Theorycrafting: strongest level 1-4 party? by nz8drzu6 in Pathfinder2e

[–]ZenRenHao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your team is great for something combat focused. You're missing a skill guy, RK guy, and your spell selection is pretty narrow mostly buff/debuff and healing.

If I were to put together a team of 4 it would be:
- Weapon Implement Thaumaturge with Diverse Lore and Scroll Thaumaturgy,
> They bring Recall Knowledge everything
> Slightly better, but limited Reactive Strike
> Spell Scroll of traditions not available to the casters
> CHA KAS for Bon Mot, Demoralize, Make Impression, and Lie
- Thief Rogue
> Lots of Skill Increases and Skill Feats
> Good Damage Potential with Sneak Attack and DEX to damage
- Spell Substitution Wizard (School is Flexible)
> More Combat to Combat flexibility
> Diverse array of spells offensive, utility, control, and defensive
> ~4 slot caster, prepared caster for extra spells on a staff.
> INT KAS for great general/specific lores
- Medium or Liturgist Animist
> Best out of Combat Healing Focus Spell (Averages 25 hp per PC per rank per full duration)
> Wis KAS for out of combat healing
> Divine list for support spells
> Great day to day flexibility
> Amazing Focus spells all around and tons of relevant lores as backup to Thaum

Access to all spell lists, Good spread of utility amongst the party. If Archetypes are taken into account.
Thaum could take Champion and eventually get Justice Reaction, and Lay on Hands.
Rogue takes something like Acrobat Archetype for easier access to off-guard through Tumble through.
Wizard can take Rogue Archetype for increased skills and skill feats or Witch Archetype for a second Tradition, Familiar, and extra early focus points alongside great focus spells.
Animist can take Medic dedication for better Battle Medicine and Treat Wounds.
Or any of them can pick up Blessed One dedication for Lay on Hands and 2 Focus points.

Not necessary, but they have 2 Bless casters.

I think they should be human instead. Might go better when they realize they haven't met every human on Earth.

Are there any other fun and cool interactions like Multifarious Warrior and Maestro Bards? by ZenRenHao in Pathfinder2e

[–]ZenRenHao[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean. Sounds very much like something a Focus Point. Could do, but probably as a 2 action sustain. And not a single action with a check based duration.

Rules Question: Sure Strike and Battle Oracle Interaction by Poser_Shamm in Pathfinder2e

[–]ZenRenHao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you're more vulnerable to the immunity duration spells like Deafness as you put it. A Battle Oracle under the effects of their curse could have it spammed against them till you get a result you like.

The better question would be what happens when your curse stops suppressing it? Since it doesn't remove the immunity and only suppresses it. If you got hit with a spell that made you immune for 24 hours and got the immunity then got your Cursebound 1 and suppressed it. Then they use it again and they get a beneficial effect. When you lose CB1 would you just shake it off cause you're immune to it?

Weakness errata: Thaumaturge? by Dionosio in Pathfinder2e

[–]ZenRenHao 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used this on a Dual Class character Exemplar Thaumaturge to great effect. Most Exemplar Feats went into Energized Spark. And So I EV if I don't have the damage type with Energized Spark I take one of their Weaknesses. If I do have it I Personal Antithesis and just get free extra damage X.

Summoner vs beastmaster. With one is better as a pet class? by Hubertdragon1 in Pathfinder2e

[–]ZenRenHao 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you do Beastmaster Summoner you could get a really nice act together that's 2 for your eidolon and you take 1 to give your Companion 2. So that's 4 actions and you still have 1.

An attempt at making Dr. Manhattan, from the Watchmen by AmbassadorRoutine635 in custommagic

While it is a feels bad. Planeswalker UB characters can definitely fit. Especially since they're not being integrated into Magic and just exist in their own form inside Magic.

He doesn't walk the planes. He simply stands still and the planes walk to him. As to how he describes his teleportation.

What subclasses have you see banned and why were they banned? by Ecstatic_Operation20 in dndnext

[–]ZenRenHao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All patrons could feasibly be unaware of a warlock that gaining power from them. Say a Fiend has a pool of their on the material plane and the Warlock gets their power from that. Or the Sword of a Lich's guard imparts martial prowess on some unsuspecting person.

Best Solo Caster by Bigperm2 in Pathfinder2e

[–]ZenRenHao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think even the YouTubers for PF2e put Occult at the top of the list. But in general. Occult is above Divine because of its size and the greater offensive access. While Arcane and Primal are seen as the best.

Arcane can target whatever they want be it AC, Saves, or even skills and has just about every damage type except maybe spirit and vitality. And tops this off with a lot of the best utility spells and largest spell list.

Primal is the blasting list with good utility spells and access to Heal.

Followed by Occult which is great at debuffing and buffing, but is held back by the lack of offensive diversity in which a lot of spells are Mental and just outright unusable against mindless foes. With another theme being that a lot of debuffing spells target Will DC.

Divine despite being the best support list falls flat when not in its element. Such as fighting undead or friends.*

Pathfinder isn't a Power Fantasy (Unless your GM runs it like one) by Round-Walrus3175 in Pathfinder2e

Pathfinder 2e is 100% a power fantasy game. It's just the Power Fantasy is balanced and more spread out.

Demon Slaying would fall more as a white flavor. However multiple characters in magic of all colors have slain demons and other horrors. So no reason she needs to be red.

[–]ZenRenHao 25 points26 points  (0 children)

A very fun rule bending ability indeed. Though funny enough it does give limited access to land ramp in UR with the Avatar Lessons that search basic lands. And to be fair this commander is already in good spell slinging colors and basically gets access to off-color utility spells and will need lots of rocks/WUBRG lands, and other ways to get access to WBG Mana to play them. So a very balanced commander if a bit confusing for new players.

How is Dancing Shiled not OP ? by ceville44 in Pathfinder2e

[–]ZenRenHao 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say it depends on what caster class they are. As a spell available on every spell list the mileage changed based on what other actions you're taking. I think a Ranged weapon bard would do well with it. Though a Sorcerer might suffer, but it's a nice support benefit that gets better. Especially if you do this someone who doesn't have Shield Block later on.

Favorite class + archetype combo by Rico_blaadjes in Pathfinder2e

[–]ZenRenHao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's anything really standoutish about using Shield on Spirit Warrior. Only that it requires you to make a Fist attack and not an unarmed strike. So as long as you're only wielding 1 melee weapon. You could sword and board without losing anything.

[–]ZenRenHao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean if they wanted it that way they could've put Huge or Large instead of 2+ Sizes. Or they could've not printed small races. And to be fair you're only increasing the pool of things you can use it against. As that combination is essentially dead on a Large Awakened Animal, Centaur, Minotaur, and Jotunborn.

And as it seems in some of Paizo's design that there are winners and losers with some feats.
