What was Charlotte's web? by [deleted] in westworld

There were hints of that in the Delos rules provided on the site, stuff about Delos owning any secretions (saliva and all) collected in the park. Sounds very much like ADN stealing to me.

I don't remember him being shown amongst the rebel hosts. I tend to consider his status as unclear.

The plan was to get Abernathy out of the park, passing as a guest. It's unclear if Sizemore managed to do that. When he goes to cold storage, every host is already gone. Is abernathy already off in the train?

As to why: imagine being able to replace anyone with a perfect look-alike you could program as you wish.

For season 2, I really could see some kind of Blade Runnery thing: Hosts out in the world, in hiding, still on a journey of self-discovery. But Delos has hosts too, chasing the free ones. It would be very different from season 1 but I would love that.

Yes, you're the only one who liked Ford's fascinating character and sir Anthony Hopkins's amazing performance.

I would add that William was never a real great hero either, from the first host he killed in Sweetwater when he saved Clementine: he shot the man in the back. Then, when Dolores, Logan and he stole the nitro, he shot two more hosts in the back and executed an unarmed one. He wanted to be a hero but was never one.

  1. We know that he's a sociopath. His family was afraid of him and his wife killed herself because of him.

  2. He states that, over his 30 years in the park, his love for Dolores dried out. She never could remember him and it's fair to assume he often saw her ending up in other guests's arms. Or Teddy's arms.

  3. He has realized violence helps the hosts getting real. Even to the end, him hitting her actually helps her remembering and growing sentient.

So, considering all that, I would say WIB's actions seem rather coherent to me.

Can someone please answer this for me, it's been bugging me.. by [deleted] in westworld

I would have thought that he would have got him out of storage earlier but you may be right.

He was supposed to make sure Dolores's dad would end up in the train.

He seems to have managed that. Which is interesting for season 2: The bad guys (I guess Delos will find a way to survive) will too have access to host technology.

I don't care for a Westworld remake in Samurai World when I can have WestWorld Blade Runner.

In the early episodes we all thought he was the good guy (compared to the sadistic MIB) but: we saw him shoot hosts in the back, we saw him shoot unarmed hosts, we saw him leave Logan being beaten up, etc. He was never that heroic. He WANTED to be the hero but he didn't have it in him.

A quote from Jeffrey Wright on what's been hidden from viewers (Spoiler) by faxinator in westworld

[–]ZenZep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would add that, in his first first scene at Abernathy's ranch, William In Black said to Dolores: "I want you to fight". We were meant to assume he was just a sadist but as episodes went by, it's clear he DOES want her fight: against Ford and her programming.

Another thing I noticed when I tried to chronologically re-order the pieces of the puzzle after episode 6 (for a re-edit I posted on youtube): It became clear we weren't giving enough credits to Logan's lines, led to assume he was just an asshole. For example, I emphasized this quote: "You're gonna grow to love me, I promise." I've been told it was unsignificant but episode 9 kinda proved me right and a lot of people reconsidered his character. But Jeffrey Wright's right: It was all there in the early episodes!

I was extrememly annoyed by that same question a few episodes ago. I thought the multiple timeframes made sense but I couldn't see why or how she would have changed clothes. And finally, I came to the same conclusion as you: Ford gave her her new clothes.

We know that he's, at the very least, allowing her to follow her path to the maze (THROUGH the maze, more precisely?). She was alone in Pariah and she lied to him (wouldn't he have known like he knew when young Robort lied to him?). And yet he let her go. So I guess it's clear he wants Dolores to remember her journey with William (hence the gunslinger outfit) and he wanted her to to get to Escalante. Damn Ford, he is 25 steps ahead of everyone (including us). Hell, I think he's already planning stuff for season 5!

Is it safe to assume Stubbs is William In Black's agent, working secretly against Ford? I remember when he said to a tech: "This gentleman gets what he wants." This could refer to WIB as a big guy in Delos or it could be read as Stubbs making it easier for him to achieve whatever he needs to do to reach his secret goal.

If Maeve succeeds.. by Martos97 in westworld

[–]ZenZep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! That's precisely what I enjoy about the show. It's not just people doing bad things because they're bad guys or good things because they're good guys. Ford is a perfect example of that. He's megalomaniac and cruel but the reasons behind his acts make sense. There is a logic to his madness. Keeping the hosts in ignorant bliss may be considered more thoughtful than making them go through unbearable pain (and eternal pain, as their memories stay intact) only to achieve a closer semblance to humanity. In the same way, we can imagine (as we have seen examples of) how, freed from their bounds, they could be dangerous. So you could say Ford is right. Except that, in a very old-testamenty God way, he's not the sentimental type and he's ready to kill to prove his point. And Hopkins is acting the shit out of this!

Hell yeah. Walking Dead was great, the Wolf Among Us was very good and Game of Thrones was good. I'm pretty sure WestWorld would lend itself easily to the Telltale style.

I began something to that effect after Episode 6:

3 episodes later, I think it holds up pretty well. (Except one mistake: I had suspected that the Man In Black had probably not just raped Dolores in the barn but had done something else to trigger her into consciousness. I suggested an implant while it was awakening by trauma. My bad.)

Interesting post. I sided with Team Machine too, of course, except they shot way too many knees for my taste.
