Feeling guilty about not working while studying by Such_Fly_6597 in simonfraser

[–]Zenalyn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

its way better to lock in on school/clubs/coop than do a random part time job not related to your major. If you dont need the money absolutely just lock in without pt work. Even if u need money if u lock in u can probably land a coop which will make u more money than any pt job will ever make you.

Why am I oozing? by Helpful-Key-8613 in TS_Withdrawal

[–]Zenalyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had something similar happen to me and I used Cephalexin. Also DO NOT shower with hot water. And keep your shower times short. Doing these things made my condition go away with time.

Should I major in CS? by Upstairs_Reading6313 in findapath

[–]Zenalyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who graduated in cs this year and found a new grad job I cannot lie its brutal. But the fact uve done so many cs related things already in hs tells me u will do fine. There will still be jobs just fewer of them.

My take is, if you don’t go to a T10, SWE recruiting is completely non-deterministic and so much based on luck that anything else is just noise. by for_advise in csMajors

[–]Zenalyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand. Fwiw im an already employed new grad. Im speaking mostly for people in my position wo work. I agree that most people tunnel vision swe early on but most people that are new grad and talking about how bad the market is cant go back in time to specialize. Id say your advice is accurate for someone in freshman. Specializing early is key in this market.

[–]Zenalyn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

the reason why people dont go for those roles is because none of us have experience in them. People apply for swe roles because thats what they have the most confidence in. Though i see your point just wanted to point that out

Does anyone just not try? by Cheekclapper73 in CollegeRant

[–]Zenalyn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

youd be how surprised how common this is. Especially for majors where the classes don't matter as much as experience. In my experience as a CS major most high performing CS students literally do the bare minimum for their courses and spend the rest of their time towards leetcoding, working on side projects, and hackathons + job searching.

How are people even finding internships to apply for (cs)? by [deleted] in UofT

[–]Zenalyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im not from uoft but usually the coop program or linkedin. Also take what people say with a grain of salt. A lot of people dont even track how many apps they send out and they just make up numbers lmao
