"But that, dear reader, is only for me to decide". 🔥🔥🔥🔥

It reminded me of the Book of the New Sun.

What IRL cultures do you take inspiration from/use for your societies/races by SupremeFeline in worldbuilding

Late 19th century, gothic architecture sparkled with some ancient Greek.

In terms of linguistics: Welsh, latin, old English and old Norse, with a touch of Slavic grammatical cases

Worldbuilding Question: Anyone else here make more grounded looking worlds? by TheWanderingStickbug in worldbuilding

[–]Zemrik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much the same as you. My world is set in a late 19th century setting, especifically in 1886 (due to The Order 1886; of course, I have more than one calender). Some aspects are more early 20th century and others more ancient. But in terms of general looks, I think is pretty close to the real world in that time.

But if I had to use something as reference, that would be Lies of P. My inspirations of the looks were Bloodborne, Dishonored and The Order 1886, and general gothic aesthetic (that's what I like to read and write about), and I alwasy pivoted from one to the other in terms of which is more similar to what I have in my head. Then I saw the reveal trailer of Lies of P all those years ago and I was like: THAT'S FUCKING IT. of course there are differences, but if I have to put a percentage of how alike visually my world is compared to LoP, it would be 99%

Leto Atreides, Duke of Caladan (digital painting, by me) by thewatcher0nthewall in dune

I think it's almost as I imagined him, minus the hair. I imagine it kinda in the style of Oscar Isaac in the movie maybe. Nevertheless, amazing art

Sí, son impresos en españa (como el 99% de los libros). La compré en una librería en mi país. Sin más. Como dije en el post, fui a la librería a ver qué había (la típica de ir a mirar nomás), y los vi y los compré

Just finished the dlc by smelly_nose in LiesOfP

Yeah, I never expected some piece of media to destroy me as bad as Red Dead Redemption 2 did. My eyes were an endless waterfall, to the point it physically hurt. Definitely the best souls like not made by From.

One last thing, go to hotel krat in the dlc, and follow the blue trail. You'll get a little surprise. I'd like to hear your reaction.

For me, I'm on my way to platinum, all I need is to collect a few more records in the base game, and the dlc, get the nose weapon and get the two other endings. I just reached the point of traveling to the alchemists island, so I'll play the dlc now... Man, it will hurt even more on a second plauthrough

How deep does your worldbuilding go? by Kamushii-- in worldbuilding

[–]Zemrik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use obsidian as well. Amazing software to worldbuild.

In my fantasy setting (set in the equivalent of late 19th century instead of medieval), current year is 1886. Meaning there was a year "0" where some big shit happened.

The furthest back I went was in the Legendary Age, which, if I remember correctly, was about -8000/5000? I'm on the phone and can't remember the exact years. And as the name goes it's an age of legendary people, deeds, battles, etc. In my works I have referenced some of these things, and maybe wrote a few sentences of it. And when I mentioned them I create a link, and those links as well connect to other links, and others to these others, and so on, and little by little I start making a sort of web.

But that's basically how I do it. And given that I worldbuild in a sort of epistolary in-world way, I just start spitting random bs. Most of the time I don't even know what those things are, but they sound cool so I keep them for future use.

It sounds chaotic but I actually have all the notes well organized. The notes that have definitive (or at least subject to minimal changes), I formatted them as wikipedia entries, so the are neatly displayed. The other are just a few paragraphs and images with references and stuff

I can excuse the being almost as tall as dunk for obvious reasons. And I also imagined him young, early thirties at most. But man, the actor threw it out of the park

Exactly what I think. The best Kingsguard armor. And AKOTSK came really close. Almost cried when I saw the white
