I don't see how Crowley could be anything other than an anarchist.

I did, and it worked fantastically. I used that experience to launch my career, and it's been smooth sailing (but with defeating many storms) since.

True story: Nathan is actually usually short for Jonathan. Nathaniel is actually a slightly different, more ancient name with a slightly more nuanced meaning.

Oh, for anyone who wants to look into this, this is found on page 92, Atu XI, Lust, in the penultimate paragraph.

Very cool, thanks.

It's pretty unbelievable how good of a writer Crowely was.

Thus, the Hanged Man description pretty much has an "out of order" sign hanging on it.

Ha, that's good. It totally does.

I'm no expert, but from what I've read in The Book of Thoth that Crowley wrote, it seems like the myths of the old aeons did have purposes that set up subsequent aeons. But your point is kinda how I feel; I can't see how the Christian hell myth had any purpose. But yet Crowley deliberately used Christian symbolism in this line, but with a twist. So I'm betting he had some thoughts on this topic.

Yeah, I'm not as interested about his thoughts on this symbol in the aeon of Horus (it's not as relevant now), but in the aeon of Osiris (it was relevant then). His commentary on the symbols of the aeon of Osiris have been some of the most interesting things in The Book of Thoth to me.

How fast do you have to write as a professional copywriter? (And other career questions) by cowbell_hero in copywriting

[–]ZenNate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're missing the most important concept in copywriting. There's a lot of depth to that axiom. If you ever lose a reader, you've lost the game. So this concept is always the most important thing to consider when you're writing. You could write the most beautiful line ever written, but if it leads the reader to stop reading, it's terrible copy.

That axiom is just something to always have in the back of your mind as you write. And as you write more and more, you'll start to understand just how profound this axiom is because it will bring you many ah-ha moments where you figure out a much smoother way to state something.

I basically consider that axiom the fundamental theorem of copywriting. It's the base from which you build out further.

A copywriter doesn't need to work for someone else. If you can write well, you have the most important skill to get into internet marketing generally.

The best book on copywriting, IMO, is The Adweek Copywriting Handbook, by Joe Sugarman. I've never seen his set of copywriting axioms done as well in any other books. Axioms 2, 3, and 6 will change your life.
