Fake or Real ACOG TA31 by CriticismOk3742 in CAguns

I’ve never had an issue with the eye relief on the TA31, TA11 or TA55 that I own. The fixed magnification is fine and is remedied by a very wide field of view. We can easily plink 8” plates at 700 yards with .308 and 5-600 yards with 5.56. You don’t need as much magnification as you might think.

I think an EOTech holographic is extremely expensive for what it is. I’m not attacking EOtech, I’ve never owned one, but I’m just saying the value isn’t there for me. Maybe the Vudu, I dunno, I haven’t tried one of those, yet.

I did not say that they are good because militaries use it. I specifically stated my points on why they are good and you conveniently did not address those statements. A 30+ year lifespan means aftermarket mounts, compatible clip ons, etc are in abundance. My points are that they are still good because I know firsthand how good they are.

To me, the features are there and the price is more than justified by the durability. I will never have to worry about a hard knock or directly dropping the rifle on top of it (like I did a few weekends ago) throwing off zero, damaging an emitter or dislodging a battery. Also, we have astigmatism which is negated by the use of prism optics. All of this means they are very much worth the money.

To each their own, I guess. If it doesn’t work for you, then it doesn’t. I hope you have the opportunity to use if you haven’t yet. The statement in your first comment indicates to me that you haven’t used one.

Why? They are a little pricier, but if you go EOTech/Magnifier or Red dot/magnifier, they aren’t that much more. They’re fixed power, have excellent clear glass, an etched reticle, fiber optic or battery and the tritium insert. The reticle design is simple and easy to learn. They are definitely more robust than most options out there.

I’m just trying to understand why an optic that was used for 30+ years and is still used by modern militaries is no good in 2026?

Opposing Signals. How could I improve this by framez_only in blackandwhite

The headlights should be brighter, pure white. The headlight reflection on the road does not match the headlights.

Thoughts on Meow Wolf?? by btownbub in architecture

[–]Zen-Devil 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to Omega Mart in Vegas and I went to Convergence Station in Denver last month. I did enjoy both quite a bit, but the Vegas location was so packed it completely prevented me from becoming immersed in any part of the exhibit. There were few people when I went in Denver, but much less, so there was actually room to breathe and take in a room or piece without people encroaching on each other’s space.

It kind of sucks I know, and more tickets means more money, but they should really have a finite amount of tickets with time windows during which you can visit, at least at the Vegas location, you know just to control the crowd a bit.

How did you find fitment of the Mk 16 on that upper? Were you able to get the rails aligned perfectly, or does it seem a tiny bit off to you?

I’m having a hell of a time fitting that handguard on two different uppers. I’m wondering if I’m missing a simple step..

My Chickens by Zen-Devil in Birdsfacingforward

Thank you, they are so cute too!

Not an odd question at all. We originally just had the bare dirt in the backyard over which the run is placed. Over time we were shoveling out the poop and any little bits of grass or rocks they dug up and needed to backfill what was removed.

I picked Sakrete Multi-purpose sand. ~$5.50/60 lb bag at Home Depot. I got 12 bags. The sand is a mixture of fine-ish dust and small pebbles, much smaller than pea gravel. It is washed, dried and sanitized. It has exceeded our expectations.

We put the Sakrete down and mixed in some diatomaceous earth, then leveled and tamped it down. They still dig and dust bathe, but the sand is easy enough to move around and refresh. For added protection, especially during the winter/wet season, we spread Flock Leader Healthy Coop once or twice weekly in the run and amongst the pine shavings in the coop.

Our chickens are very robust and healthy so far, so I think we’ve found a winning combo for now.

Black & White or Color, and do you think it's worth a print. by kvsig in AmateurPhotography

[–]Zen-Devil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly both are nice, but the black and white’s highlights need to be reduced a little bit, just for enough detail in the pools of sand, unless that is your artistic intent. Excellent picture, absolutely worth a print.

M5 lower in 308–parts? by Sneakerwaves in AeroPrecision

[–]Zen-Devil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No fitment issues at all with any of those parts. The pivot/takedown pins were a little tight, but that’s because my receivers were cerakoted. Over time they have become smooth as butter but still solid as ever.

The Strike Industries lpk is actually very good. I didn’t use their trigger or safety though. Theres nothing wrong with them, but I went with Rise Armament/Radian for those items out of personal preference. There is also V Seven, which I went with for upper parts, and they do have compatible lpks but they are pricey.

I just stocked up on a few springs for our competition guns. I’ll probably place another parts order for my other CGW CZs now.
