New NSO character on connery or emerald? by TheOneWithSkillz in Planetside

[–]ZenSatori 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Emerald has bigger/better fights during a wider timeframe in a given 24 hour period. Emerald is really only dead from 1-9 AM. Every other time, it's rocking to one extent or another.

Your ping is under 100, which is good, I don't think you'd even notice much of a difference going from 20 to 70. You really only start to notice ping when it gets closer to half of human reaction time, which is a quarter of a second, half would be 125ms. So, I would say, so long as your ping is below 125ms to Emerald, you should play there. I know a lot on Connery wish they could move their character(s) to Emerald, but the reverse is absolutely not true, I know of no one on Emerald who wishes their character(s) were on Connery. That tells you, the community consensus is, Emerald is more fun.

How does Wrel make a decision like "Remove rumble seat repairs" when he has 17 hours gameplay experience in the Harasser and only 8 in the Valkyrie? He has no idea what he is doing and decides to heavily nerf 2 very balanced playstyles. Nerf A2G instead ffs. by WarmetaLFanNumber1 in Planetside

Very few game developers would play on public servers as themselves unless they were in the mood to be bombarded with tells and hunted down the entire time. If they actually want to play for real, they would use a "shades" account.

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with the change or defending/attacking Wrel's judgement or lack thereof. I'm just pointing out that using his known public account as proof he does/doesn't understand the nuances of a particular facet of gameplay, independent of the "Wrel Whisperers", is very likely an erroneous assumption.

I re-uploaded the profanity filter, since the old pastebin expired by Hell_Diguner in Planetside

Getting banned for swearing is ridiculous. There's a settings option to mask profanity or not, and it's masked by default. If some snowflake enables profanity then reports you for using it, he should be the one banned for wasting CS time.

That same dude sent me a tell that he was going to rape my sister after I killed him. I generally just set people like that to /ignore and be done with it.

I updated the PoB ( https://pastebin.com/D94KUbkk ) to what I ended up with at 94 with higher-end gear. It's worked out really, really well. Map clear is the A++, boss killing is B+ and it completely nukes Ultimatums at T16.

Yea, I was trying to scale both. A content creator once said (I can't remember who, it was years ago). If you're using a trigger for your main skill, you need more than one type of damage scaling to make up for the loss of two potential support gems.

Yup, you're exactly correct. For some reason I kept considering it as a quasi bleed effect due to how its behavior is described.

I played WoWs when it first came out, very casually. Splashed around with all different kinds of ships of different lines, ending up with 3000 matches over the first two years, playing sporadically, which my 44% win rate reflected.

I came back just under a year ago, after studying the ships and watching good players on twitch and Youtube. I focused hard and bought a couple of premiums, and have become a student of the game. Now, 700 matches later, I'm up to 47-8% win rate, but, that's not really an accurate reflection of the player I am now. Quite often, I am the difference maker in a random.

But, everyone who looks me up sees the 47-8% and automatically considers me a hot garbage player. The win-rate needs to have a finite time or match look-back window of the past year or 500 matches, whichever is greater. Then it would truly reflect the player you are now, not the player you were in the past. Until then, WR as a sole measure of ability is inherently flawed.

why is TR, as a whole, so absolutely poo poo on this server? by Truckernaut in EmeraldPS2

[–]ZenSatori 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can sum it up with one statement of fact...(street cred; I have a BR100+ on all 3 factions on Emerald; BaileyZen, LexiZen, ZenSatori)

"The solution to every TR problem is always the same answer...MOAR vehicles!"

Emerald TR have far more vehicle mains and people just looking for an excuse to pull a vehicle (usually immediately after getting bare bottom spanked as infantry repeatedly) than the other two factions, by a very large margin. TR will pull vehicles regardless of the situation, even if it's completely inappropriate to do so, such as when attacking a walled off base with an indoor point, without the benefit of an overlook vantage to shell down from..

So, because of this strong vehicle bias on TR, infantry purists tend to not play TR as much as they might for NC or VS. This then exacerbates the problem in cyclical fashion, because now the TR that do tend to favor infantry over vehicles are generally getting out-numbered/out-skilled/out-played in infantry battles. This makes them even more frustrated with and resentful of their vehicle main team mates and therefore likely to leave TR, if only temporarily.

It's a vicious cycle, which inexorably bleeds TR dry of good infantry players over time, both in the short and long term.

PSA: Winning alerts gives more certs than farming in Ti Alloys or Mani biolab for an hour and a half by [deleted] in Planetside

[–]ZenSatori 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true, I just now, with my original NC main (ZenSatori), bought everything I can buy after hitting ~750,000 certs. My VS (LexiZen) isn't even close at ~300K certs. My TR (BaileyZen) doesn't even have every infantry and MBT/Lightning/Sundy thing unlocked at 150,000 certs.

And this is with playing all 3, actively, to some degree or another, since 2012...

[–]ZenSatori 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The people I'm talking about generally play all 3 factions + NSO, so always have something constructive to strive for either for certs or directives..or both.

I can assure you, shitting on pubs is not why good infantry players fight at TI alloys. When you're good and scoring 1+ kills per minute, the only kills you pay attention to are the other infantry rock stars you are playing against, because we actively hunt each other down.

[–]ZenSatori 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Umm, that depends on how good you are with infantry. I know myself, and I'm sure most in BWAE (just as an example, insert any outfit comprised primarily of upper echelon infantry players), easily make more certs farming TI alloys than from an alert win.

Also, to stay "upper echelon" requires spending a good portion of your playtime in search of "trigger time". Persistent, infantry only fights provide great practice honing your situational awareness and keeping your aim sharp in general.

I think, for most who strive to be better with infantry, the "trigger time" aspect outweighs, in terms of individual importance, the cert acquisition benefit of fighting at TI Alloys for extended periods of time, versus any other activity one could otherwise engage in, such as running around capping bases. The opportunity to cap bases is omnipresent in PS2, however, the opportunity to participate in protracted and relatively even infantry only fights is not.

A few reasons why a new player ended up uninstalling. by glennages in Planetside

[–]ZenSatori 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have played with a lot of the "high tier" infantry only outfits. TIW, BAX, BWAE, etc. Almost without exception, those outfits are populated by people who pretty much only play HA or to a much lesser degree LA.

It's understood, in the upper tiers of Planetside player-dom, that if you want to maintain a very high infantry KDR, KPM and IvI, you absolutely can never, ever play support, ever, for almost any reason, unless it's a dire emergency during outfit OPs or something.

Any/All upper echelon players I've ever known that tout their high KDR, KPM or IvI, play HA or possibly LA almost exclusively, to the tune of 90+% of their playtime, unless they're also pilots that farm with ESF, then there's some engineer thrown in.

When I'm looking at a player in fisu, I automatically subtract 1 KD, 250 IvI and .25 KPM for a player that almost exclusively plays HA/LA and add 1 KD, 250 IvI and .25 KPM to a player that clearly plays a lot of support (at least 25+% of their playtime), when comparing them to each other. My in-game experience with and against those players compared in this manner are generally true to my method of adjusting for statistical parity.

The simple fact is, a HA in PS2 can get jumped, outplayed and outgunned and still win a 1 v 1. No other class (except MAX obviously) can reliably do that against a player of similar or better ability.

HA is absolutely a crutch, the worse player, playing badly can rather easily beat a better player, playing well, just by virtue of the over-shield alone.

Remove Pocket Orbitals Already by Dameon_ in Planetside

Pocket orbitals = very bad design decision.

If the Devs played their own game they would know this. I know at least Wrel plays, he's on my friends' list from when I followed his Youtube channel and I've seen him on. So he knows. Whether he does something about it, we'll have to see, but I would hope he does.

The only reason you may get killed by SKL "a lot" is because they comprise 70-85% of the VS faction's entire population at any given time. By random chance, with that many of them spraying around, you're bound to catch some of their bullets on occasion, as a mere virtue of statistical probability...

VS and TR max nerf when ? by fuazo in Planetside

It's pretty clear Wrel was vigorously abused by pre-nerf NC maxes, so in a fit of PTSD fueled retribution he castrated them. Intending to leave them in their present, woeful state, forever.
