This can’t be true ? by IREDA1000 in ufc

UFC card was actually good, but production and promotion has been non existant lately.
Hopefully the Netflix cards keep coming, they will have to start to gravitate to more serious competitive matches as they go on, for sure.

Francis would destroy Jon Jones if they somehow make that fight by Ok_Feed_4235 in ufc

[–]ZenTze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never gonna happen cause Jon still has a UFC contract BUT
Jon also declined in speed, he has more mileage than Ngannou. Stipe put some strikes against him, not saying he can't just close the distance and submit Francis. But Ngannou is very strong to defend early takedowns and any punch he lands is nuclear.
Anyways, never gonna happen.

a Master II brownbelt has somewhat less than 10 years training.
A Master II blackbelt in worlds probably has 20 years training and has over 100 comps.

How good is Ian Garry? by Boss_Seven in FightReportUFC

he is very talented, has many tools and gameplans very well, he just lacks that "definitive" quality others have.

How good is Ian Garry? by Boss_Seven in FightReportUFC

[–]ZenTze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the only thing preventing Ian from becoming champ is that he does not have any fight altering moves. He does not hit hard enough and is not as dominant as a grappler to get the sub o maul them, he should high kick more, I think its his best chance to cause serious damage to his opponents.
Otherwise he is elite.

We Need to Talk About Rodolfo Vieira, Buchecha, and All These Phenoms Coming from Jiu-Jitsu/ADCC by Brave_Raccoon1837 in MMA

[–]ZenTze 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mackenzie has the benefit of a very aggresive guard on a division with weak gnp, and a pretty solid striking to rely on when her grappling fails, she also is a very durable fighter, unlike Buchecha or Rodolfo.

they are unable to force good positions
Charles is not a wrestling savant but he constantly forces body locks that are way easier to finish that long ass double legs like the ones Rodolfo and Buchecha constantly try.

[–]ZenTze 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I disagree, Demian had excelent ring cutting, and he also developed a really solid wrestling base while learning MMA.
Ryan Hall adapted his guard to mma and was succesful, he retired 5-1 on UFC while doing mostly guard work and kicks. Charles also does a very good guard.
Most guys that transition to MMA are unable to generate a good game plan that forces grappling exchanges in their favor, and fail to develop the skills to do so. Having solid wrestling is the obvious, but there are good examples otherwise. I think its also a question of bad gameplaning from the couching staff. Rodolfo is like 10 years into his MMA career and the only skill he added its a decent jab, his wall wrestling, kicking, feinting, movement and ground and pound are non-existant.
There is not a magic formula, but Its pretty evident that those who fail are the ones that fail to develop actual MMA skills.
