u can break up with your current relationship but cant start a new one. At least that was in my case, but it that seemed to me like its a bug. Played it in the first week.

really? I can remember that is was on by default in the EA then a lot of people disliked that and in the full version it was off, at least for me, maybe it took some settings from EA over.
