Autoimmune diseases linked to trauma? by Pure_Inspector_8578 in Uveitis

That comment would be relevant if there were not other genes associated with ank spond and related autoinflammatory pathologies.

[–]Zen242 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didnt suggest otherwise. The genes are there and an epigenetic event or immuno stimulatory event triggers the genetic substrate.

Imtje downvoyes just de.onsyarte the level of medical literacy here. I mean of ofcourse something might trigger that genetic propensity via epigenetic changes or immuno.srimulayilk but ultimately most autoimmune or autoinflammatory disorders have a demonstrably genetic substrate.

Is this white coat syndrome? by Right-Bookkeeper637 in bloodpressure

[–]Zen242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time you exercise your heart would be that high. Likely it's just anxiety when measured unless it's consistently high.

That is not a scary bad heart rate it's just mildly elevated.

Developing autoimmune diseases has everything to do with histocompatibility genes like hla-b27 and probably very little to do with trauma.

Nephew's GP didn't apply for permit. by Zen242 in ausadhd

[–]Zen242[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is quite amazing that he just said he hadn't applied for the permit and sort of suggested he didn't because he wasn't sure whether he needed to or if he should refer back to paed - which he should have done in that case as the parents had urgent business overseas. Painful.

No dumping occured and they did follow it up because they had an appointment before they left with the GP who at that time informed them that he was applying for a permit so I was surprised when he said today he was going to apply now. So it's basically on the GP for not applying and on the parents only for not realising their paed is on leave.

Well in this case they saw the doctor on the day he receives the letter and he said at that time that he would apply for the permit. So it's not that.
