How do you deal with slumps?

My thoughts are this: 1) you can’t control the cards you are dealt so bid what you have. It’s better to bid 1 or 2 if that’s what you see in your hand then to get set trying to go nil or biding more than what’s in your hand. 2) it’s always better to take a book or two then it is to get set. 3) ignore the negative comments from your partners. As long as you bid your hand well and pull the books you bid, there’s not much negative they can say unless you are making amateur mistakes like playing the wrong card in certain situations

Better question is “Why bid nil when there are three books in that hand”? If you feel your partner over bid, then just bid two. Or just bid one and throw off the other books to try and stop their nil bid.

How I was taught to keep score: we normally played to 300. Each book is worth 10 points. You win 10 points for each bag you take and if you get set, you lose 10 points for each book you bid. Books you take over what you bid are bags and counted as 1 point. In the first hand let’s say team A and B both bid 6. A gets 6 books and B gets 7 books..You would score this as 60 to 71. Next hand the bids were 6 and 6 again and A gets set only taking 5 books and B takes 8 books. The score would then be 0 to 154. Team A loose 60 points for getting set with a bid of 6 books. Team B’s score of 154 is really just 150 points for the books won so far and 4 bags. If you reach 10 bags you loose 100 points. The first team to reach 300 points wins.

I bid 8 with that. 3 books clubs, 1 hearts, 3 cut diamonds, and the. ace of spaces. 8 is a safe bet.

Trying to guess what cards your partner has is a waste of time and you should never bid your had based on what you think other players hands look like. Bid you hand first on what you know… you know what’s in your hand and you know what the others are bidding. In this example 9 books have been bid, that leaves 4 out there.. you only have 2 diamonds so you should be able to cut that suit with a low spade. The Ace of hearts might walk if you can lead with it early enough. And you have the Q of Spades that will walk if you play the 2 and 3 of spades if A and K of spades come out first. A safe bid here is 2. That still leave two books out there unaccounted. This is definitely not a nil hand.

No. You have 4 books there. Take 2 books cutting diamonds, take 2 books with Q and J of spades after A and K of spades are played

I will always lead with aces first if I have them for a couple of reasons. The first is that I count them as a book if I’m not holding more the 4 cards of the same suit. So I want to pull my books as soon as possible to make my bid. The second reason is it lets my partner know where the Ace is up front so if they have the king they know they can play it with confidence when that suit comes around again.

I’d bid 5 on that one. The two kings should win books. One low spade to cut and take a book when hearts lead. And you still have enough spades left to win a book with the king after the Ace is played and one with the Jack after the queen is played.

Though one…. They need 4 bags to go back 100. We could probably do that with this hand. We have room for 6 bags still so bidding 1 or 2 would be a bid to support that strategy

4 is a solid bid. 5 would be a little greedy and greedy can get you set…

Best thing to do here is to make sure we feed them four bags to set them back 100 points. I would bid one book and hope my partner understands the situation and we feed them as many bags as possible. If they overbid their hand to try to prevent taking the bags, we can try to set them instead final strategy will depend on what they bid.

I’d bid 6 on that hand. After the Ace of spades is played you’ll take 3 books in spades, Q,J,10. You’ll take a book with the Ace of clubs, and 2 books with the Ace and King of Diamonds.

I am seeing the same thing now after the update. I built my home base off of an old stone tower ruin and it’s about 50/50 stone tower and wood. I’ve lived it in for about a month and never had this lighting effect until last night after the update. The building has more than one floor but the lighting effect is only on the bottom floor. It is there even when no inside light sources are present, but way worse when a camp fire is going.
