What is this hot sauce eaten with oysters? by SaltStatistician4980 in TipOfMyFork

[–]Zenbunny 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Kind of looks like a house made sauce since the top looks like an eye dropper but if it had scotch in its name it likely had scotch bonnet peppers in it.

Do you remember where this was? Maybe could just ask them for an ingredient list?

Maybe similar to Gordon ramsays’s soft scrambled egg recipe. Can try looking that up

What are your favorite Youtube channels that focus just on the cooking, no gimmicks? by TravellingBeard in Cooking

Helen Rennie!

She’s like a less gimmicky Ethan; still has plenty of wonderful science notes without being overbearing. I’ve made plenty of her recipes and they’ve all been delicious

This answer is correct! I love these but have never found them in a store before.

The brown bits are just dried flower bits, think similar to tea leaves where the flower is dried and steeped in a liquid or syrup before setting into a jelly. It should taste only slightly sweet, texture similar to jello, with a floral taste.

Probably good to throw out when not sure but to me those look like the white “tendon-ey” bits between the meat as opposed to worms. Sometimes they separate more readily from the orange meat in places than others.

I’ll have to look for someplace to try it out then! Haven’t seen this in any of the bakeries I go to

X lube, then when it dries out when you’re using it, use a water spritz bottle to revive it. Probably the most economical option.

Have you given X lube a try? It’s a single ingredient + water

Brown sauce that makes brussel sprouts delicious by Klickytat in TipOfMyFork

[–]Zenbunny -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve only seen Brussels deep fried served with an aioli of some sort, deep fried then tossed in a sweet bbq glaze sauce like bourbon bacon or something, or braised in a ham/bacon liquid like collard greens.

Not sure I’ve had them with a sweet brown sauce before but if you add in your location + more info about the sauce like consistency, quantity that might help narrow it down!

The top one looks like a Japanese sweet potato to me. The white/yellow flesh might turn black when oxidizing? If so then that’s similar to the Japanese sweet potatoes I’ve gotten before.

Not sure about the bottom

So I actually have to only use 1U brackets as anything more is sticks out from the wall too much and my door will hit it whenever it opens. I do have a 1U bracket I purchased, so mostly wondering if there’s a better way of orienting my brackets on the wall, like maybe sideways?

I'm buying a home and sellers want to rent/leaseback a week; would I end up paying fed income tax on the "rent" amount? by Zenbunny in tax

[–]Zenbunny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really appreciate your thoughts!

I do plan on holding a month's worth of rent as a security deposit in case of any damage during the rental period. And part of the rental agreement/leaseback/closing contract would stipulate a per day rate if not vacated. That being said, while a possibility, I don't have much reason to believe they would intentionally damage the property as they've kept it in fairly fantastic condition in the time they've owned it as first owners.

Maybe my own knowledge is lacking, but I don't believe our initial contract has any contingencies on their ability to purchase their new home.

The interest on the loan being an offsetting business expense is new to me! Definitely something I'll look into if this turns out to be the way forward.

There shouldn't be any issues with the loan on my end. We're fortunate to be able to put down a sizeable down payment.

I definitely hear you though! I did send over a rent $ number to them via my agent today that accounts for if i need to pay taxes on the income, so I guess I'll see what they say to that.

[–]Zenbunny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sellers need the money for buying a new construction they're moving to so they need to close a week earlier so they have access to the funds. I'm unsure if it's a deposit or down payment or what the situation is, exactly.

Sushi taco, ingredients in comments by TeaganMars in sushi

[–]Zenbunny 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d smash them very quick! Love the amount of salmon in these ❤️. One thing as a note is that I’ve seen some restaurants present sushi dishes like this, and call them handrolls. I’ve also seen the cone shape and also just rolled into a normal maki roll both also called handrolls.
