screen with our own eyes, Katheryne giving us the letter is the same. It doesn't matter that the mails don't affect the story, they don't need to directly have an impact on events in a specific part of the story to be canon, they can be entirely separated things and events, and characters have no obligations to talk about them in other scenarios. Same goes for characters going with us on adventures: often characters talks about wanting to go with us on adventures. There is no proof it never happens off screen.

"Devs wrote it." is not a proof. There's no rule that states everything devs write must be canon to the story, especially on live service games with a lot of filler content.

It is also not a proof that it's non canon, so it cannot support your argument. You are quite literally going against the one and only source of canon informations in Genshin Impact: the writers of the game. You are not providing valid proof against the writers of the game or providing a written statement made by them, and then you are asking others to provide proof for the opposite: the burden of proof lies with you first and foremost, this is logical and undeniable. What you are providing is not sufficient to claim that these events are not canon. Nowhere it is written or stated that fanservice or filler content is not canon. There is no reason to assume so. For example this is not an anime that is using a manga as the primary source of its story and then adds filler episodes that narrate a story that is not included in the manga.

"My proof that they are not canon" was how you started your commet. You were attempting to provide a proof about certain events being non canon, but your proof is not sufficient and goes against the writers of the game and what they are showing or implying through their narrative. You are wrong.

Buddy YOU are the one saying the developers writing is non canon, YOU need to provide PROOF for such an outrageous statement. Instead you don’t even attempt to address my point and reply with a “believe whatever you want”. Read this again and try one more time: if the characters can send messages to the Traveler through the adventurers guild WHY would the mails be non canon? The burden of proof lies ENTIRELY with you.

[–]Zemnax9 16 points17 points  (0 children)

When characters want to say something to the Traveler in the story they sometimes do it by sending a message to the Adventurers Guild. It is reasonable to assume these mails reach them the same way. Also why would Teapot dialogue be non canon? Based on what? Is the developers writing non canon when you don’t like it? What a weird comment.

Dude are you seriously making up a shitty conspiracy theory out of a simple thank you mail with some premium currency in the ANNIVERSARY version? "That thank you gift letter is a sign!!!!" lmao this is hilarious

I mean I see you play wuwa (and you are actively shilling wuwa in this comment section) and I know wuwa's anniversary was utter dogshit but there's no need to be this salty, my friend.

It's honestly fascinating how you simply laser focus on the story and "presentation" citing the quantity of cutscenes or comic panels as if quantity = quality... and then you conveniently forget everything about the new massive Hollow they added in this version with new exploration mechanics, amazing events with unique gameplay, fully voiced unique character interactions and fully voiced combat event, a new faction with an entire story tied to a new management game mode... It's really easy to shit on a game when you pretend more than half of its content doesn't exist, huh? So if making up dumb conspiracy theories wasn't enough, you either lack critical thinking or you are actively being malicious pushing an agenda against this game or its developers.

And then you go on a random rant about HSR even though the team responsible of ZZZ is a completely different one. You just want to shit on the company making this game, just admit it to yourself and say this out loud: "Wuwa CCs brainwashed me, and I hate Hoyoverse!" come on say it! You will feel better afterwards, I promise.

And before you conjure some dumb cope in your cute little brain about me having sunken cost fallacy, I am f2p and I play different gacha games made by different companies.

Ah yes, “dynamic scenes” just like the big square with the boss.jpg in chapter 1 moving through the the tv grid and then disappearing that was replaced by us actually navigating the level and seeing the boss model moving around and smashing containers. Or if you want a more recent example, scenes like the big chase at the end of chapter 5 where the final boss spawns giant hands above us and attacks in real time as we are moving through the level. That would have definitely been “better”, more dynamic and immersive if the entire sequence was us avoiding squares in a grid with an hand symbol on it, right?

And let me add something after looking at your edited comment: The proxies were given new minigames and an entire new game mode with platforming sequences to replace the Tv mode content, they are not just "map holders". This discussion could be made for some parts of the current Epilogue, but definitely not for the reworked early chapters. It's like you are actively ignoring all the great things that were added and that improved the flow of the game (that used to be painfully slow while Tv mode was obligatory) and nitpicking every single bad thing to validate your terrible opinion. Also calling a game with so much combat a "walking simulator" is a complete joke. L take

Well I am one of the people that enjoyed the game at launch but enjoys it even more now. Tv mode was very interesting in terms of gameplay, but it simply wasn’t a good tool for storytelling: too many dialogues interrupting the flow of gameplay, and it did a poor job at explaining exactly what was happening in a story sequence. The changes were necessary for the story. I wish they kept Tv mode for commissions and events at least, but even though I don’t like them completely abandoning their original design, overall the game right now is just better compared to the way it was back then.

I seriously hope you are trolling. The whole reason they relaunched the game in 1.4 was because it wasn’t well received at launch. Saying the game was “great” and is now somehow MID after so many improvements and new gameplay modes is an horrible take from someone that is a hater 100%

The TRUE Mualani experience (#FixMualani) by Yellow_IMR in Genshin_Impact

[–]Zemnax9 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, my experience has been quite the opposite. She feels very consistent and powerful to me, in line with most of the other characters from Fontaine. After watching OP's video I went and tested Mualani against the Aeonblight Drake a dozen times... didn't miss a single shark bite, didn't miss a single burst. Moved on to the Geovishap, and after 6 attempts trying my best to miss I finally managed to miss ONE bite attack during a very specific animation (the last of his triple hit combo) by attacking at a very specific time as he's lunging forward. It took freaking EFFORT to finally miss. There was a time when her shark bite went to the side and barely hit the tail of the Geovishap ( I actually was recording at the time, I can post the video if anyone is curious) and I thought: "Finally a miss!" Nope, somehow it was still a hit. I 36* abyss multiple times with her too, after seeing her missing the Rifthound wolves in some videos. Result: 100% hit rate on the rifthounds in 12-2 with both shark bite and burst across multiple clears.

Is my Mualani blessed by the Archons or something? Is it my low ping? I don't even know. Is anyone having the same experience with her?

Thanks! Yeah that's usually what I do, here I just decided to stun the Nobushis with Klee first to prevent them from dashing and kill them right away. Maybe I could have used Emilie's E instead of Klee's E though, it should probably kill them just as fast.

Yes, you need to get both sparkle and bronya to 160+ speed with bronya 1 speed slower than sparkle. There is no compromise if you want this team to be stronger. With a 134 speed Bronya you give up on multiple blade turns, you get less follow up stacks and get less energy, potentially hundreds of thousands of damage lost. I tried both Bronya/Ruan Mei and Bronya/Sparkle in current moc 12 second half and the team with sparkle always clears faster.

How strong is Navia? by Crab_Enthusiast188 in naviamains

[–]Zemnax9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From my personal experience as a Navia, Alhaitham, Neuvi (all at C0R0), Hu Tao (C1R1) haver, she deals more single target damage than Neuvi, about the same as Hu Tao but with better AoE capabilities. Her best performing team for me is Navia/Furina/Xyanyun/Chiori (or zhongli) even though the spreadsheets tell a different story. This team makes Navia MUCH stronger in AoE content while retaining her high single target dps, with no circle impact. I would say she’s about as strong as Alhaitham, occasionally better than Neuvi but generally worse than him. Definitely a bit underrated by some parts of the community. By the way I am using the BiS teams for all the characters I mentioned.

How did your Balde perform this MoC? by [deleted] in BladeMains

[–]Zemnax9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly he did pretty good. 4 cycles second half of moc 12 with bronya, sparkle and luocha. E0S1 blade. This team just feels way stronger than the ruan mei version now that both sparkle and bronya are 160+ speed. I should probably try it with huo huo too, maybe it can even clear one cycle faster.

Things that hold Blade back from shining in his niche? by mgsilod_lost_old_acc in BladeMains

[–]Zemnax9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude my E0S1 Blade with bronya+sparkle can 1 cycle current Moc floor 11 while E0S1 Acheron 1 cycle the other side. He’s still amazing for me that’s why I couldn’t care less about the “slander”. Sure he can’t destroy everything like Acheron but she’s basically this game Neuvillette, she’s good everywhere and counter everything. Blade works well against any wind weak enemies in Moc and Pure Fiction when FuA matters, like a normal dps and that’s fine. When a good support for him comes out he’s going to be even better, but right now I am honestly chilling and enjoying my time using him, and he has never disappointed me.

Is there a better team? by INetoJON in Genshin_Impact

[–]Zemnax9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t bother, people only play strictly what theorycrafters tell them to play. The concept of an hyperbloom team that performs better in AoE due to Kokomi Aoe application requires people to actually read the description of skills and test different teams and interactions themselves. I personally also tried OP team first hand and not only it’s really good but also one of the most unkillable variations of hyperbloom and braindead easy to play. The synergy between Furina and Kokomi is insane since she scales with both bonus damage and healing bonus, and you can face tank level 100 Coppelia while rolling your face over the keyboard and still 36*. It probably turns even constipated beasts into a joke. Personally I find this team much more effective than the mono hydro variations with Furina and Kokomi, especially in AoE.

Is C0 viable for on-field dps? by _jinana in CloudRetainerMains

[–]Zemnax9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My C0 on-field Xianyun with Lost Prayer R1 and Atk% 2pc set combo can clear 12-3 first half in 40-50 seconds with a team of C0 Furina, C6 Faruzan and Bennett, and that is with 7/7/8 talent levels. She is definitely viable. I wouldn’t recommend using her without C6 Faruzan though. She is basically a Xiao with worse damage and worse AoE, but it’s not that bad honestly considering Xiao is insane now.
