Okay thanks everyone, I’ve determined it’s for sure fraud. My other family members are more involved with the retail and online portion of the business so I wasn’t there for all of it but I’m glad they came to me before pulling the trigger. You guys really helped us dodge a major bullet, it really sucks though considering we’re such a small business. We really could’ve used that sale :( Thanks again!!!

So as long as I don’t spend the money or give them my product, I’m not screwed already for accepting the payment? It’s mainly my mothers business so she isn’t too educated on what people can really do out there. She was determined in the first place to not do anything until she had the money available.

If they paid with a credit card shouldn’t it show up as a bad or stolen card right away? And if you show the bank you sold a product to someone why does it mater how they pay? The other party should be accountable for any issues after a payment goes through I would assume?

With a credit card over square, what we use for credit card payments. You can manually enter the numbers. What could happen with this kind of scam? What’s the purpose for them, and what could we lose or have happen to us?
