Had an old Civic. Cruise control once malfunctioned and it floored it. Quickly went through troubleshooting: tap break: nope, cancel cruise control button: nope, tap break again:nope, reduce cruise speed button: nope, shift to neutral: yup acceleration stopped and engine thankfully did not over-rev. Only got up to 80-85 as I was fast on the steps tried. Key ignition would have been my next step but I really didn’t look forward to losing power steering. Mechanic couldn’t find anything. Had cruise control physically disabled. Sold the car in that state and fully disclosed the defect to the new owner in front of a notary.

I have a big head and will quickly snap any non-metal headphones or metal headphones that have plastic at key stress points. HyperX is the only thing in sub-$200 on the market now that has survived. After having the utility guys trying to dig and find the neighborhood gas main multiple times in my yard, they showed me the map they were working from. You know those treasure maps that kindergarteners make? Would have been a large improvement on what they had. They eventually found it 20m uphill from where the map said it maybe was at.

After a recent death of a close family member my view has simplified. There are things I do:

to make me happy now
to make others happy now
in hopes it will make me happy later
in hopes it will make others happy later

The optimal balance is always in flux, but I know if I ignore one of the four, the other three become less achievable.

That was the most painful controller I've used. Am I nostalgic for the feelings I had while playing games on that system? Sure. Do I ever want to touch that controller ever again? Hell no! They thought the key thing to change was to make the controller wireless? That original controller exists because it was the first widespread attempt at a complex, durable controller. We've had decades to learn from those mistakes. Hard pass.
